Very disappointed. Could be better

Very disappointing visit. Whilst there is no guarantee of seeing the gorgeous orangutans we sit through a 20 minute briefing on the do’s and dont’s and then it falls flat because no orangutan in site. Having been to Sepilok we felt this was a waste of time and money. All there was, was a small presentation video room and a few photos - not even a shop to buy stuff, though there was a stall seller in car park. They should make this a more interesting centre if you are unable to see an orangutan. Felt so flat and will not go again.

Impresionante acercamiento a los orangutanes

Experiencia inolvidable. Aunque no era la mejor época para ver los orangutanes, tuvimos mucha suerte y vimos dos, uno de ellos el macho dominante, que era de impresión.
Fantástica opción de regresar por la tarde con el mismo tique!!
Se respeta a los animales y se intenta que se sientan bien y la gente no los agobie.
Inolvidable oportunidad de acercarte a los orangutanes.

Querido señor, señora , Buen día Estamos muy contentos de que hayas disfrutado del viaje. Aunque todavía no es temporada de frutas, a veces prefieren buscar comida en la reserva forestal en lugar del buffet de verduras y frutas. Cuando cae la noche todo orangután cree que es Elvis Presley, esta podría ser otra razón. Gracias por tu visita. En su próxima visita a Borneo, vuele a la ciudad de Sandakan, al santuario de orangutanes de Sepilok.

Das war das Ziel der weiten Reise, Orang Utans in freier Wildbahn.

Wir waren Ende Juli in diesem Park und haben 2 Orang Utans gesehen, sogar ganz nah. Ja, es ist Glück wenn man welche sieht, denn bei uns waren sie z.B. auch nicht an der Futterstation. Das ist es aber was für mich den Park ausmacht. Es sind und sollen wilde Tiere bleiben und nicht auf Kommando kommen. Es ist kein Massentourismus, Zugang maximal bis 10.30 Uhr, so dass dann die Tiere wieder ungestört sind. Hinterlasst doch bitte eine Spende. Es dient einem wirklich guten Zweck.

Thank you Edwin and your team for a wonderful morning trip to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre..Even though it was a rainy day we loved that Anwar appeared for us.. What an amazing experience.. will highly recommend you to all of our family and friends back in Australia. 😊

We were very lucky and saw 2 orangs-outans despite heavy rain. Very nice guide who shared some eatingspots with us in Kuching. Thanks again Edwin!

Dear Sir / Madam The weather has been unpredictable these days. It was Heat Wave the previous week and suddenly this week raining. Inspite of the rain , there were still some Orangutans to observe. Thank you for making the journey and visiting them. It is through your visits the center is able to sustain and maintain the orangutans. They are easily dependent on humans. Hence the Rangers go to work and bring them out of their old habits, some are rescued Orangutans , captive and even relocated cases. The center is dedicated to protecting them and returning them back to the wild. If in any change there are no Orangutans to observe t the center , this is a good sign as the Orangutans are independent and have establish a territory to call home. Once again from all of us at Magunatip Holidays saying Thank You for your visit. V/R , Edwin

Great opportunity to see orangutans

The park if home to many rehabilitated orangutans who now call this place home. Given it's been established for so long they are now breeding and having their own offspring. We were super lucky to see the orangutans - 6 in total. One solo near one of the feeding platforms, then a group of 4 which included a mother with a tiny baby as well is 2 older siblings who were all hanging out together and then finally a large male who was really close to the road. The ranger fed him various fruits to keep him occupied while we all snapped shots and then he was finally off.
This was a highlight for us on our trip to Borneo - be aware though that there is a degree of commercialism here with many taking the chance to visit

Dear Sir , We are glad you enjoyed the tour. The center was establish in the early 1980's , with emphasize to rehabilitating Orangutans returning them back to the wilderness. A very long process and lots of patience and the Orangutans are very dependable and pampered with humans. Successfully many have graduated and stated having their own off springs. they still do return for a free fruit buffet during feeding time. We look forward to serve you again on your next booking with us. please visit Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary located in Sandakan , Sabah. V/R, Edwin

Beautiful and humbling experience for seeing the oerang oetans

Stunning experience! We saw 5 oerang oetans including a young babe (born in Jan-22) at the morning feeding. You can get really close and see them grab/eat fruit laid out by the staff. Staff btw are very friendly and really teach you about the the oerang oetans. Would definitely recommend: 10/10.

Dear Sir We are so happy you have enjoyed this short tour we have compiled on Semenggoh. The center goes way back when it was a center for rehabilitation for Orang Utans. Many have graduate and return to the wild but still return to the center for the fruit buffet. Please share your experience with others , until we serve you again on your next visit. Orangatan in the wild

This was part of an organised trip. If you can only park near the gate it is a 1.5km walk. The rangers call the orangatan after 9 so you can see them feeding at 10. We where very lucky to see one, however it is pot luck. Also if they spot one you need to move to the place quickly. It is not for the infirm or probables with walking. I would also recommend mosquito replant and long trousers with trainers. They are leeches and ticks in certain areas. It is worth the trip.

We are glad you have enjoyed the guided walk towards feeding platform. Must have been after the rain as we don't encounter leeches on the trail. So sorry you were able to only witness 1 orangutans , although this indicates a successful rehabilitation program , they are able to care for them selves in the forest. Due to visitors patronage the center has achieved their objective. Please visit us again or try Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sandakan. Stay safe & healthy Sincerely, Edwin

Not lucky to see orangutang

One can take grab from the city. After buying ticket, shuttle will take you to the feeding area. If you go in fruit season then orangutang go deep in jungle to feed them self, they do not come to feeding station. Ranger do their best to call them to feeding station. From shuttle drop off point take a little difficult path to viewing platform, to watch orangutang.

Truly not in the days plans as we strive to provide clients with the best experience at Semenggoh Orangutan Center. The center has since see many Orangutans graduates , thanks to a successful programme that started since the 1980's. If there are fruits deep in the forest , sometimes they don' come to the feeding platform. A indication the Orangutans have adapted well into their natural habitat. We wish to see you again on your next visit.
