I would strongly recommend this tour as it would be difficult to know about the significance of the different buildings and halls and the rich history of the former inhabitants in the Forbidden City without one.
Our guide Miko was very knowledgeable and shared a great deal on the more significant historical events, people and stories of the palace across the dynasties. He was also helpful and funny too. A worthwhile experience!

Clear and humorous explanation of the whole itinerary. Walk a lot but learn a lot too. Will recommend friends to join this tour if they are going to Beijing and Tiananmen.

Miko is an outstanding tour guide! He provided us with a lot of interesting facts about the forbidden city. He also has a good sense of humour which made the walking tour very fun and memorable.

Miko (our guide) was very knowledgeable about the places that we visited - Tian a men square and the forbidden city. He was quick on his feet when there were unforeseen circumstances eg closing of an entrance to the tian an men square because of an official visit/ event. He paid for the bus tickets for the group and always ensured that everyone was safe, present and accounted for.
He gave us a comprehensive tour and information about the 2 places and also about some notable events in Chinese history. Though the forbidden city was very big, he was skillful in bringing us to places where we could see history come to life.he was also very lighthearted in his approach and always had audience participation by asking us some questions. He also shared about the daily life of the Chinese people and the circumstances that they face.
Very very satisfied with the tour. Even though it was a long tour, Miko managed to keep the mood enjoyable, lighthearted and enjoyable. Best tour guide!!

Great experience on the four hours private tour with MiKO. He had lots of interesting stories and antidotes and stories about the history of Forbidden palace.

We had Miko as our tour guide for visiting the forbidden city. He is well in historical knowlegeable and makes the trip attractive and fun. We really enjoy it! Thanks for bring us the unforgettable memories!

The trip was amazing and entertaining. We were assigned to MIKO, who was very informative about the history of the Forbidden City.
MIKO was very fluent in English, so we had no trouble understanding the information he provided.
P.S. MIKO loves Kobe Bryant, so if you’re assigned to him, you’ll probably have a great conversation about basketball!!

Very easy to follow, very engaging and an overall fun experience. Wasn’t our first time in forbidden city but still amazed at how much we didn’t know from before. Miko is an AMAZING tour guide, very informative, very responsible and very funny 😂. Honestly it did not feel like 4 hours at all, and i wish we had more time even to see more stuff inside!

My guide came to pick me up at the hotel and we took the metro to Tiananmen Square, but I already had a metro card so I guess that’s what it means :) you pay for your public transportation fare!

Fair point but I’m afraid it is per person. It’s great walking past the queues for Tiannamen Square security and Forbidden City entrance though as all that is taken care of. The pick up also means someone will arrive at your hotel and then you have to arrange transport to T Square but the metro is easy and you end up getting an extra bit of info as you travel to the staring point together. Hope that helps.

It's possible. You'll need a get a private tour guide with his own car. And, allow 2-3 hours at the airport to check in before your filght, if it's an international flight

Does it make sense to spend a whole day in the Forbidden CIty ? Is it possible to see all rooms, or only the rooms that have been refurnished ? I will have my kids with me, just worried that everything will start looking the same after 3-4 hours of looking room after room. Thanks!

There are 9000+ rooms. You can peer into some of them. This tour did the west side of the city. You are free after the tour to see the rest. I thought 4 hours was plenty
