We had a three hour bike tour in Sofia where our guide Ivo showed around us the main archeological and historic attractions of the city. He also took us to few narrow streets where local restaurants and bars are located. We had a great time and it was fun.

I did the free hiking tour to the Vitosha mountain. It was my first hike and I did not know what to expect. I had asked around in groups about Sofia and everyone said it was very easy but I think they assumed I would be going with the chairlift, which is not the case. :D We went by taxi to the Boyana church and hiked from there through the woods. It was end of October and the ground was full of leaves, the place was very beautiful. It was cold but because the hike is so exhausting we were feeling very warm. There are some rocks and tree branches in the way. I was very scared of getting hurt but the guide was very nice and helped me to overcome these obstacles. When reaching the waterfall there is a short break of 15 min (recommended to take food with you to recharge). Then we went down and it can be very slippery sometimes. The other people in the group seemed to be very experienced and who did lots of sports so they had no problems but for me as not sports person it was already too much. :D I prefer going slowly and taking photos. In the end we went back by taxi to the national theater. Everyone survived. Thanks to the guide Stefan for helpful recommendations! I will leave here some photos I took.

Awesome hike and tour. Especially in fall, with the forest (a maple forest) having wonderful colors (ranging from red to green with golden leaves). The guide was very friendly and we had interesting conversations during the walk. The view is also amazing, and during this three hours walk you get to see many different types of landscapes.
Without a guide, we would not have done the whole trek, which consisted in both going to the Bojana Fall and lake, and the church, and the combination of the three activities in one day made it really worth it.
Also very friendly staff, which was very responsive to recover a camera I had forgotten in the cab going back from the hike.

Great hike, with the sweetest guide (kaloyan) and lovely hiking partners that joined. The tour is free, although you need to share cab costs to the start of the hike (5€ for the ride, so very cheap). The hike is really cool, quite a steep climb to the waterfall, with beautiful scenery. Then you walk on to a viewpoint where you can see Sofia beneath you; really awesome! And then back down the mountain via a different route with again great forest sceneries. Really a must do when you visit Sofia and you enjoy nature!

Next time better to ask before what people expect from the tour as this was a private tour. We missed some coffee stops. For the rest ok.

The Vitosha mountain hike was super nice. Our guide Valentin showed up promptly at 11 am in front of the Ivan Vizov theater.
We were just 3 hikers and our guide. The taxi ride out to the start of the hike was about 20 min or less and the cost was shared amongst the hikers. The hike is probably a medium grade hike and the suggestion would be to bring hiking sticks if possible . The terrain in some parts is rather steep and as we had a big of drizzle along the way, loose rocks on the trail were a bit slippery. Two hikers were lucky enough to find sticks along the way and this helped immensely. We hiked to a view point, waterfall and a lake in a mostly wooded area. It a real beautiful trail. Valentin was attentive, provided information about the area and is a very personable and interesting guy. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in getting out of the city and who enjoys hiking.

This is Tara (15, so you'll know I'm honest).
I spent half of the morning hiking on *forgot name of mountain*. I love hiking so for me it was awesome. The tour guide was a very nice person, Kalo Jan. He's the kinda guy who picks up the trash of the trails, he did that by the way. It was a beautiful view, we cooled off our feet at the waterfall, which was fricking cold. DO NOT EXPECT TO SWIM. I liked everything about it, like the drinks Kalo Jan treated us on at the end, but fair warning for the parents:
Don't bring young children or reluctant teens with you. The hike is hard, I'm not kidding.
Like, needing to rest for the rest of the day, hard. Despite that I loved the experience! Best day of my vacation.

Our guide Peter was excellent, he knew the trails and told stories about the area. Our group had only 2 so we really got to chat along the way. I highly recommend this tour group.

Took both the bike tour and the hike to Boyana Waterfall, Both were great.
Our bike guide was very informative and we saw all of the main attractions.
Our hike to the waterfall was even better. We took taxis from the meeting point to near the trail. Our guide asked if we wanted to take the extreme trail to the waterfall. I thought that he was kidding. Everyone wanted to do it so we did. It was strenuous but not in any way dangerous. It had rained for several days before. The trail went up alongside a creek/river flowing from the waterfall. It was very swift moving with several small rapids. We refilled our water bottles with clean spring water. Our guide told us he had never seen the waterfall with such a large water volume. We took a different trail down which was less difficult. After the hike we could tour the Boyana Church.
This is a 5 plus hour hike not a short walk in the woods. Bring water bottles and a snack.
There is a shop near the trail that sells a limited selection of food and drinks.
I highly recommend the hike.

Totaly worth it...
My girlfriend and I went on an amazing hiking tour thrue the witoscha mountain with a great guide Kaloyan, who managed to explain many things and with whom we had great conversations, despite his little Knowledge of the English language. He even invited us and the other tourists to a drink at a bar afterwards.
I definitly recommend green Tours, which are guided by volunteers.
