Little bit of everything

The actual museam and museum guide there were great and very informative. The reason for the lower rating was scheduling mistake by the company. My reservation was in the morning, but they had it in the afternoon. So I ended up sitting at my pickup spot for an hour and a half after my reservation time. When I contacted the company to see where the person was to take me out to the museum (and sending a screenshot of my reservation time) they did work hard to get a driver there as soon as they could to pick me up. So in the end it did work out.

Fantastic Visit to Karen Blixen Museum

My guide was absolutely delighted and shared a wealth of knowledge! I’ve watched Out of Africa many many times and loved the tour. A must see!

Tutto bello, ma scandaloso il biglietto a due….velocità

Sono tornato per la terza volta in pochi anni. Tutto, per fortuna in questo caso, è rimasto quasi immutato, compresi gli oggetti che appartenevano alla scrittrice, per lo più copie degli originali, che si trovano invece nel museo della Danimarca. Le guide sono tante e piene di buona volontà. Una certa trascuratezza comunque si comincia a notare. E purtroppo il costo del biglietto è scandaloso per la diversità di trattamento tra turisti e locali. I primi devono pagare 1200 scellini (8 euro circa), i secondi meno di 2 euro. Comunque vale la pena, se non altro,per trascorrere qualche ora nel meraviglioso circostante parco.

Buon pomeriggio. Grazie per aver lasciato un commento sulla tua recente visita al Museo Karen Blixen. È un ottimo posto nella storia. Il luogo è gestito dal Museo Nazionale, un organo del governo del Kenya. Fanno pagare i turisti in modo diverso dalla gente del posto. C'è uno sforzo per incoraggiare la gente del posto a visitare i centri del patrimonio nazionale del paese e quindi il motivo per cui pagano meno. Speriamo che cercheranno di mantenere il posto come è stato lasciato in modo che i fatti nella storia rimangano invariati. Grazie per aver dedicato del tempo a visitare. Sono sicuro che non sarà l'ultima volta ma una delle tante a venire. I benvenuti

Out of Africa in Karen’s footsteps

If you watched the movie or read the book “ out of Africa” then seeing the Karen Blixen museum is well worth the visit......and the volunteer guides are a nice touch as they are well versed and very pationate.

Thanks, Julie. Anyone who loved Out of Africa, will love this museum in the farmhouse where author Karen Blixen lived between 1914 and 1931. She left after a series of personal tragedies, but the lovely colonial house has been preserved as a museum. Set in expansive gardens, the museum is an interesting place to wander around, but the movie was actually shot at a nearby location, so don’t be surprised if things don’t look entirely as you expect!
