We stopped in Salalah for a day on a recent cruise of the Middle East. After reading their reviews here as well as on their website, we decided to book a 1/2 day tour with Oman Day tours...best decision we made all trip!
Because the driver couldn't enter the port, there was another gentleman waiting at the pier with our name on a sign who immediately took us to our Guide/Drive Ali. Ali was fantastic and took us throughout the area, all along the coast, pointing out everything of importance and answering all of our questions. We saw camel herds, frankincense trees, went to a local market, saw the grand mosque and visited Job's tomb...all within a 1/2 day. It was beyond excellent.
If you're going to Salalah, pass on the ship's shore excursions and hook up with Oman Day Tours instead. They're cheaper, they're better and you'll get to see exactly what you want to see!
