Well organised, everything was on time and happened as per schedule, great hospitality, great common areas at the homestay, great food and location, very peaceful and a great break from the city life in Hanoi. The tour guide Giang and driver were really good. Giang looked after us really well.
The local guide we had during our 15km hike was super knowledgeable and lovely and we had a great day out in the jungle with him.
We definitely recommend it if you want to discover some of the wilderness of North Vietnam and learn about the great culture of this place

Wonderful guide and safe driver. That is much appreciated! Cu was informed intelligent and so very friendly. Everyone seemed to know him. The Waterfalls were spectacular the cave’s interesting. Food was delicious but too much was served. Rice wine excellent. Mr Lin’s home stay was the highlight. Beautiful pool and rooms and service. Our best beds

Sehr schöne Tour zum Bà be See. Die Gegend ist noch nicht überlaufen! Wir sind nach der 5 sündigen Kleinbusfahrt noch am Nachmittag 3 Stunden mit dem Boot auf dem See und zu einer Fledermaushöhle unterwegs gewesen. Am Folgetag mit unserem sehr erfahrenen Führer Herrn Nghinh entlang schöner Reisterrassen und in die Berge zu einem Mhongdorf gewandert. Am Abreisetag eine tolle Höhle besucht. Beeindruckend waren die klasse Leuchtinszenierung und die Größe der Höhle. Auch hier wieder nur ganz wenig Besucher unterwegs.

Good
- food was excellent (both for meat lovers and vegetarians)
- phenomenally beautiful and diverse landscapes
- no waiting time for attractions and activities
- tour group size was perfect (12 adults, 2 children)
- a lot of opportunities for pictures
Tips for improvement
- tour guide was very attentive but his english was at times hard to understand
- the day felt rushed. Very tight timetable with no wriggle room (Ban Gioc waterfalls was the exception, a lot of time to enjoy and take plenty of pictures)
- stops to take pictures felt very rushed (out-take pictures-in- go!)
- food was excellent (both for meat lovers and vegetarians)

Nice trip with beautiful scenery and landscape. The guide was well organized and super friendly. It is a lot of bus driving though.

We were collected punctually from our hotel in Hanoi and transported by mini-bus to the Ba Be National Park - a 5hr drive. Along the way our guide for the trip began to pass on his knowledge of Vietnam history, culture, commerce, geography etc. He was very engaging and friendly and continually passed on snippets of information throughout our 3 days with him. His English vocabulary was excellent although it did take us a little while to tune in to his pronunciation. We stopped for lunch half way and the guide joined us to explain the many traditional dishes we were brought. The surroundings for lunch were basic but the food was delicious. We stayed at Mr Linh's homestay, more of a small hotel really than a true family home, but clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Our main activities were a 15k forest Trek, visiting local family homes in the mountains, then a boat trip up Ba Be Lake to Puong Cave. All very well organised and everyone we met so happy and welcoming. We had a thoroughly immersive experience and after returning to Hanoi our guide met us again in the evening to enjoy a few beers and a meal with us - a very kind gesture.

This was an amazing experience, I’m so happy we used Mr Linh’s for our trip to Ba Be Lake! Our tour guide, Tran Minh Phuc, was an excellent guide who drove us there, made sure we were comfortable and happy, talked and ate with us, and made the trip so easy.
I recommend Ba Be as a short trip out if Hanoi, it was absolutely beautiful. We took a small boat from the entrance to the park to the hotel in the water, navigating through a cave and seeing some breathtaking views. On the last day we climbed up to a dry cave entrance and down into the cave where there were both natural and carved sculptures to see. All around fantastic experience!
I recommend Ba Be as a short trip out if Hanoi, it was absolutely beautiful. •our guide didn’t speak English well and didn’t get what we wanted to ask him so we just needed to guess by ourselves sometimes
•description on website about trek length was wrong. First trek was much harder than second trek and longer than 7km. There are some dangerous paths that are quite slippery or narrow and possibilities of fall off the cliff or into river, trekking in the rain. These should be rewrite or mentioned on the website.
•at Linh’s homestay, Vietnamese tourists started doing loud karaoke at dinner time and ruined peaceful lake atmosphere. We were very unlucky.

Tour was amazing. Especially first night’s homestay at Hung’s homestay. Worth waking up all the way to stay there. Dishes were all homemade and organic, best food ever we had after living in Vietnam for years.
Swimming in Babe lake is must.

We did the 3D2N tour to Ba Be national park and had a great time! The nature there is beautiful and quite different from other places in Vietnam we had visited before Ba Be. The lake itself is gorgeous and the surrounding nature is breathtaking; foggy and eerie in the morning, shimmering and fantastic in the afternoon, when the sun comes out. We went in the downseason so not many (barely any) tourists around but the tradeoff was that the rice fields are barren because the water level is low. Still, it adds to the mysterious aura this place has so it didn't bother us too much. Mr Linh's homestay is also quite nice. You can use the kayaks there for free and go out on the lake by yourself. The rooms, while clean, are not very noise proof; it is best to not go to bed too late because the noise (roosters and dogs as well as people) starts quite early in the day. The food at the homestay is very, very tasty, among the best food we have had in Vietnam! Our guide, Loi, spoke English well enough and could answer all questions that we had during our treks. Finally a special thank you to the van driver who picked us up and dropped us off in Hanoi: his driving style was quite relaxed which was a nice and unexpected change of pace. This was one of the highlights of our four week Vietnam trip, highly recommended!

Thank you Bart for your review, you described beautifully the special aura around Ba Be Park, thank you for that! Mr Linh's Homestay is a comfortable house which follows the typical Vietnamese construction: a stilt house in wood. So indeed it is recommended to follow a Vietnamese schedule and go to bed early to wake up early ;)

Hi Please can you tell me if this trip would be suitable for an 11 and 13year old?

Hi. Really sorry for the VERY late response but only just seen it. For what it’s worth. I would say it is suitable for the 11 and 13 year olds (that’s how old ours were). The guides would make sure, and adjust the activities to suit ability, heat etc. Heat is a huge factor as it sapps your energy. But the vehicle they use has aircon, the home stays they use have aircon. Keep you supplied with water and plenty of dips in the water. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Hope you have a good time in Vietnam. Or had.
