I used the Good Morning Cat Ba transportation to Cat Ba and back to Hanoi. I also did a one day tour of Lan Ha Bay. The whole experience was smooth, well organized, kind and helpful staff. mrs. Ann is the great leader of the company and i highly recommend their services, including transport and tours.

We organised a trip to La Ha Bay and asked if they would include a return pickup from our hotel in Hanoi. They agreed through a friendly WhatsApp exchange and a car picked us up at 5.30am. During the drive on our way to Cat Ba, the driver was falling asleep at the wheel. He also got lost and drove us onto a shipping container building site near the harbour. We didn’t feel safe.
When we got to the other side, we were pleasantly greeted by a tour guide named Kevin, who turned the morning around for us. He had great energy and we knew we were in good hands.
We were told the other guests would arrive at 8.30am for us to board the boat, we were sat around for half an hour, to be greeted by a new tour guide who took over.
We were accompanied on the boat trip by a group of young boys, who were obnoxious and took over the kayaking activity by bringing a speaker with them to play out loud on the reservoir. The tour guide was keen to befriend them and pitch up for cigarette breaks whilst the rest of us were left waiting for the tour to continue, unaware of where to go next.
Lunch was bang average and accompanied by a non complimentary coffee to finish.
During the lunch, we were pulled aside to be told by the tour guide we had to be picked up on a small boat separately, to make the last coach back to Hanoi at 2.40pm, despite other guests on the trip having a coach organised for them at 5pm. The tour guide told us we had to speak on the phone with Kevin to confirm. After explaining to Kevin what we had been sold: a full day tour, plus return transfer to Hanoi, he said he would come back to us. Half an hour later, we were told Kevin had rescued the day and we could return back to Hanoi later as planned.
The remainder of the tour wasn’t as described. Return transfer was organised, even though other guests were put on a coach with spare seats.
Stressful, bad experience. Not worth the money but kudos to Kevin.

We have just returned from a one day Lan Ha tour. We were picked up from our hotel in Hanoi bright and early and ended up having a whole mini coach to ourselves. They took us straight to the boat in Cat Ba. The guide was so friendly and informative. He dealt with some worried kayakers with such calm especially when one fell in. The lunch was plentiful and delicious. We all had such a wonderful day. Thanks Ryan and team.

Booked the day before, they arranged a car pickup, in my case just for me, which took me all the way to the port, a n hour away or so.
Tour guides English was perfect.
Expect a whistle stop tour but in the best way, I had time to relax, kayak, enjoy views, take in the scenery with a beer on a pier and lunch included.
Fantastic experience that I chose over ha long bay as a less touristy option

The service was perfect from start to finish.
Booking is easy, they're super friendly and super responsive, answering your questions very quickly.
We did the one-day activity in Lan Ha Bay. Small group, no big industry with a huge boat, nice guide, nickel pick up with waiting time quite acceptable for Vietnam.
Highly recommend.
We also made the trip from Cat Ba to Ninh Binh and were very kind to change the time a few days before and drop off at the hotel further from the area for three times nothing.
Choose them with your eyes closed

My experience with Good Morning Cat Ba was subpar. I was ripped off, fed rotten food and the tour only consisted of boating and kayaking. For the price (107€!) I could have paid for 5 people. Zero to recommend. The guide was so obnoxious, loud, disgusting, yelling at everyone and bossing them around. There was no information about the tour, no explanations. Nobody spoke English. The food was disgusting, tasted rotten and I also felt sick after eating rice and peanuts.
After lunch we were driven straight back. There was only kayaking as part of the program. Their kayaks were wet and they were expected to sit in the wet. (Weather was cold, 19 degrees and cloudy).
On the way back we were dropped off on a main street in Hanoi because the city center is closed on Fridays. My hotel was outside the restricted area and I was promised that I would be taken there. I was lied to. And had to walk through Hanoi for 25 minutes with my suitcase.
After lunch we were driven straight back. There was only kayaking as part of the program. Their kayaks were wet and they were expected to sit in the wet. (Weather was cold, 19 degrees and cloudy).

While we went to beautiful places without too many tourists, the tour was disorganised and the advertised itinerary was misleading.
Pros:
- Nice and informative guide on the boat. He was professional and did his job well.
- Beautiful scenery (kayaking was great).
Cons:
- Fewer activities than described. Hiking was advertised although we did not hike. Swimming at multiple locations was advertised. We only swam at one location after lunch.
- Limited communication from the tour company about what to expect. The first and last 3 hours of the 15 hour day are spent in a car or on a grotty car ferry that had almost no protection from the elements. It would have been good to know we needed to bring breakfast as there were limited opportunities to pick up food.
- The fish farm. This was not advertised as a stop on the tour and it was sad to see big fish in such small enclosures.
Overall, not worth the money.

DO NOT BOOK THIS DAY TRIP TO CAT BA ISLAND WITH GOOD MORNING CAT BA. The tour itinerary is misleading, there is very poor communication, we felt unsafe and we were one given one chance to eat throughout a 15-hour tour. This tour is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. We have repeatedly expressed our disappointment to both the company and Trip Advisor/Viator, and they have refused to rectify the situation. We highly recommend choosing another company that has a sense of organization and communication.

As Viato staff and I explained you very clear about your situation :
1/ Before tour depart 1 day : We contacted to pick up you . Because the weather was very bad , Heavy Rain . We Kept safety on first . Our car could not run as normal, That why we lately 5 minutes at ferry station and change to next ferry . We and driver reported to you and other people . Finally we organized the tour in Cat Ba on time and enough of itinerary.
2/ On Our website mention the tour is just include Lunch on boat. You should have breakfast and snack by yourself.

Worked our way through all the possibilities trying to find a tour without the need to spend a night on a boat. This one matched everything we desired. Collected by limousine in Hanoi taken to the ferry. Met by another limmo in Cat Ba. Taken to office then collected other guests around Cat Ba. Taken to authentic boat with 16 people from around the world. Sailed on time.kayaking a fantastic experience. Lunch on the boat ( thanks to captain's wife) 5 star. Swimming time off the boat,visit to fish farm where our guide, whose father has a fish farm,imparted knowledge that was much more than tour guide waffle. Guests all mingled and shared stories,even with two 70 plus pensioners. Met by taxi at the dock and transported back to ferry where return limmo was waiting to take us back to Hanoi. Spectacular day,great guide and throughout exemplary communication, from the company. Can't imagine a better value tour.
