Fantastic desert dunes ride, Abo Salim super driver and guide. Sleeping in desert nice experience. We visited before a camel camp , so cute baby camels . Waiting sunset at the top of the dunes was magic. We had a good meal at Desert Rose Camp and a quiet sleep in a tent . Nice experience, fire at the camp, moon and stars, silence, all was perfect. Thank to our super Guide Abo Salim

I highly recommend a night stay in the Salalah desert to anyone visiting Oman. It's a unique and authentic experience that allows you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the desert. The camp I stayed at provided excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and delicious food, making it a truly memorable experience

We had a fascinating trip to the desert and it will go down as one of our best holiday memories ever. Our guide was polite, kind and very interesting really bringing the whole experience to life.
We were fascinated to visit the camels on the way, interact with the animals at close quarters and drink camel milk for the first time in our lives.
The desert was beyond brilliant and we enjoyed the thrill of the dune bashing. But the most special moment was when my husband and I were encouraged to climb to a high sand peak and watch the breathtaking beauty of the sunset hand in hand and alone. There was also a sand storm which made the experience very dramatic indeed.
We enjoyed a delicious home cooked supper and breakfast back at the camp and the our guide recounted stories of Omani life 30 years ago as we sat in a Bedouin tent in front of an open fire under the stars. Fantastic all round. We did our tour on Sunday when there was only a handful of other cars in the desert, which made it even more special.

Consigliato.

After a few days of rest we had itchy feet and really wanted to get out of the resort and see the real Oman. How lucky we were to find Beautiful Salalah tours and specifically the amazing Abu-Salim.
From start to end it was a whirlwind of Omani places, culture and conversation that was so packed with special moments and experiences it felt like a dream.
We rode to the desert in his new comfortable 4x4 filled with water and snacks for us. We stopped on the way to taste camel sausage, see the frankincense trees, to visit his favourite Omani coffee and date shop and to see the lost city. All the way we asked Abu-Salim all of our questions and curiosity’s about Oman, it’s people, it’s history and culture.
Although we were like children who had too much candy, Abu-Salim patiently and honestly answered all our questions. Having done tours for 5 years, you can see he is passionate about sharing his country and culture with others and it really shows.
Arriving at the desert, Abu-Salim wanted us to have the best experiences. He artfully navigated the dunes, taking us to the highest and most secluded location, away from the other tourists. Provided with our own Omani headdresses he brought along, we marched to the peak of the dunes. He helped us get some amazing pictures we’ll treasure and left us to watch the sunset alone.
As a guide, he knows exactly when to step in and be with you, and when to give you space and privacy to enjoy the moment together. This is an art that not many guides master in our experience but he clearly has.
We left after sunset, arriving at camp for a delicious home cooked dinner and settled down for the night under the stars.
Morning arrived and we woke up to watch the sun rise over the dunes, the blue sky turning a brilliant orange. Breakfast was served and we were on our way, darting out of the desert and playing our favourite music.
We journeyed East, stopping to see camels, for more local coffee and a quick shopping stop where we took some local Omani scarves.
For lunch we took in the locals hotspot for some rice and fish. If you want to experience the real Omani places, away from the standard tours then he is more than happy to show you the real tastes and life of Oman.
Belly’s full, we headed East, stopping at beautiful beaches to spot turtles and sharks and onwards to Wadi Darbat.
We swam in the beautiful waterfall, totally alone which was an incredible moment. Then down into the scenery of the park which is biblical in its beauty.
After that we headed to the highest point in Oman, winding down from there to see the Baobab trees and gravity point.
We arrived back at our hotel on such a high. It really felt like we had been on a Dorothy in Oz experience because every moment we were on the move, seeing new sights and smells, learning more and touching the real Oman.
Abu-Salim is a proud, friendly and open Omani, passionate about its people, it’s culture and it’s history. He will do whatever he can to make your experience stand out from the rest, it’s a matter of pride for him that his guests get a truly authentic Omani experience, seeing and doing everything it has to offer but only in the most authentic way.
If like us you want to really visit Oman, there is only one man you need to call, Abu-Salim.
10/10 recommend.

Cannot recommend this trip highly enough, an incredible experience. Picked up in Salalah at my hotel at 1pm by my exceptional guide Mohammed, we drove firstly to see the frankincense trees. Mohammed had superb knowledge and was happy to give advice for what I should buy as a gift to take home.
Before entering the empty quarter Mohammed treated me to coffee from what was like a drive thru’ coffee shop, we stopped on the way to view Camels with again, great insight from Mohammed.
Included was a stop off to visit the lost city of Ubar, discovered in the 90’s by a team headed up by Ranulph Fiennes using local knowledge and NASA satellite imagery. It was amazing to see something so old and learn so much about the history of the lost city.
The experience in the Empty Quarter was incredible, Mohammed showed his skills with the ‘dune bashing’ which was enormous fun before we setup on top of the dune to witness the sunset, but only after some sand sledging down the dunes which again was great fun.
Sitting watching the sunset was a peaceful and beautiful experience. We then moved to the Bedouin camp and we’re served some very nice food, tea, coffee and snacks.
I was honoured to meet the head of the camp Mabrook, who was a friend of Ranulph Fiennes after they discovered the aforementioned lost city of Ubar.
We sat round a fire while Mabrook shared knowledge and told stories, it was fantastic to listen to him and the provided shisha was welcome!
The stars are spectacular and it was so cool to sleep in the tent in such a remote location. Being there in December it got cold at night so the provided rugs were definitely required. As was the coffee when waking up for the stunning sunrise and breakfast.
We returned to Salalah around 10.30, a thoroughly incredible experience that if you can people must do. Thanks so much for organising Beautiful Salalah tours and to Mohammed for being an absolute star of a guide. Mashallah!
