This was a great experience. I cycled with Pepian who was a better biker than me by miles. But we went at a great pace changed the route to suit. The kit was top drawer and the whole thing was just great. Get your self booked

Nuestro guía Rudy fue excelente, conoce muy bien la ruta y los lugares que visitamos. Siempre estuvo pendiente de nosotros y nos dio consejos muy útiles. Espero poder regresar.

We hebben deze activiteit gedaan als gezin met 5 ( leeftijd kinderen: 16, 22 en 24 jaar) en hebben een heel leuke namiddag gehad! Heel mooie tour met schitterend zicht op de omgeving! De tocht was soms een beetje pittig maar onze sympathieke gids hield daar rekening mee, paste zich aan en gaf goede tips en instructies. Hij nam onderweg ook foto's die hij via WhatsApp achteraf doorstuurde 🙂👍

Maravillosa subida al Volcan Acatenango!!! Solo 3,975 metros! El guia fue excelente, Josh ARMAS CASTELLANOS se ocupo de hacer una ascension perfecta y segura.
Vistas Increibles! Excelente la comida y su conocimiento del terreno.
Espero volver a hacer otra actividad con el mismo guia!

This was fantastic! The business was well organized and ready for us so we checked in and met our AWESOME guide Rudy. He and another got us set up on excellent mountain bikes that worked well during the day.
As a family we’ve done bike tours in Florence, Athens and Paris. This was the BEST. In 4.5 hours we REALLY got a feel for the towns of this valley and how and why Antigua developed. We can’t say enough about Rudy as a guide. He knew his information and was comfortable with the bike route. He also spoke with a charm and enthusiasm that was infectious.
For the tour you are riding on the streets of these villages that are very normal for Guatemala, but are not on the beaten path for tourists to Antigua.
The ride was described at moderate intensity which was accurate: mostly it was easy with a couple of those STEEP Guatemalan climbs (we are very fit and had to walk some.) The last few kilometers are along a busy road.
We stopped at a small chocolate factory and went on their tour, bought product. We stopped at the Valhalla macadamia nut farm , did their quick tour and bought their products. Both were legit small businesses in the area an a step above other similar tours. Throughout the ride we were surrounded by coffee fincas.
This was a wonderful way to spent a morning/afternoon in Antigua. Thank you Rudy and team for giving us this experience.

We visted the office downtown lastminute to book the coffee tour. Unlucky enough this tour was not going the date we planned. The lady adviced us an other tour and was not pushing at all. They where very friendly and asked our preferences. To be honoust the tour (MTB Valley tour) they offered the next day was great, better then we expected. The guide was so friendly and told and explained a lot with much enthousiasm. Worth the money!

I really enjoyed the mountain bike tour. I am an avid recreational road cyclist and the opportunity to ride while on vacation was amazing. The bike that was provided was of a good quality and my tour guide took me to several spots including an artisnal chocolate factory and a macadamia nut factory wjere I was treated to a macadamia nut facial.
The tour took is to some if thr surrounding towns around Antigua and we switched from cobblestone roads to smooth tarmac back and forth and there was some decent hill climbing. It was 24km in total but I did get winded due to the elevation. A really good workout. My tourguide was also my personal photographer and he took great photos throughout. As I was the only person on the tour, it was essentially customized and they provided a helmet and a water bottle with filtered water. I would recommend this tour.

I have done this bike trip with Old Town Outfitters twice now, once with my family of 5 and once with visitors. Excellent way to see surrounding towns of Antigua and get a feel for more every day lives of Guatemalans. I loved going through the small pueblos and hearing their histories from the guide. The macadamia farm is worth a visit as well. We had one tough hill to climb while leaving San Antonio but we made it with a feeling of accomplishment!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The bikes are top quality - we rented Kona Libres, and the suspension is absolutely necessary for Antigua's cobblestone streets. Our tour guide, Francisco, fitted us to our bikes before starting out on the trip, making sure that we were comfortable (I have a flimsy IT Band that can flare up, so this was especially important).
The ride itself was amazing! Each of the small communities had its own distinct feel in contrast to the decidedly international flair that Antigua has to offer. We road through the streets of Ciudad Vieja, San Gaspar Vivar (be prepared in advance for a heck of a climb there), and the many stops along the way. The community visits are all really interesting - make sure you sample all of the kumquat products, they're delicious!
All in all, the tour was exactly what we hoped for and more - a fantastic bike ride with quality gear and professional staff, and unique experiences for this slice of Guatemala. I'm already figuring out who among my friends I can get to head back down for another -- longer -- bike trip.

I booked two Old Town Outfitters mountain bike experiences when I was in Antigua and was incredibly happy with my experience. The location is centrally located and was east to get to. The front office team was very responsive and provided clear communication. They worked with me to find the experience that would be most enjoyable for me. Both experiences provided equipment that felt newer and safe, I was actually a bit surprise when I saw how nice the bike was.
I wanted to bike in and around Antigua. Old Town set me up on the Valley Ride one day and Las Tierras Altas “Lugo” on another day. My guide, Willy, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts about Guatemala and I walked away feeling like I had experienced Guatemalan Culture while having a biking adventure.
Safety was a top priority for Willy and gave clear directions when riding and he consistently checked in to make sure everyone was feeling ok. In short, Willy is the man!
The Valley Ride provided more cultural experiences in the various towns surrounding Antigua. We were able to learn the history of the area and stopped at hand crafted wine, chocolate, and textile stores. As we rode through the streets of Guatemala you were
able to get a greater sense of day to day life. The Las Tierras Altas “Lugo” bike tour was a little farther out from Antigua, which I also loved. Here we got some amazing views of the Guatemalan landscape, volcanoes, and farmland. This was a nice change of pace from the more bustling riding experience around Antigua. All in all both tours were great and I am glad I did both because they really did offer different experiences.
I would highly recommended booking through Old Town Outfitters and hope to do one of their overnight adventures the next time I get back to Guatemala.
