When we booked we were asked what language we wanted (English) however the whole tour was in Vietnamese so unfortunately we didn’t understand anything we were experiencing. It was lovely looking at the city however we missed out on the history behind everything

Very busy, good atmosphere, definitely worthwhile...lots of photos taken. Definitely cooler at night....no commentary that the day tour has, but not needed as seeing the lights

The commentary is very broken. Takes about 5 minutes to start after bus has set off so we were just about to ask driver if he had forgotten to turn it on. When it does start, it is very poor. It interrupts itself with the stop numbers as though they had recorded more material than the journey allowed. It calls out at least two stops using the wrong numbers. When it does work properly it’s still poor. For example it says on your left is building xyz, but there are a number of large buildings - which one is being talked about ? In some cases eg the women’s museum - it is out of sight half a mile away. The commentary also repeats itself at times and the commentators original ums and ers are still in the recording. We’ve been on 3 hop on hop off bus tours in other cities recently and they have been excellent. This one was awful. It clearly has not been properly tested by someone actually on the bus - it’s more like someone recorded the commentary using a map in the recording studio. My wife gave up listening and used Google maps instead.
To make the shambles complete the headphones that are supplied are too short by a few cms so everyone has to hunch forward in their seats to keep it plugged into the back of the seat in front.
I would like my money back.

All the audio is out sync, so its confusing at the best of times. As always, these sort of hop on/off tours are a great option when trying to get your bearings when in a new city. This is probably the worst one that I've ever been on as nothing really makes sense. The complimentary map is probably one of the main positives, and its also great to get around the city without having to worry about waiting 10-15 mins to wait crossing roads. Sentences end mid way through descriptions followed by extended silence, its just a mess unfortunately.
The price is quite high also considering that the service you pay for is almost non-existent.
Would recommend if you want to get a good overview of the city - while also gaining access to some areas of city that you'd struggle to find on foot. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for an educational experience.

We walked to the first stop at Hoàn Kiếm Lake to buy our ticket. You can buy a 4 hour ticket, 24 hour or 48 hour. We bought the 4 hour one as we have seen most sights but wanted to use the bus to get us to the Tran Quoc Pagoda. We got straight on the bus and we given ear phones for the audio guide, bottled water and the use of a Vietnamese hat while we were on the upper deck to protect us from the sun. The upper deck was completely empty so we had a choice of seat.
The bus stops at all the major sights and is easy to get on and off. We waited for the bus after our visit to the Tran Quoc Pagoda and it arrived on time which surprised us as it can get a bit stuck in traffic. It had its own bus stop which was clearly marked with a shelter and seat.
Our only problem was when we picked the audio in English it was in French but you can still enjoy the tour without it.
A great way to enjoy the city.

Probably our only disappointing activity when we were in Hanoi for 9 days in December 2019. We found the staff indifferent, the audio guide perfunctory and the hop on, hop off stops difficult to find at street level, as we spent more time looking for them than at the sight-seeing spots we visited. We were glad to get back to our starting point.
Not recommended.

My new travel buddy and i decided to take this bus to see the sights of Hanoi before commencing our Intrepid tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. We were not disappointed. We took the entire route first, then decided where we wanted to get off and what to see. A great way to see a beautiful city. You get earphones and commentary in 12 lanuages. Its a must do in Hanoi.

A very convenient way to get a good idea of what you may wish to visit whilst in the City. We did the whole round trip in its entirety, then stopped on the bus to go to the destinations we wanted to spend more time in. After our visit to our chosen attraction, we jumped back on the bus for our next destination. Earphones provided, the pre-recorded tour guide available in many languages so you could listen to as much or as little as you liked. Not expensive, vehicles clean and in good repair. Very well organised.

Upon arrival in Hanoi, the first thing Hubby and I did was look for a Hop-On, Hop-Off tour bus service so we could get the low-down on the city's most important attractions. Turns out there are three similar tour bus services in Hanoi. We weren't able to book 24-hour passes online with any bus company though for same day service, so we inquired at our hotel's tour desk.
The hotel sells tickets for the red bus tour, both the 24-hour and the 48-hour passes. We were able to buy passes to board the same afternoon. Stop #1 at Hoam Kien Lake was only a 3-block walk from our hotel, so it was obviously meant to be.
We paid $39.00 USD for two passes, which I thought excessive for a city with Hanoi's economy. But the other two companies were similarly priced. We boarded the bus, which was waiting at the lake when we arrived, and were each handed a complimentary bottle of water and a set of earbuds. The newer model bus, which had comfortable seats, departed precisely at 2:00 p.m.
The audio spiel is recorded in a dozen or more languages. Only one side of the earbuds worked for both my set and Hubby's set. The audio recording didn't seem to be working properly because sometimes it would cut off mid-sentence to announce a stop. Or sometimes it would repeat the same sentence twice. It was clear enough to get the general message. The max volume could have been louder.
Unfortunately a tropical storm was arriving as we boarded the bus, so we weren't able to sit on the open-air upper deck, where the views are so much better. We weren't interested in getting soaking wet. I couldn't get any decent photos through rain splattered windows downstairs either, so no pix this trip.
We stayed on the bus during the 75-minute route and listened to information about thirteen different attractions, including the opera house, several government buildings, historical sites, a women's museum, a temple, pagodas, etc. My favorite was the world's largest tile mosaic, constructed in 2007 with 700,000 3-inch tiles, in honor of the 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi. This gorgeous work of art is four miles long. Craftsman from all over the world helped design and assemble it.
I enjoyed getting a feel for the city on the tour bus, getting a glimpse of some of the stunning French architecture downtown. Had it not been raining, we'd have stopped at Hanoi's most famous ice cream maker. Maybe tomorrow, before our 24-hour passes expire.
