Le Journey cruise.

AVOID - book with cruise companies directly
I naively booked this through Trip Advisor as a "Premium" tour for £130 per person. The reality is you are on a very old boat which is infested with cockroaches and rats. The sleep was pretty bad as I could hear rats pattering about and gnawing all around our room or under the floor boards. The bed sheets were stained, asked for them to be changed but it did not happen. The food was sub par for Vietnam standards. One of the guides was good, the other one with whom we were stuck with barely did any "guiding" partially due to the language barrier and probably because he is overworked / not happy with his job. Overall I would avoid booking these via TripAdvisor, try to find the actual cruise companies, compare the boats and book direct.

The only best part to going to Hanoi is that it’s the center point to go to nearby cities.

Overall there weren’t much to see or do in Hanoi. People there weren’t very honest. I approached a Grab motorbike driver to my hotel and he spoke very little English. He pulled out a 20,000 vnd bill to tell me the cost of the fare but when I arrived at my destination he said he needed 2 of the 20,000 vnd bills.

The vendors would give you a price quote usually more than double of the actual cost. A day trip to Ha Long Bay is worth it but not for overnight on the ship cruise unless you really have extra money to blow.

We had a wonderful time on Le Journey! Gorgeous views, the staff couldn't do enough and the karaoke was surprisingly enjoyable. Tom our guide was especially helpful, a real pro. Definitely would do again.

Le journey cruise
I had an incredible time on our cruise with Le journey with my couples group. The kayaking experience was an hour long and it was the perfect amount of time. We saw amazing views and the staff was kind and fun to be around. The tour of the caves was my favorite part and we had the opportunity to swim and hike to the top of a mountain to get a great view of the mountains. We had 3 meals on board, all were delicious and included meals that were significant to Vietnam but they also had food that was similar to American food if you are an adventurous eater. Would recommend this to anyone who comes to Hanoi for a day trip.
