All the restaurants we stopped at were populated with locals, so the food is the real deal, and all delicious. Thom is a great storyteller and shared insights on Vietnamese food, its history, how it’s made, etc. A thoroughly engaging 4 hours. Totally recommend.

We had such a good afternoon with Thom:
* The food was fantastic, varied and plentiful
* Thom was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and interesting
* Riding around the city by cyclos was a lot of fun
* And we went all around the city - so we got to explore parts of the city we hadn't been to yet

Very good activity. Thom is passionate and enthusiastic. He made us taste a lot of good things from the market. He adapts to the group he is with: we can be fast, we can take our time and I think the course is not the same depending on our interest. Cycling is worth it. I loved the late salt coffee I hadn't had the courage to taste not usually drinking coffee and the ginger tea was decoyant...

Thim was a thoughtful , organised, knowledgeable and charming guide. We’d not realised it was on cyclos- and would have avoided them- but they were actually a fun and efficient way of seeing a lot more of Hue than we’d have managed on foot. Plus they made dealing with the traffic much simpler! We had expert drivers who made us feel safe and comfortable. Each of the food stops was well thought through. Thom gave excellent explanations of each dish, and put it into context of when and why locals ate it. The trip to the food market was a highlight. He knew exactly where to take us and selected some interesting fruits that we got to try later. I enjoyed his explanations of the medicinal qualities of the various foods. - fascinating! I learnt a lot and really enjoyed this tour. A real highlight. He also had a printed list with everything we were visiting (and eating) o n it which really helped the pacing! And excellent English skills. Thanks Thom and thank you to our drivers.

Best tour we've done in Vietnam. Really amazing experience and such a wide and varied amount of dishes. Thom was brilliantly informative and answered so many questions I had about the food. Loved seeing the market too.

We had a fun street food tour with Thom. We loved taking the Cyclos (the drivers made us feel very safe) and Thom ensured we had a great time, showing us lots of food and places we never would have tried, including the local market. Thom made sure we were comfortable, including helping us in and out of the cyclos and providing hand sanitizer and wipes. He was very knowledgeable and spoke great English as well. Would recommend.

This was probably one of the best food walking tours we’ve ever done. Thom has done his research really well and took us to some gems of tiny places that have been cooking their recipes for at least decades. We were transported round Hue in cycle tuk tuks and moved from one side of the river to the other. Everything was delicious and we got to understand and appreciate the history and process to make each dish. A highlight was being shown round the market and picking fruit that we wanted to taste. Could not recommend more highly.

100% recommended! This was the best food tour I've had out of many, because Thom is very interactive. He provides a smart, well-spoken, authentic perspective on Hue's food, culture, and history. He also easily answered all of my strange questions about Vietnamese customs. Walking around a market with Thom was a totally way better experience than on my own. I would never have found the places he took us, or known how to order them. I support his choice to hire cyclo drivers for transit, instead of motorbikes or vans - it's a quiet and slow way to appreciate the city. Thom really looks out for you - he's especially attentive to safety- for food and transit - which was unique and comforting.

We had an outstanding 3-4 hour food tour with Thom around many small restaurants and the market in Hue. We sampled many different and delicious dishes- make sure you are hungry! Thom spoke excellent English and was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food we ate and Vietnamese traditions more generally. We travelled on cyclos and saw different parts of the city which was fun.
If you only have time for one activity in Hue, this tour is highly recommended.
Thom was also very helpful in organising a very reasonable private car to take us from Hue to Hoi An, stopping at Lang Co lagoon for refreshments, Hai Van pass, the Lady Buddha and The Marble mountains.
Contact Thom directly by WhatsApp for an instant reply. (Number on his website Hue Flavor Street Food Tour) Tripadvisor had no spaces for 3 days but we messaged Thom in the morning and had a tour booked for the afternoon.
Overall, a superb experience!
If you only have time for one activity in Hue, this tour is highly recommended.

There was so much delicious food! Go hungry and be ready to roll home.
We ate 13 varieties of food, had a beer and tea, and took away some snacks for later.
Thom was careful with both food safety and road safety. He was prepared with wipes and sanitiser.
Thom shared lots of knowledge about the food, and took us to specialist producers.
