We bought tickets on site in early May. It was not crowded on a weekday. The structure of the bunker itself was interesting to see. History exhibits included information on the World War II era as well as Cold War events. Some historical exhibits included archival radio or television components. Before paying extra for the audio guide, be sure the app works on your phone. My android phone said the app was old and incompatible.

Interesting experience. If you are really into history you could spend a whole day here. Some of the exhibits are very creative/interactive and we enjoyed these the most. It's very eerie down there and not suitable for anyone with claustrophobia but it is mind opening. We found it a little heavy on the written info. and would love to see more visual/interactive elements and simple explanations in the future.
Worth noting that the ticket office is cash only and the exhibit is a 500m walk from the ticket booth so make sure you allow enough time for your visit. You can catch bus 11 from the city centre or take a taxi as it is near the cable car station a little way out of the city centre. It is worth the trip.

A historical museum that included many exhibits, artifacts, documents, letters, photographs, etc. These include: Albania under German occupation and Fascist Italy, diplomacy, post war, and liberation. It's a fabulous history and political museum. It's a must visit and I highly recommend touring this bunker!

First, let me explain there are 2 Bunkart museums in Tirana: Bunkart 1 and 2.
Bunkart 1 is at the capital's outskirts, while the 2 is in the city center.
Although tougher to reach Bunkart 1 is better, bigger, quite unique and more interesting, so make an extra effort to visit it.
I cannot advise how to reach it as we went there by car self driving. For those planning the same it's a 15-20 min drive from the center through chaotic Tirana traffic and you can park just in front of the entrance (a long tunnel leading to the ticket booth).
Bunkart 1 tells the 20 cent Albania history, from pre WWII times, Italy occupation, WWII and partisan resistance and Enver Hoxha's communist regime coming to power. The exhibits are set in original rooms of the former bunker.
Have in mind that you're in an original bunker Hohxa built for himself and high ranked regime officials - it's the biggest bunker out of around 170.000 built during his regime when he was obssesed with paranoid ideas to protect Albania from foreign attacks.
Besides learning history the highlights are his own apartment, prime minister's apartment and assembly hall made for meetings during "nuclear attacks".
All the rooms have English explanations, very informative which is a big plus and I found that in all places I've visited throughout Albania during our 2 week tour.
The bunker temperature is significantly lower, so bring a sweater or light jacket.
Count on around 1,5 - 2 hrs for proper visit.
TIP: you can combine Bunkart 1 with the Dajti Express cable car which is just 5 min walk from it in order not to come in the suburbs twice. However, if tight on time choose Bunkart 1 which is a must, the cable car is ordinary (read that review).

This was a good museum walking you through a massive, perfectly preserved nuclear bunker from the communist era. I enjoyed the variety in the exhibits, with plenty of written information, but also audio-based exhibits, visual exhibits, art, and genuine historical paraphernalia from the time period. I walked in knowing nothing about the history of Albania, and walked out with a solid grasp on how Albania was impacted by WWII, how the communist regime took over, and what life was like during their rule. Great way to see something interesting and learn a lot about how Albania's modern culture came to be.

This is not your regular, stuffy museum! The exhibition displays relics of a not so distant past when Albania was one of the most secretive and mysterious countries in geographical Europe. Its paranoid dictator created a Bunkerization Project during the Cold War which resulted in tens of thousands of bunkers being built across Albania. This particular bunker in Tirana was designed to shelter up to 300 military personnel, including some of the countries most important men, and was opened to the public in 2014 as a museum.
On arrival at the bunker you pass through a long, dark tunnel leading to the entrance of the exhibition. Once inside the bunker itself you can explore the furnished rooms, walk through long, eerie corridors and peruse Albania's history from 1939 to the fall of Communism. Air raid sirens sound and original news reels play on the old television sets giving a really authentic experience. The exhibition gives a terrifying insight into the paranoia of Enver Hoxha and the propaganda and violence used during his rule. Visiting Bunk'Art was a chilling and fascinating look into a country that most people in Western Europe know very little about. Despite being 20m below ground, this reached way above any expectations I had of the museum and I would recommend it to anyone interested in history, politics or urban exploration.
Reaching Bunk'Art from the city centre is relatively straight forward. There is a bus departing from the main square, destined for 'Linze', that will take you near the bunker in around 15 minutes, costing about 30p, then from the bus stop there is a 10 minute walk. We decided to walk the whole way which took about 40 minutes in total and is a great option if you have the time. Entry to Bunk'Art cost about £3.60.
