We had a great day tour with Vasil. We visited three wineries in the Sakar region in the Southeast of the country. Vasil was very friendly and spoke perfect English.
The three wineries were all good, and we got to spend time with the winemakers at two of them. Maria at Bratanov Winery (where the wine was excellent) was especially nice, and let us sample some wines from the barrels and tanks after the regular tasting. Lunch and tastings at the other wineries were also good experiences. At all the wineries we got tasty local cheese and bread to go with the tastings.
After the tour Vasil sent us a long list of recommendations for the rest of our time in Bulgaria and we were able to fit several of them into our trip.
Overall, a really great day tour, and we hope Vasil’s business and the whole Bulgarian wine industry continue to grow.

Summary: amazing!
We had an absolutely great time on this tour and would very strongly recommend Vasil for such a tour! The wines were great, the conversations interesting, and the people absolutely wonderful. The region is gorgeous and Vasil comfortably drove us around to three different wineries, at each of which we were met by wonderful people and beautiful wines. We are by no means wine experts (apart from enjoying drinking wine), and we thought this tour was very accessible, but also incredibly informative -- we certainly learned a LOT from this tour! Ultimately though it was Vasil and the winery owners' kindness and warmth that made this a really wonderful experience, and we would recommend anyone to try such a tour! Especially given the more than reasonable pricing of the tour.
