This was a wonderful experience and about what I expected. We did the full transit as it had been on my bucket list since I was a child. Out of the 180 people on board I am guessing 150 of them got off at the half transit dock. And that is all you really need to do if you just want a half day experience to see how the locks work, to get verbal history of the locks and canal, and to see what it feels like passing giant freighters going both ways in the canal - which turned out to be a lot wider than I thought it would be. We did the whole transit though and enjoyed a relatively empty boat for the last half, which was nice for picture taking as nobody was in your way. And it was really great to get to see the huge Gatun Lake and go through the 3rd lock near the end. The meals, drinks, and snacks provided down in the air conditioned cabin were good. Highly recommend either the half or whole transit for a very educational and fun experience.

Great trip on boat, crowded but not unpleasantly so.
Transited through Miraflorea locks Gatan Lake and then Gatan locks. Paired up with 80,000 ton tanker for going through locks.
Good commentary in both English and Spanish by very charismatic and knowledgable guide.

Fraudulent activities by this company. Do not trust them for a second. They advertise, sell and charge full price for a full transit tour with no intention of providing anything but a partial transit. They will send an email to you the night before stating that they can't do the full transit and they promise to send a refund of &74.90 which you will never receive. Do not trust this company.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your provider for your Canal tour.
However, after a careful review with our team, we can guarantee that your Canal tour was booked through a different provider, given that your name is not in our records and we have not canceled any departures this year. You booked your Canal tour through the provider Panama Canal Tours, not Panama Marine Adventures.
Respectfully, we ask you to eliminate this review, as it undermines the reputation we have built for over 20 years of operating with quality products and excellent customer service.

Panama Canal, Fuerte Amador tour
On December 28, 2022 the Emerald Princess arrived to Panama Canal. We were asked to be at the meeting point at 6:30am. Main buffet breakfast area was scheduled to be opened at 6 am, so we went for the abbreviated breakfast on the deck five to the International Cafe. It is a very small 24 hr counter service area with just one person trying to serve a long line growing with every minute in order to be on time for the 6:30 am tour meeting time.
Passengers were not informed that the main breakfast area was already opened earlier than 6 am. So, we made in time for the shore excursion just to wait for another 43 minutes before entering the tenders for about twenty-five minutes ride to the shore. It took about 1.5 hours driving in air conditioning bus to reach to canal observation Center. Bus moved swiftly on a very modern two lane each way highway with speed limit of 110 km/hr.
We spent about 1.5 hr. at the new locks observation Center,
watched 10-minute short video and observed one container ship passing from Atlantic to Pacific side of the canal.
On the way back to the ship our guide provided a bottle of water to each passenger.
To summarize: about 3.5 hrs. total driving time for about 1.5 hr. of learning and watching canal operations.
Some passengers felt that it was too much driving for about 1.5 hours of sightseeing, but it was right for us and our two teenagers.
Next day during cruise passing the Atlantic set of locks we observed same but this time from the board of the cruise ship.
Good Travels.

Deze dag was perfect geregeld. Er waren verschillende kleuren polsbandjes uitgedeeld zodat men in groepen kon ontbijten of lunchen. De gids was erg goed. Hij becommentarieerde de hele tocht. Er was plek genoeg voor iedereen om de sluizen en alles te bekijken. Deze dag was een ervaring om nooit te vergeten.

My wife and I took the Panama Marine Adventures tour on January 21, 2023 - having booked it through Trip Advisor. We were picked up at the Bristol Panama Hotel at 6;00 and we were brought aboard the boat around 6:30 am. We started to move towards the canal around 7 am. The boat is pretty crowded until Gamboa, when many people get off. But even if you don't have an ideal place for shooting photos because of the crowd, it usually works out okay. After Gamboa, there is much more room and I highly recommend staying on the boat through the Gatun Locks, where you get an excellent view of how they work. We docked on the Pacific side around 5:30-6:00 pm and had a long bus ride back to the very crowded Panama City pier. There was some confusion for people looking for the correct van back to their hotel, but we bumped into our driver without a problem (the same one who took us in the morning). We got back to the hotel around 8 pm, so it was a long day. The food was buffet style and was more than adaquate, with both breakfast and lunch served between 8 am and 12 am (before the Gamboa drop off). Then there was an afternoon snack. The rest rooms were on the bottom deck and were sufficient. It was a trip I would recommend.

Amazing day Long Trip. Panama Marine Adventures was Fantastic. You need to know the day starts with a 04:30 hotel pick up and a 18:15 return. The sites and educational facts on the tour were over the top.Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and refreshments were outstanding. A true bucket list experience.

This is a tour that I think everyone who goes to Panama should go on. Just no that it's a long day and the process is very slow. There is also plenty of down time. You need to have a full day and just enjoy the day.

I did the full transit through the Panama Canal with this company that actually runs the trip (as opposed to being a reseller of which there are many).
I highly recommend this trip and doing the FULL canal trip.
Given that this trip only runs once a month the medium sized boat was crowded. That was the only slight negative on the entire trip - for the first part of the trip you couldn't always get unobstructed views.
The guide was excellent - fully fluent in English - and gave a lot of very interesting background. I will say though it helps a lot if you have already read a book about the canal such as "Path Between the Seas" and visited the excellent Canal Museum in the Casco Viejo. The lunch was also good but do yourself a favor and bring some snacks as it is a long day.
Finally, I recommend the full cruise as opposed to the half day cruise. Yes it is a very long day - you will not get back until night time. But there are two reasons you want the full cruise. First, the Gatun locks on the Atlantic side are the biggest flight of locks and it is very impressive to go down through them to the Atlantic. Second, most people get off the ship at the half way point of the cruise so it gets MUCH less crowded. You have more chances to ask the guide questions and you have MUCH better views for the second half of the cruise. Finally, you do get bragging rights that you were in the Pacific and Atlantic on the same day and you do get to see how Caribbean water differs from the Pacific waters.
