Daniela and her mother made us feel very welcome and we had a fantastic time. We enjoyed learning more about the local area and the culinary specialties of Colombia as a whole, while visiting the local market and cooking lunch with them. The market tour was an unforgettable experience. We got to sample many different fruits and bought fresh ingredients for the lunch at home. We truly felt like family. Highly recommended and authentic experience.

A very unique and super special experience. Daniela and her mom are exceptional hosts and they show so much love and pride in not only preparing the meal but making you feel like you are part of their family. Their vibe is so on point!

My parents, fiancé, and I had a great time at our Colombia cooking night. The four of us were hosted at the chef's mothers house where she and Lina walked us through step by step of how to prepare bandeja paisa--a classic Colombian dish. Lina did a great job of explaining the steps and giving a lot of background and stories about each of the ingredients. Her English was great and she had tons of enthusiasm for everything she was telling us. Both of them had so much knowledge to share. We learned a lot and the whole evening felt we were preparing dinner at a friends house.
One thing that could be improved is that there could be more structure in having the evening be more hands on. Sometimes 3 or 4 of us were sitting to the side and watching our hosts cook for us. For example it would be great if each of the guests was asked to actually do each of the cooking steps. This would make the evening feel more like a class and less like we were being hosted for dinner.
The other thing is we felt the class was a little expensive. For the four of us we paid about $500 in total, and we chose the option with alcohol, which was about $60, but in total we only split about two beers, so it definitely wasn't the best value. This activity was definitely the most expensive thing we did in Colombia.
Aside from these things, overall we had an amazing time at the class and are glad we went. We learned a lot about Colombian food and our hosts were fantastic!

My friends and I are forever grateful for the wonderful experience we had with David. David came to our hotel and picked us up, we all went back to his (lovely) home and were greeted by a few members of his family. He had all of the ingredients for our meal already purchased, so we set to preparing all of the components of the dish we made: bandeja paisa. It was a blast! Not only did he teach us the steps to make a complicated and delicious traditional dish, but with his help the food came out perfect. We made bandeja paisa with all the trimmings and lulo juice. I would highly recommend anyone heading to Medellín that wants to have a unique, satisfying experience to reserve a class with David ASAP. If ever we're back in Colombia again, you can be sure we'll be paying him another visit! ¡Gracias, David!

Daniela was amazing! She and her mother were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. My husband and I are queer yet we felt comfortable the entire time. We learned so much about local food ingredients, Colombian Spanish and slang, and of course enjoyed a delicious meal! We had the papa rellena, ajiaco, and merengón with fruit - all of it was delicious! She also gave us lots of recommendations for stuff to do in the city and connected us to a wonderful tour guide for Communa 13. Easily one of our favorite experiences of the whole trip to Medellín ❤️

Daniela was very welcoming. It was like hanging out a friends house. We learned to make 3 authentic dishes that were pretty simple and tasty…. Cant wait to make them at home! If you’re looking to have a great experience with good conversation, this is a must do. Thank you Daniela!

Absolutely fantastic experience with Daniela and her mom. Daniela is a fantastic host, she taught us how to cook some typical Colombian dishes, but also shared with us a lot about her country. Dinner was super tasty and we had overall a wonderful evening! Absolutely recommended!

We had the absolute best time at Daniela’s apartment. She and her mom are the loveliest people. We cooked a traditional Colombian meal, step by step. They showed us the entire process and explained to us the cultural significance behind all of the food. While we cooked and spoke, Daniela offered us different traditional Colombian foods to try that she had around the house. When we sat down to eat, we had the most fantastic meal. The food was excellent and we sat with Daniela and her mom for hours, learning about their culture and talking to them about ours. It felt like we’d known them for years. It was our favorite meal of our whole trip. If you’re considering doing Traveling Spoon in Medellin, you MUST book with Daniela!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Daniella and her mother. Luckily for me, I was the only guest that night so it felt like a private cooking lesson and a decadent meal afterward. I appreciated Daniella's patience and generosity in giving out step by step information on the dishes and I cannot wait to replicate these delicious dishes back home. To top it off, I enjoyed the conversations and recommendations on things to do around Medellin.
