Excellent trip up north for three nights. Highly recommend the Ban Gioc and Ba Be Lake trip. Staying in the incense making village was amazing! All the little stops along the way were interesting. The places we visited were gorgeous. Our guide (Mr. Ling) was great and rearranged the itinerary so we got to the waterfalls when there was more water. Lots of time in the van was the only drawback, but they did make frequent stops, and getting to see the lake and waterfalls was worth it.

This was a lovely trip. The guide was helpful and friendly and the homestays were very nice. Riding a boat around Ba Be Lake is going to be a highlight of our trip.

Each element of the tour was fantastic and well worth visiting. Ba be lake and the waterfalls were stunning, the temple and market gave a taste of true vietnam life, both homestays were clean and comfortable (the second was basic, but given the location in a homestay in a traditional village, very comfortable), and the tour guide and driver were great. Staff in the office communicated well, and everyone worked to retrieve my kindle from the remote mountain homestay, where I'd stupidly left it, within 24 hours!
Four stars instead of 5 because of the distance- 5 hours drive on day 1, 6 hours on day 2, and 5 hours on day 3. Though t was in the itinerary, the true scale of the 1000km total drive wasn't that clear.
However if you have the stamina, well worth it!

We have just returned from the Ban Gioc Waterfall and Ba Be Lake trip which we were able to customize into a 5 day, 4 night trip to spend extra time in places we wanted to see the spectacular scenery. Nghinh our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable. He was able to order the food we liked and communicate with the local people in the villages we walked through. He knew such interesting and scenic walking trails that we could go on as well as arrange our entries in places where people did not speak English. The driver was very competent and careful. We would walk for kilometres through scenic villages, to arrive in a place where he would be waiting to pick us up and take us onto the next experience. The food was excellent everywhere we went and was more than we could eat. They also carried extra drinking water in the car for us. The homestays we stopped at were above expectations , a great experience and very clean. This trip was great value and covered the driver and car, guide, accommodation, food, drinking water and entry fees to parks etc.

Every aspect of this trip was fantastic except for one part. The part where I had to pay twice for my bus trip from Hanoi to Ba Be Lake and the boat ride to Mr. Lihn’s homestay. There was some confusion about whether or not I paid for the bus. It turns out I did and was given a refund from Mr. Lihn’s father.
Other than that the accommodations, the guide, the hike, and the food were phenomenal. I quips recommend this trip to anyone.
Mind you the paying for the bus was a minor inconvenience that was exacerbated by my lack of Vietnamese language skills but it was fixed. My advice for fellow travelers would be to double and triple check the communication with their agent before you go.
Other than that the accommodations, the guide, the hike, and the food were phenomenal. I quips recommend this trip to anyone.

My partner and I had an absolutely amazing time on our tour with Ninh on the Ban Gioc and Ba Be lake tour. Our tour guide Ninh was just amazing. His English was really good and he went above and beyond to describe the country and the landscape to us. We really enjoyed the small village we stayed at the first night and the hostess Ms. Kim was just the most precious host.
We actually enjoyed the Ba Be lake more than we did the waterfall because the waterfall was pretty packed with tourists. At the lake we stayed at the home stay of Mr. Linh and it was actually his wedding and so we celebrated his wedding day which was just a blast. His family was super welcoming and I thought we got to see a lot of culture through this experience.
We loved this tour and would recommend it to anyone!

I did a group tour of 20 members with Mr. Linh Adventures on May 2022 from Hanoi. The tour includes transportation, food and beverage, accommodation and activities. The sights were very nice and all activities were well-prepared to avoid any waste of time. I spent 3 amazing days thanks to Mr. Li, our guide. We learnt many interesting facts at different pit stops along the way despite a tight planning. Pain point can be the long driving distance. Mr. Li's secret is happiness and you will spend priceless moments with locals in homestays. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the true beauty of northern Vietnam.

I highly recommend taking a tour with Mr Linh's Adventure. Our guide Mr Long was incredible, he was so knowledgeable and great to chat with. The areas we visited were breathtaking and worth every penny. It is a lot of driving but it's worth it. The restaurants we went to served great local food. The homestays were very comfortable and we're newely built.

How is the transporttation? Is it a small mini-van? or a spacious car? We are asking this because we dont want to sit several hours with our knees in our neck ;-)

it was a medium mini van. knees not in neck, but legs not fully outstretched. i’m 6’1” & did okay. also, they stopped often for some tourist site or a bio-break. but there is no negating the fact there was a lot of travel time. the price paid going where we went. still highly recommend.

In January the dry season starts, so I think it's one of the best months to go. I generally suffer from car sickness as well but I had no problems on this trip. Some part of the road was indeed through the mountains but fortunately everything went smooth. However they can stop at any time you want. And I have to say that the entire experience was really worth, it gives a real glimpse into the locals' way of living. And the Ban Gioc waterfall is simply amazing.

Hi - many reviews talk about the long drive- approx how many hours/
also if we book a homestay can we have private rooms and bathrooms ? if not can we book hotels with these facilities?

Hi! It's true. You spend a lot of time in the car. Maybe around 5 hours a day, on average. But you can still see villages, the landscape, they stop if you want to take some photos. I can't complain about spending this time in the car because I was after a strenuous trekking in Sapa so this time was more than welcome for us. On top of that the waterfall, the Tiger cave and Ba Be National Park are really worth. Regarding the accommodation, of course you can choose hotels. I'm not sure about the facilities there because we booked home stays, also in Sapa we booked home stays. Most likely in a hotel you will have your private room and bathroom. In a home stay the bathroom is shared but you can find a room for only two people. I mean you don't have to share it with anyone. I don't dare to advise you to choose the hotel or the home stay. It was a difficult choice for me as well and maybe the conditions in a home stay are not as good as those from a hotel but the authentic life of the locals cannot be grabbed if you choose the hotel. Moreover, by choosing a home stay you will help a lot the local community and they do need this help. Enjoy your travels!
