We enjoyed the town, but was nothing remarkable. We found our guide Martin difficult. Although enthusiastic and well-meaning, we found that he spent too much time on poorly executed jokes and not enough time on Plovdiv!

Ausflug war gut organisiert. Bus war pünktlich, sauber und in bestem Zustand. Der Guide Martin war sehr freundlich und ist auf alle Fragen oder Wünsche eingegangen. In diesen Punkten war die Tour ausgezeichnet. Auch das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis scheint unschlagbar. Einen Stern Abzug bei der Tour selbst. Man sieht einige Hotspots in der Altstadt, alles ziemlich überlaufen. Zu mehr reicht die Zeit auch nicht. Vielleicht ein bisschen teurer machen und dafür eine Stunde länger, wo man auch mal etwas abseits der Hotspots etwas zu sehen bekommt. Aber alles in allem eine sehr schöne Tour.

If you're in Sofia, this is an excellent trip well worth the 2hr coach journey. Our bus was clean, the tour guide Martin was very knowledgeable and funny, he didn't rush and always had time to stop and talk about something in greater detail if people asked. The town itself is very beautiful and much more picturesque in my opinion than Sofia. Well worth the price.

Recommend this trip from Sofia for someone who is short of time when in Bulgaria and/or would be nervous of getting public transport.
The customer service was excellent, we decided to do this tour quite late the night before and we were fitted into the group and got all the information. Our guide, Lubo, was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of general info about Bulgaria on the 2 hr bus journey there and then talked about the city when we were walking around Plovdiv.
If it is wet, the streets of Plovdiv old town would be very slippery. It's an extra 4LEV to go into the roman theatre - and you must do that as the views are excellent. After the old Town, you have 1.5-2 hrs free time to get lunch or return to the old town or just wander about. This was plenty of time to eat and see the newer party of the city.
I'm sure you could get a public bus to Plovdiv easily. I'm sure you could spend more time there and explore without a guide. But if you lack time or want to be in a group, I'd highly recommend this tour.

Just completed the Plovdiv tour. Despite my wife being told she would have difficulties with the cobbled streets she chose to go. When she had to withdraw the Transveturia team were a real help going out of their c way to get us to an area where we could explore on our own. Real professionalism.

Une journée riche en émotions. Tout commence par récupérer la navette, 20 minutes de marche.
Trajet entre Sofia et Plovdiv, 2 heures de route, que dis-je chemin de traverse vu l'état de la route.
Après ce voyage mouvementé, place à la visite de la ville historique qui est splendide.
Cela valait le coup. Un mélange de style immobilier donne à cette ville un côté rafraîchissant fait de couleurs vives, chaleureuses.
On pourrait y passait des jours à flâner tellement sont les endroits a découvrir.

interesting town, old buildings and churches - worth a guided tour as would miss reasons for things being the way there are (e.g. why old houses coloured differently).

I loved the trip to Plovdiv. Great small city with tons of history and culture.
