We loved this trip! Ms Su Su had such energy and was really funny during her tour of the local food market. We learned lots of interesting facts on local ingredients. Chef Tâm was super friendly and did a great job getting a group of ten people through five different recipes and the food was really tasty. Then the basket boats were such a unique experience. We didn't catch much of the basket boat 'dancers' and unfortunately didn't catch any crabs ourselves, but it was still so impressive travelling through Coconut Village. A real value for money half day we'd highly recommend.

The cooking was very nice, and the local market was amazing, they explained a los of traditional and rare ingredients.
On the Bad part, we had to wait like 20 minutes to the bus to pick us and the crab hunting was dissapointing, and we did it When light almost fade out.
I would recommed but it has a lot to improve.

We loved cooking with Chef Tam! He’s a very good chef and a wonderful instructor!
We can’t provide a stellar review of the overall experience, however, because of the way our reservation was managed and the poor communication about expectations vs reality. We had booked the 9 am tour. Mid-day the day before, we received a message asking if we could come instead at 1:30 pm, because it had “been arranged with some friends”. We agreed, but it messed up the rest of our plans for our last day in charming Hoi An.
We met Su Su in town, as well as another guide (Dong?) who led us through the market. We watched groups with other cooking tours be given shopping baskets to go to market. We were instead told that the chef had already purchased the food in the morning and it would be waiting for us. So we were simply led through the central market and shown the various meats, vegetables, and herbs.
We were then led to the shuttle van to take us to the cooking class on the water. When we were led in, 3 other couples were all seated together in a nice group setting, while the 2 of us were cast off to a separate table. We inquired repeatedly why this happened and what the agenda was. We were told that the class capacity is 8 people, but there were 10 of us, and 2 more would join later. So 8 would cook first and then go in the basket boats, and we would do the boats first and then do the cooking lesson.
There were 2 unset places at the big table, but chairs available, so we moved over to share conversation with the others. We were asked by Su Su to go back to our solo table instead. Another couple came shortly thereafter, and they were seated at the big table?
This is where it seems Chef Tam took over (probably due to our continued questions) and somehow reorganized things and told us we would be cooking with and eating with 3 other couples at the big table. One of the couples had been moved to another room, and would be later joined by another couple. Although we felt bad that another lovely couple was instead affected by these very confusing logistics and communication, the cooking instruction and preparation was awesome! The 8 of us all had a great time! And we were immediately sent the recipes for everything we had learned to make! (Now I think I have to get a few ingredients before we leave Vietnam!)
Maybe we’re just romantics, but I thought going crab catching would be first, so that we could incorporate into our meal, but don’t book this tour thinking that you are cooking what you buy at the market or catch in the water, because that doesn’t happen. The other downfall of being moved to a 1:30 start time instead of 9 am is that by the time we went out on the basket boats the sun was setting. This made for beautiful sunset and full moon over the water, but also a ton of mosquitoes! We asked to go back to the dock since there were no crabs (off season, another couple told us) and we were being eaten.
So, all in all, we give 5 stars to the chef, and low stars to the organization and communication by the others. We never saw Su Su or the other guide again once the chef took control and created the wonderful experience for us all. Thanks, Chef!

We met at Bebe Tailor and then walked around the market to purchase the cooking ingredients. Chef Tam was excellent at showing the group how to cook a pancake, salad, peanut sauce and noodles. Afterwards, we went on a coconut boat around the river. Would definitely recommend.

We had such a fun time with chef Tam and the other hosts. We got to go to the market, cook and do the coconut boats. Would definitely recommend !

We had a lot of fun during the cooking class with chef Tam, he was great! We met with a guide and then walked through the market to gather some food for the class. After we rode in a van where Chef Tam met us to reach the class.

There are many clients call me and complain about this . Because all food is different from our menu . I send you this email to you and I wonder if you can use different name “ Hoi an Eco cooking class “ to sell tour for clients . It is unfair .
