I did a self-guided tour. I found the company to be very professional, they communicated well and everything was lined up before my arrival. While I was riding I had a direct line of communication to help me with a couple of issues. I managed to overlap 3 days with a guided tour given by Francisco from the rental company, and it was a nice change from riding alone, and I benefited from his knowledge of the country. Can't wait for my next trip.

Thanks Roman for your review. It was a pleasure to prepare things for you and the Royal Enfield you had in your self guided tour.
Pancho from Ecuador Bike Rental by Sleipner was around those days in a guided tour and luckily matched with yours at he beach and Amazon basin. It was a lovely coincidence for sure.
Once again, thanks for choosing us and we hope to see you pretty soon. Best of lucks over there specially on these days.

Must admit I had to look up where Ecuador was – knew it was South America… somewhere. Three SA rookies and two vets of a couple of trips. From the minute we touched down all was great. David and Francisco met us at their shop of Saturday to load up. Sunday we were escorted out of town and the rest is absolute joy.
Mountain riding that we could only dream of. More twists and corners that we could have imagined. (makes the tail of the dragon seem tame)
From the Amazon jungle (swimming in Napo River) to the mountains around Banos (two days there next time) to the beaches of Montanita and Puerta Lopez. It was thrilling.
Waking up atop a mountain overlooking Quilotoa Lake or the first sighting of Chimborazo or Cotopaxi is etched in my mind.
Almost 2,500 hard riding KM’s the bikes were great. Two flat tires just added to the trip. Francisco met us in Banos to bring two spare tubes – plus change the batteries in two bikes – (they we not happy with their new source and changed them out). Plus he stayed and showed us some sites we might have missed!!
Sadly the two weeks flew by and we soon headed home to Canada – (not before playing around on the Equator).
Might have been the trip of a lifetime except we are planning next years already.
Sleipner Bike Rentals – David and Francisco were excellent hosts and their tour was nothing but first class.
“hasta que nos encontremos de nuevo” (well that was Google translate!”

Our minister in South Carolina, USA came up with the idea of a motorcycle mission trip to visit the people of Ecuador and spread the good news. We rented bikes from Sleipner and set out from Quito. The bikes were good, late model, well maintained machines (BMW, Suzuki, Honda) of relatively large displacement. We drove 800 miles through the Andes mountain tops to the Amazon basin and back. There were no mechanical difficulties. Our group of 8 had a confusing, disorganized start through the crowded streets of Quito, and we soon became lost and separated. The Sleipnir manager, David Garces, found us using tracking devices that are installed routinely on the bikes. He brought the group back together, and then gave us a pep talk including suggesting how the group could ride together in formation and in order to insure we stayed together. His information was invaluable, and we used it throughout our week long journey. It turned into a super trip for us all, with incomparable motorcycling through dazzlingly beautiful mountains, and jungle. I have ridden motorcycles for many years, but this was the best motorcycle trip of my life. I strongly recommend Sleipnir.

What an amazing trip. Bikes were in great shape (tires, mechanicals, etc). David and his staff arranged a great trip with winding mountain paved roads and some obscure dirt roads. All our accommodations were pre-booked and never disappointed. From Quito to Montanita to Banos and back we went through many climate zones and amazing scenery. Road to Quilatoa is a must do with 20km of new pavement and awesome switchbacks.
