My guide was very flexible so if you want to visit the gift store I am sure they will fit that in for you. My recollection was there wasn't anything special in the gift store - just stuffed pandas, which you can get anywhere in chengdu cheaper, postcards and such. If you join the volunteer program you get a teeshirt, a bunch of very nice postcards with various photos of pandas and a certificate. So I ended up not buying anything in the gift store.

You get to feed the pandas twice, once in the morning amd once in the afternoon. It's a great experience but it is really fast. Several people feed each panda. Each person is given two types of food to give the panda. One piece looks like a slice of meatloaf (but it's not that. It's made up of stuff specifically for pandas). I think the other piece was some bamboo. Each person takes a turn to feed this to the panda. So you actually spend only about 1-2 minutes feeding the panda in the morning and then again in the afternoon. While you are doing this your guide can take pictures of you with your phone. You spend about an hour watching a very informative video about the work they have done to raise pandas and introduce them back into the wild. I had a lot of time to visit the whole base and see all of the pandas and take lots of video and pictures because I didn't do the panda cage cleaning because I had hurt my knee thexweek before when I was in Thailand. I know that they do allocate time for you to do this but I don't know how much time you have if tou do the panda cage cleaning. I suspect you will have enough time to see the pandas on the vase because I did see other people from the volunteer group as I walked around the basexwith my guide. Ihighly recommend the experience.

Yes the price includes roundtrip transportation. If you want to do the volunteer program it's more expensive. Trip advisor shows you the price with and without the volunteer program but all prices include roundtrip transportatuon. The company is very flexible so I am sure they will be able to work out whatever you need. Hi, It will cost USD280 for 1 people private tour without volunteering. It will cost around USD380 for 1 people private tour with volunteering. The panda photo program is not available now. -The volunteers need to carry and split the bamboo, pick up the leftover and wash the floor, make the panda cakes and feed pandas. The cleaning is not mandatory. The volunteers can skip it based on their interests. -The volunteering spaces are limited per day. We need to make a reservation to secure the space. It’s best to secure the volunteering space 2 to 3 weeks before the tour. The panda base will collect cash RMB700/per person for panda volunteering on the day. Let me know if any other questions :)

When we went last july it was RMB 700/pp to volunteer (clean cages, feed by hand (outside of cage, not inside), lunch, make "panda cakes", tour facility and see them in areas. If you want to coveted photo sitting next to one, it was another RMB 1800/pp. Let me emphasize you only get about 30 seconds with the panda while a staffer uses your cell phone to snap MANY shots for you. May seem like a lot but you will cherish the photo and experience forever. My recommendation is really focus n the panda during the time and not look elsewhere - burn it into your memory.
