Amazing tour with a great guide. The tour gives you a good overview of the city and helps with experiencing all Zagreb has to offer. I would highly recommend this tour.

This tour was one of the highlights of our vacation. Karmela was very knowledgeable not only about food, but also about Croatian history. The day we took our tour we started off with a cup of artisan coffee and then proceeded to Upper Town to explore the city in the morning since it was going to be very hot. Then in the afternoon we went to all of the remaining food stops. It was amazing to be able to try all the various traditional Croatian foods. We definitely went back to some of the locations before leaving Zagreb.

What a great introduction to Croatian cuisine and what Zagreb has to offer. The tour was well paced with walking and discussion of the history of Zagreb and Croatia between stops. Very enjoyable. The food and wine selections were first rate. Leave room for the Strukli!

Great tour with a great guide. Its not "just" a simple food tour it gives you the whole Zagrabe experience as well. Highly recommended.

Karmela’s tour was above and beyond just a typical food tour. She constructed the tour as if it was a menu with each stop being a new course (i.e. bakery to taste bread, meat and cheese in the market, coffee break, strukli..etc). In between each food stop there is ample time and walking to enjoy seeing major sights and historical areas of Zagreb. The breaks in between each stop also give you enough time to digest the previous food so you're hungry by the next stop!
If you only have 1 day in Zagreb this is the perfect way to spend a full day tasting local cuisine and learning about the history of the city. We opted for the bonus location meeting in the bakery which started at 8 am and all in the tour lasted about 6 hours. We tasted many of the famous continental Croatian foods and wines and had great conversations with many of the local vendors we met along the way. A highlight for us was the strukli and the wine visit to Bornstein. All around it was a great day and I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in learning about the culture of Croatia and Zagreb through food.

What a great way to see Zagreb! We did not go hungry.We learned so very much. And we saw all the lovely sights that tourists come to see. We began our tour early to see the bakery which was so interesting! Never had we seen anything like it. Glad we did that. The streets were quiet and calm at that time in the morning. Quite a contrast to the rest of the day. And then we proceeded to tick off all the tasty treats and experiences Karmela has planned. Every stop did not disappoint it only got better! We were four friends traveling on for an additional 2 weeks in Croatia. We could not stop talking about our experience with Karmela in Zagreb. We will never forget the experience. Karmela is a wonderful resource for those that would like to connect and get to know more about the wonderful culture waiting here in Zagreb!

This was an amazing food tour. You really do get a taste of Zagreb- the food, the culture, the history. We did the early morning tour with Sandra as Karmela was unavailable. It ended being a tour with just my husband and I. We really hit it off with Sandra who is as passionate about food and wine as we are. We started off with a nice morning walk to a traditional bakery where they bake their bread as they have for many many years. I think since 1920's but I don't remember the exact date. I believe Sandra said that they had special permission to continue bake in the old oven. It was pretty cool to see how it worked.
We loved walking around the dolac (farmers market). Tasting some of the goodies along the way. We tried smoked meats, cheeses, fruits.
Our favorite stop was the wine bar where we learned about Croatia's wine regions and types of wines each area produces. We tasted some yummy wines along with some charcuterie. The wine bar was really cute and cozy. Doris is a doll. She's so sweet and helpful. We ended buying a bottle of the white that we tasted. Croatian wines are really amazing but they are still very small production-wise so hard to find in the states. I hope they continue grow so they can share the wine over here. :)
My husband really enjoyed the strukli. Not surprised he loves cheese. It was so nice to sit in the patio and enjoy a few decadent bites.
I would really recommend this tour. There is nothing better than walking around learning about the history, the people and tasting yummy bites along the way. The tour takes about 6 hours but can take longer so don't schedule anything afterwards. We did that and had to rush a bit at the end but it was worth it. If we returned to Zagreb (which I hope we do) we would definitely check out another of their tours.

It was our second day in Croatia and we were eager to experience the local flavors. Lucky for us, Karmela was our guide. Meant to be a small group tour, we were the only people scheduled that day, and had the best time. We visited the markets, sampled the great offerings and met the vendors. One of the highlights was meeting Doris at the wine shop who treated us to an array of wine and spirit specialties and some local charcuterie and fresh olive oil while explaining the Croatian wine industry. After touring the markets: Vegetable, fish, meat, cheese, and sampling strukli in a beautiful garden, we were rather full. Not particularly hungry when lunch rolled around, and we picked at our traditional meal which was our least favorite stop of the day. Maybe for us a little too traditional, with an old and moody waiter and dated cuisine. Onward to a lovely pastry and gelato shop, a stroll through the flower market and rounded out the day with a splendid cup of coffee in the afternoon. After a short rest, we found ourselves out on the town for dinner at Brokenships Bistro, which Karmela suggested for modern Croatian cuisine. We loved it! A day with Karmela is a great day in Zagreb!

We had a nice day walking, eating and learning about Zagreb along with a culinary history of Croatia. Karmela was a lovely host and I definitely recommend this tour. We covered a lot of ground which was good because we had a lot of food to work for :)

Our guide Karmela led our group of three on an excellent sightseeing and food journey through the centre of Zagreb. She shared some of her extensive local culinary knowledge, and we ate at several excellent establishments, including tastings of local cheese and processed meats at the farmers’ market, and Croatian regional wines.
We also visited several significant cultural and historical places, with informative commentary.
Karmela was very helpful, and responsive to our requests and special needs, including our food and beverage preferences.
We were very impressed with the quality of this tour, and of course the food! This activity has been the highlight of our stay in Zagreb.
