Petra is a wonderful place and should not be missed if any where near. Our trip left Eilat right on time. The tour staff at the border was well organized and got us across efficiently. The Jordanian bus and driver were great. Our tour guide, Adnan was great. Extremely knowledgeable since he's also an archeologist. He kept us on schedule.

This company offers tourists trap tours to Petra. You reach at 1pm to Petra and have around 2.5 hour to explore. They promise in the day trip itinerary that you will reach at 11:30am to petra and have 4-5 hours to explore. This will never happen. Please be aware. 2.5 hours at Petra will not give you time to see anything. Such a disappointment. Classic tourist trap. They don't even answer their support phone. Worst service I have ever seen in my life.

Petra is a unique place that is worth the visit. Getting there is a schlep, though. I reserved a day tour from Eilat (Petra from Israel) that promised that only 25 people were to join. It started well, picking us up from the designated point on time in a nice minivan. They took us to the border. We crossed the border to Jordan by foot (that is the way to go) but on the other side we were left for almost 2 hours with no guidance. Finally the responsible person arrived and took forever to register everyone (we were waiting for a group that was coming from Tel Aviv...I am not sure why we stayed overnight in Eilat to get there earlier and have more time in Petra...that did not happen because we had to wait for the other group of people). The bus then loaded 35 people and 3 hours and half more on the road. The tour guide was too politicized explaining why his religion was better than others...I wish he gave us more historical facts about Petra. Then, in the city of Petra, we had to wait for him to go to headquarters to get the money to buy the tickets for us to get to Petra (there is no cashflow? Or why another employee could not have given us our tickets in front of the main gate when we got out of the bus? Then you walk more 2.5 km in bad surface, but Petra is unbelievable - the first view of the treasury getting out of the canyon is unforgettable. Tips: take everything you need - hat, sunscreen, water, small US bills and toilet paper. Be careful with the donkeys and their owners - they run over you. Enjoy the place - it is magical. And do more homework to get a better tour agency (although it seems to me they mix and match from different groups to maximize their earnings. Going back was faster and quick to pass the border.

Awesome experience.
We had a delay on the Jordanian border.
I would recommend a two day tour so you can go till the end of the road.
Despite that, everything was great.

Travelers spent a LOT of time waiting while groups came from different places and departed on 1,2 & 3 day tours. But we waited at least an hour at the beginning and again while all was coordinated. I am sure this was cost efficient for the tour company, but customers paid for it. The bus, food and lodging were quite nice. The guide was not very informative. Recommend people hire a private guide, I hear it isnt much more expensive.

AVOID THIS TOUR GROUP! My wife and I took the one day tour to Petra, departing from Eilat (it's same tour with people departing from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem). The tour was very poorly organized. The problem started at the border crossing, which took over two hours to complete. Our handler on the Jordanian side was overwhelmed checking in the number of people on one-day, two day and longer bookings from multiple tour companies, and collecting border crossing and visa fees. The visa issuance process in Jordan was chaos, with tour guides from other companies allowed to cut in line to expedite processing of others while members of our group kept getting pushed back. We then lost additional time waiting for late arrivals at a shopping mall in Aqaba, and then waiting for stragglers in the group shopping at a "resthouse" giftshop outside Petra. The itinerary estimated that we would arrive in Petra at 11:30 am but we didn't arrive in Petra until after 2:30 pm -- which left us less than 2 hours to explore the park before we were all expected to meet back at a restaurant to return to Israel. Due to the extremely compressed schedule, most of us skipped the guided tour of the park and the 4 pm "lunch" at the restaurant (which we paid for as part of the tour package) to give ourselves a little more time to explore Petra. When we eventually met back at the bus at 5:15, we then had to wait another hour in the Petra parking lot for two people in the group who returned late. (We've taken tours in other countries and the guides firmly warned participants that they will be left behind if they don't return to the bus on time!). This one day tour for my wife and I cost over $700 USD in various fees, for barely two hours in Petra. We were very disappointed and don't recommend.

Quite disappointed by this tour. The border crossing took so much time, of was rediculous. According to the itinerary, we would leave the Jordanian side at 9.15 a.m. Because the explanation was so unnecessarily long and everything took so much time (and it wasn't even busy at the border), we left the border at 10.30. We arrived in Petra at 13.15 israeli time instead of 11.30 and we had to be back at 16.30. Instead of 5 hours in Petra, we got a little over 2.5 hours. That is way too short! I believe it is not fair to sell an excursion of 5 hours when you get just half of the time!! On top of that, the organisation claims that their groups or no larger than 25 people. I think the group was almost 50 people. That also makes it much slower. The only good things were the guide who tried to make the best of it, the driver and Petra itself. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this tour and to be safe, i wouldn't take a one day tour to Petra. Make it at least 2 days to make sure you will actually get to see Petra.

The process to cross the borders from Israel to Jordan is long and cumbersome. A lot of time is getting wasted, and you don't have enough time at Petra.

Perfect!you can know Petra in 1 day. Depends if you walk fast are if yo (and your group) are well trained to go up and down. I don't know the climate there in Petra in winter.
Two days if you want to stay a night in Wadi Rum to see the stars (I haven't done this last experience but pople told me that was fantastic)
