Did this hike from our local hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rice fields are amazing and when you walk through them and start to think about the energy required to maintain them, then you really must appreciate and respect these farmers. The views are just spectacular. We took about 2.5 hrs to complete our walk and it was a real experience.

The place is amazing, but why i must go where is a cableway,120 yuan not included, te see the terrace or step by step 45.minuts up is reeeeally difficolt...
the guide cant speak really english, like me aniway, but sheis not really a guide, but she came to sell the ticket cableway and the bamboo cicken, not included 25 yuan(not good)
After lunch we go in the teatre for a short spetacle really nice about the women of.long hair.
(Not so bad)
So you pay only the transport, but its.not so close to guilin and finally you will spend a good dau with them.

It is probably not economic to grow rice this way any longer, but the population has bound itself to continue since no rice growing on terraces no tourists = no income. It is a fantastic view once you have made your way to the viewpoints, but you need good legs. We had expected that our driver would just take us to a high point from where we could enjoy the view, but no. After two hours drive from Guilin he dropped us of at a terminal, from where we continued with busses another hour. From where we were dropped of we had to continue up a combination of a steep paths and more than a 1000 steps to reach the viewpoints. Half way up we stopped for lunch which was rich and had some interesting local specialities like smoked meat and rice prepared in bamboo.

I guess everywhere I go will be tourist infested. I do wish this one could have held on to its authenticity a little more rather than having so many little shopping spots with people trying to sell you their "unique" "handmade" items (which i'm not sure I believe were).
But it's also very nice to learn how rice is actually done -- way up here in the mountain. I enjoyed walking all around in the beautiful weather - up and down steps, out to other terraces, through the little enclave in the middle. I enjoyed seeing how very different peoples lives can be. I enjoyed that people still kept their clothing, their methods of doing some things.

Our guide picked us up on time despite all the traffic of National Holiday Week and explained to us early on that her English was not great (however still enough to communicate some history of the village and the region) but she was very friendly and helpful. We were told we would go to another village rather than Ping'an because of the crowds which we much preferred because it meant we could explore this one (however we did not see a long hair show).

Our guide, Susan, was very accommodating and well informed. It was a hot day and we opted to take the cable car rather than walk the paved path /steps to the top viewing station. The meal in the restaurant was delicious as well. Beautiful countryside and rice terraces. A very unique experience.

Per arrivare alle terrazze di riso si impiega circa 1 ora dalla città di Guilin
Si arriva in cima alle terrazze in cabinovia, in circa 15 minuti, dove dal punto più è possibile ammirare e apprezzare nella sua totalità lo spettacolo.
Sempre in cima sono presenti alcuni negozi all'interno dei quali è possibile acquistare souvenir.
Una volta scesi a valle, si può pranzare in uno dei ristoranti gestiti dalla gente del posto. Si mangia molto bene (per lo meno nel nostro caso) e si spende il giusto.
Si arriva in cima alle terrazze in cabinovia, in circa 15 minuti, dove dal punto più è possibile ammirare e apprezzare nella sua totalità lo spettacolo.
Sempre in cima sono presenti alcuni negozi all'interno dei quali è possibile acquistare souvenir.
Una volta scesi a valle, si può pranzare in uno dei ristoranti gestiti dalla gente del posto. Si mangia molto bene (per lo meno nel nostro caso) e si spende il giusto.

La description qui est faite de l’excursion est conforme à la réalité
Un mono Space est venu nous chercher à l’hôtel à 8h30. Nous avons récupéré une autre personne qui était dans un autre hôtel à 7km et nous voilà partis pour plus de deux heures de route (avec une pause de 10 min à mi chemin)
Le premier village est celui des dames aux longs cheveux, la coiffure étant strictement codifiée. Nous y avons assisté à une danse et y avons déjeuner
Tablée de 10 personnes, plats divers à goûter, places au centre de la table, à la chinoise, c’était très bon
Puis nous avons repris la route.... comme il faisait 39 degrés nous avions demandé la montée en cable car et retour à pieds
Mais arrives sur place, on nous annonce une heure d’attente
Nous avons des difficultés à croire que la guide n’était pas au courant !!
Bref, nous avons été embarqués de façon inattendue dans la montée à pieds
Il faut être en forme, équivalent de 76 étages et pas toujours de l’ombre, loin de là même... il nous a fallu une heure .
Mais arrivé au sommet, on est vraiment content de l’avoir fait, c’est magnifique, il n’y a pas trop de monde et on peut vraiment profiter de la vue à l’aise avant de redescendre !
Nous avions droit à deux heures, nous sommes revenus au point de départ après 2h15
De là retour vers guilin, un peu avant 19h
Longue journée donc mais riche en émotions !

This day tour involves lots of driving, but is worth it to see the beautiful landscape of the terrace fields/hills. I recommend riding the cablecar up the hill and walking back down. There is a clear path the entire way and takes 30-45 minutes which allows for a much closer look at the farming and some awesome photo opps along the way. Our tour also stopped at the long hair show which was interesting but also clearly a tourist trap, a group lunch which was only OK, and a tea farm. Our tour guide was also only OK, but luckily the scenery speaks for itself. Overall, the rice terraces are what will win you over and not necessarily this tour group or another..
