Fun from the get-go on our first day in Medellin
This tour was so fun and informative. Alberto was very friendly and he showed us around and explained everything as we were going. I would definitely recommend this trip.

Great day learning about Colombia and Pablo Escobar
We had an amazing day learning about Colombia and Pablo Escobar with Fabio. Fabio spoke great English and had a wonderful personality. He let us spend as much time as we wanted at each area and gave us lots of information. He also explained the current situations as well. It was nice having a 2 on one experience instead of a huge group.

Hablar de la guerra en Colombia exige conocimiento. Muchas veces mistifican al bandido (Pablo Escobar), glorifican las limpiezas sociales (paramilitares en la Comuna 13 dirigiendo a los militares) y enaltecen el narcotráfico. Este tour lo hicimos con un guía historiador. Y eso marcó la diferencia. Dateado, crítico. Soy periodista, llevo 25 años cubriendo el conflicto armado. Llevé a mi prima suiza a la Comuna 13 y al tour de Pablo Escobar. Fue gran decisión: visitar un país es también meterse en su dolorosa historia de mano de historiadores y no simples guías que no se preparan. Así que a seguir capacitando guías serios como los que encontré en este tour.

Not worth it. Skip the Escobar tour and do Comuna 13 with a local instead

I found this tour dry and very overpriced for what you get. The guide Daniel was nice but not very informative, we crossed paths with other tours at the various stops and found their guides to be much more enthusiastic and detailed. For example at the grave site, we overheard another guide telling a large group stories about how the Escobar family recently flew down on the anniversary of the killing, who each of them were, where they live now, etc. In comparison, our experience was more of a "here is the tomb, do you have any questions?". When we reached Comuna 13, it was packed busy, and instead of leading the way and engaging us our guide was dragging along behind us while texting on his phone.

I recommend you to skip the Escobar tour altogether (you could easily visit the grave or roof where he was killed on your own) and do a Comuna 13 tour with a local instead.
