A lovely boat ride across the Nile, Mohamed Mahmoud was our excellent guide who explained to us about some of the wildlife, the importance of the Nile to the Egyptians both today and historically, parts of the Egyptian culture.
On banana island we only saw a small part of the island due to it getting dark (we did know this when we booked the trip - but only had a short amount of time so used all that we could) but we saw some fabulous art work, and had the most exquisite authentic Egyptian meal. The restaurant was beautifully rustic, the staff were happy to help, polite and friendly, they went out of their way to accommodate us and the food was divine, especially the fish.
Mohamed and AlHassany Travel were incredibly helpful in organising this and then guiding us. We would strongly recommend to anyone to take this short trip to enjoy the Nile and some delicious food.

The price was fair for the boat ride and a very good meal, but the guide just made the experience worse! He starts by pretending he waited 1h for us when we arrived on time. When we arrive at the island he didn’t give any information about the island, just took us to an area with caged animals very close to the restaurant and showed us the banana trees on the way. All the time he was being very stressful, always grabbing more attention to him, trying so hard to please in a very fake way which was obvious he only wanted a tip. The food was excellent and the restaurant owner seemed genuinely nice without talking too much, stressing us or asking for tips all the time. When he offered us bananas, the guide told us he asked him to give us the bananas… This guide was constantly desperate for attention, constantly interrupting us and pretending to be nice. The best times were when he was talking on his phone so at least he is not annoying us and we can enjoy the experience in peace. When we got back to the hotel the guide followed us INSIDE THE HOTEL LOBBY constantly harassing for tips!
We enjoyed visiting banana island just for the boat ride, the food they served us and the delicious bananas! But we would have liked it more without this annoying guide. There was one driver, another person to operate the boat and people at the island serving us, the guide was not needed there, he did nothing besides stressing us.
1 star for the guide and 5 stars for the rest so 3 stars average.

The experience started badly...
We agreed in the morning of the tour with the two people at the travel desk in our hotel to start this tour at 16:30.
At 16:20 we were in the lobby and had to hear our guide saying that he waited for us one hour which felt like a lie, firstly if there was a mistake might have been between him and the people at the travel desk, second if he was waiting for us he should have asked someone in the lobby to call our room but no one called to say some guide is waiting for us.
Anyway, we get in a car then a short boat ride and in 20 minutes we got to the island.
The boat ride was nice and we also liked the island where we met a nice man, which I think was the owner of the restaurant.
He served us a rich and good lunch and also offered bananas.
We went to see the island with our guide that felt like he was in a constant hurry, showed us very fast like in 5 minutes some caged monkeys and the trees… very sad to see caged monkeys on a BANANA island…
I asked him to translate a sign with some arabic writing but he avoided telling me what it says there.
I wanted to take pictures of the island and the trees and he would come in a hurry grab my phone and walk very fast in front to take pictures of us that I didn’t ask… nothing that he showed us on the island that we couldn’t discover walking alone, even a boat is very easy to find to get there…
I think there is no need of guide to see this island, he took any oportunity to disappear and talk at the phone anyway.
I will rate this 3 stars because of the island itself and the man that serves you in the restaurant which we tipped because he was nice, quiet and polite to us, he didn’t streess us and offered lots of bananas, even to take to hotel (even tho the guide kept coming at our table and try to take credit for that too…).
Anyway it ended as bad as it started:)) we weren’t please with the guide’s service so we went straight to the lobby, no tipping. He followed us inside kept saying it’s the last time we will see him, and so on basically trying to get a tip in a more elegant way…

Merci Mohammed ! C'était une belle expérience, île au banane avec malheureusement des animaux en captivité mais belle visite des temples ( avec guide ) très bien organisé
