We had very limited time in Egypt after attending a conference in Cairo so decided on a 3 day cruise on the River Nile and chose Charlie The Traveler for our customized tour. We had just an absolutely marvelous time! From the moment that guide Hesham picked us up at the airport and throughout the full 3 days, we were simply delighted. Hesham was so great to work with us and adjust the itinerary according to our abilities and physical well being. He told us which sites were very important and which ones were closed so that we could choose. He never acted hurried, or tried to push us. And yet we saw so very much! He is very knowledgeable and we learned so much. In many ways, the trip was a historical journey into ancient Egypt, as expected. But what we did not expect was the deeply spiritual nature of what we saw. We were able to connect with the origins of our own religion through the ancient religions we saw depicted. Hesham was just great and his English is excellent so we felt that we were not losing knowledge in translation.
The tour itself was extremely well laid out! Thank you for taking our considerations into account as you shaped the trip. We definitely were glad to see the dam and Aswan before we boarded for the cruise. And that was just fantastic! The attendants on the boat were so very very helpful and gracious. The room was super comfortable and we loved the large window. We also were glad for the comfortable bed. What a difference that makes. What a beautiful river. Unfortunately for us, the wind was pretty strong and a bit cold so we did not stay up on the deck very much, so it was great to have the room as an option. And we felt that the food was very good and quite a variety. It was just great!
As for all the sites, it was beyond imagination. I cannot tell you how amazing it was. We had to cut back on some of them due to the stamina of my husband, but we felt that we got the most out of everything. As I said above, Hesham was great and he also was able to get us in the front of the lines, which also helped. Thank you so much for planning such an important and spectacular itinerary.
And thank you for the two hotels, the one in Luxor was spectacular and they were so gracious to allow us to stay for an extra two hours in our room and then to use the facilities until we had to leave for the airport. The one near Cairo airport was perfect location, but just basic. All we needed for that night, though.
All the drivers were excellent, careful drivers, and very friendly.
All in all, we cannot say enough about the amazing time we had. Thanks you so so much for everything. I will certainly recommend Charlie The Traveler!!

With great anticipation, I embarked upon a journey to Jordan and Egypt with Charlie the Traveler, lured by the seductive promises of their videos and descriptions that seemingly breathed new life into the very notion of wanderlust. Regrettably, the experience as a whole proved to be an utter disappointment, particularly in light of the exorbitant fees associated with the overall tour package.
The initial stages of the excursion were marred by the incessant demands for gratuities from local guides and the abysmal quality of the Nile Cruise, culminating in an altogether distressing affair. Following a candid discussion with Charles, certain ameliorations were implemented during the latter half of the trip, such as the provision of water on our road trips and the cessation of the aforementioned gratuity solicitations. However, one cannot help but feel that these improvements should have been a foregone conclusion.
My overall rating: 2.5 stars

You purchased our Israel tour. You told us you would purchase travel insurance within 72 hours of booking our tour and later admitted you lied about it. War broke out in Israel and you were unable to recover the losses. Had you purchased the insurance we required, you would not have had this problem. You decided to purchase our Egypt tour as the replacement to your vacation in Israel. Nonetheless, every single phone call with us, you complained about spending too much money, literally months before the Egypt tour even began. You ended up purchasing travel insurance too late and when you didn’t recover the money from them, you demanded it from us. You first demanded this money from us yesterday, literally 2 weeks after your Egypt tour was completed. When we respectfully declined your unreasonable request, literally within hours you wrote not 1, not 2 but 3 negative reviews. We have screenshot proof you praised your tour guides. 2 weeks after your tour ended and only hours after we declined to hand you money because your new travel insurance didn’t give you money for something which happened (war in Israel) pre-purchase did you suddenly have problems with our guides. We have screenshot proof you were praising our guides. Your story fundamentally changed once your travel insurance did not pay you and we did not pay you for your failure to get proper travel insurance in time. In short, you purchased our tour, told us you got travel insurance within 72 hours, lied about it, couldn’t recover losses for something covered by insurance, then tried to get insurance to get coverage retroactively, your experiment went bad, then demanded the money from us and when you didn’t get that money, you immediately wrote a negative review making up stories about tour guides you previously praised.
