Hit was a fantastic guide. He was knowledgeable of the area and history and designed a perfect day around our requests and added some special sites that we enjoyed. A truly wonderful day in Nikko.

We enjoyed the tour very much, however, there were some things that could have been handled better that would have made this a better tour.
Our tour guide, Yoshii, was personable and knowledgeable, however, he seemed to be rushing us throughout the entire tour. I didn't feel like I could stop and enjoy our surroundings at any time, we always had to keep going, going, going. He also didn't ask us at any time if anyone needed to use the restroom, we always had to be the one to ask to stop. From the moment we arrived when we barely stepped off the train and had to run to the bus stop, to the end of the tour when he rushed us off the bus and barely said "bye" before he ran to catch his own train. I'm not sure but it seemed like he had a personal engagement to get to which is why we were being rushed throughout the entire day. When we were at Kegon Falls, Yoshii hurried us when we wanted to stop at the gift shop. My daughter wanted to get a souvenir coin but she felt like she couldn't because Yoshii was standing over her and rushing her...so she just left. But now she feels so sad because she didn't get a coin and she doesn't know if or when she will be able to return to Kegon Falls or Nikko.
Yoshii also could have been better prepared and communicated things to us earlier regarding the bus, snacks, etc. He emailed me at around 19:40 the night before our tour, telling me that we would not have time for lunch during our tour so we should bring snacks to eat while touring. That was not a problem, however, I would have appreciated earlier notice so that we would have time to purchase the snacks as we were planning to leave our hotel at 6:00 the next morning. So we had to leave even earlier to stop at the convenience store to buy snacks.
The biggest frustration was not being prepared for the bus. It would have been nice for Yoshii to find out and tell us approximately how much the total cost would be for the bus (say something like 4000 yen) and to have enough funds loaded onto our IC cards before we arrived. That way, getting on and off the bus would have been so much easier and quicker. Instead we were causing delay and irritation to the bus drivers and other passengers as we were struggling to find enough cash for each bus ride.
However, Yoshii did take us to the sites that we requested and was knowledgeable
about each site, which I appreciated.

Nikko is a Jewel of a town. We finally experienced the Japanese countryside, away from the busy big cities. The waterfalls were wonderful to see on a sunny day, the Rinnoji Temple was extremely interesting to visit. The streets and eateries cozy and cute .
We had a fantastic private guide, her name is Yoko Nakata. She really made a difference to our visit, as she informed us of all the stories and legends of the area, so we just had to listen effortlessly and we learnt a lot. She also recommended places to visit (and was spot-on with the choices) and a lovely little restaurant for lunch, which we really enjoyed.
Yoko really went above and beyond, she gave us a lot of extremely interesting information to help us understand Japanese life and traditions. We would highly recommend Yoko to anyone wanting to visit Nikko!!!

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of having Ichi as our guide during our honeymoon in Nikko, Japan, and the experience was unforgettable.
From the moment we booked, Ichi was incredibly thoughtful and attentive, customizing the itinerary perfectly to suit our preferences. His communication was excellent, and he made sure everything went smoothly throughout the trip.
Ichi’s local knowledge was both insightful and fascinating, and it was such a joy to explore Nikko with someone who truly understands and loves the area. We spent the day with Mrs Emiko Murayama, who was very knowledgable and friendly - and listened carefully to what we wanted from the day. She helped us create lasting memories of beautiful Nikko and we would highly recommend Emiko as a guide.

Our visit to the Nikko World Heritage Site was an unforgettable experience thanks to our guide. For more than 6 hours he patiently guided us through the impressive sites and introduced us to the history and culture of this place in a fascinating way. His expertise and extensive knowledge really enriched our day. We can highly recommend him!

We could not even enjoy the sights. We had to basically speed run everything. We were rushed even when we wanted to buy omiyage or just take pictures. I couldn’t even buy omiyage that I wanted to buy because I was rushed. We weren’t even told that we needed a lot of money in our ic cards to the point that we were had to hold up the line to pull out cash. Yoshi would also constantly rush us and walk so far ahead of us that we really couldn’t enjoy Nikko. Hell, I could barely even take time to go to the bathroom. At the very end, he was rushing us out of the bus and just ran off to the station by himself without really saying anything. I regret wasting money on this.

We had a great day with Yoshii at Nikko National Park where he made an extremely suitable itinerary for us. We hiked to three different waterfalls and learned about Nikko's importance for Japan. Yoshii is a very capable guide and made the trip current as he pointed out where the G7 conference was held last year, which we found to be an odd venue. He is very smart and was responsive to emails before the trip. He also provided perfect directions using our JR pass from Tokyo and was considerate to ensure for our trip home we got to the correct station on time. It was a great day navigated by Yoshii.

We took the full-day Nikko tour with Ichi in early September 2024. Ichi, a retired automotive executive, thoughtfully curated an itinerary that perfectly showcased Nikko's beauty, history, and culture. The tour is highly customizable, allowing you to spend the morning exploring the shrines and the afternoon visiting the waterfalls. The lunch spots are fantastic, and trying the dango at the end was a highlight. We had a truly memorable experience and can’t speak highly enough of Ichi.

Our tour with Yuki was really good she could not have done anything else to make the day memorable ,she took us to so many interesting places above and beyond what is normally done .
