This was a perfect tour, air-conditioned the entire way on the bus. Nice and early start so I could get the best photos with no proplr in them. Very greatful!

Hi, I recently ended, with great regret, a 3 day private trip to Aswan and Abu Simbel organized by SANSIMON TRAVEL AND TOURISM. I say "with great regret" because it was a wonderful trip and I wish it hadn't ended so quickly.
It is true that it was quite difficult, because we started from Hurghada and the distance traveled by car was long, and I chose the most inappropriate time for such a trip, that is, in the middle of summer, when the temperatures are very high. But my guide, Sameh tried and even managed to ensure comfortable enough travel conditions for me, so that the distance and heat remained just details.
I didn't have time to get bored on the way because Sameh has a lot of things to tell, not only about the sights we had on the schedule and the history of 3000 years ago, but also about the recent history of his country and about the people who are now achieving impressive things in Egypt, despite the strange conditions that nature offers. It was a pleasure to listen to him, because he talks with a lot of passion and a lot of love for his country and his people.
In fact, the whole trip was a pleasure, because I achieved the main goal (visiting the temples and the dam), but I also had surprises along the way: accommodation in the Nubian village where you feel like in another world, the visit to the house with crocodiles, the felucca ride and the visit to the botanical garden and the sweetest and most fragrant mango I have ever eaten.

I feel the need to write two reviews in one. The first review is about the tour, and the second review is about the tour operator.
The tour to Abu Simbel is straightforward. Like most, I got up early (3:30 a.m. in my case due to my hotel location) and took a car to meet a van that then drove a few hours to the temple complex. We ended up waiting a moderate amount of time for the van to meet us, but given police controls and other issues, I'm willing to let that pass.
The temple is impressive. If you've already seen the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, you may be underwhelmed by the carvings, color, and relief, but it's still something to behold due to its size, scale, and the history and engineering behind how it was moved from where it would have been to submerged with the building of the high damn to the new/current site.
My tour was supposed to be a private tour, but my tour guide engaged other individuals during the tour to include them for additional money, which was distracting and unpleasant, particularly given the short time typically available to visit the temples. Despite this, my tour guide had studied archaeology, and his passion for the topic was clear and enjoyable. He did a good job providing background, and I appreciated the excitement with which he answered questions.
Tour experience: 4 stars.
Now for the tour operator. Egypt Sansimon Travel and Tourism is awesome. Without going into too much detail, the fellow that runs it is an awesome guy. I'll say, somewhat sadly, that interactions with him are one of the few times in Egypt that I felt like somebody was doing something out of sincere care and desire to make a connection. I appreciated his kindness and his openness.

One of the very beautiful historical sites of ancient Egypt, of course you have to drive 7 hours in the desert there and back, from Aswan

Super easy and convenient. We got there ahead of other tour groups so we had the temple to ourselves the first 20-30min!

Awesome trip - We started early at 4:00 am pick up at our hotel but the van was very comfortable and the ride was smooth. We reached by 8:00 am and were there for about 2 hrs to visit both temples. Sam called us before and after the trip with his warm and welcoming services. Overall we had a wonderful experience.

Worth the 0330 am pickup time! The tour says it starts at 5am but that is not true pickup time is at 0330 to be at checkpoint at 5. BUT very worth the early pickup times because able to get in before all the big tour bus companies!

Why this is not one of the wonders of the world I do not know, because it IS. Everything about this temple is amazing; it's really two temples as Ramses had a second smaller one made for his favourite wife Nefertari, although unless she has a beard then Ramses the Dude also has his own face on the outside!
But I love this guy, Ramses 2nd. He has so much energy and heart and faith and spiritual ability, and he designed a lovely spacious temple with many cool shady pillars and rooms. There are four statues of him outside and an avenue of him leading up to the Inner Sanctum, which has the three gods, seated with...Ramses himself, also as a god!
It's worth coming and staying 2 nights in this small town, so that you can see the temple by sunrise and sunset and the Sound and Light too. There is a restaurant inside the entry area which is decent, and an avenue of small shops at which you can bargain if you wish, or completely avoid by walking on the road instead, but I got some good small ornaments here in the shops and the locals are friendly.
I was staying at the very good Applicators Hotel, an odd name perhaps but the manager explained it to me. I reached the temple by riding in these small carts I called Truktruks, bumpy and loud and fun. I am sure you can find a more sedate taxi if you wish

5am is the time we were picked up from the city center. So we arrived Abu Simbel roughly around 8:30am. That’s when it is most busy. If you want to avoid the crowds, then you’d want to go around 12pm afterwards because that’s when all the tour buses leave. However, I think they make these tours quite early since it is less hot in the early morning. If you make the tour private, then I think you can arrange your arrival time.

We will be visiting Aswan in November 2023 via a Nile river cruise ship. For the Abu Simbel temple tour do you have pick up and return to the ship service included without extra charge? What is the entrance fee to the temple? If we took the 4:00AM tour do we get back to the ship at 12:00 PM? Thank you.

We made our own arrangements for Abu Simbel via Egypt sansimon travel (Sami Atito on viator). We had the best experience. Very professional, will accommodate request and reliable. He will make sure you get back on your ship before it leaves for the next port. Sami is the best
