Best tour I’ve ever been on!!
I’ve been all over the world but this tour was by far the best! We saw so many things and our tour guide was fantastic. I would highly recommend!

Awesome in every way

A wonderful day with my tour guide Yoshiko. We met at the A-Bomb Dome and toured the Peace Park first. A very enlightening experience and Yoshiko’s perspective was both informative and insightful. Then we took a local train and ferry Miyajima island. I did not know very much about Miyajima except for the famous red Tori gate in the sea. There was so much more there than I expected! The shrines were beautiful and the local deer were so friendly. Yoshiko shared touching childhood stories of life on the island and showed me all the best spots along the beach, the forest path, and the winding streets of the village. A truly remarkable day I would highly recommend to anyone.

Thank you for serving as your tour guide. I was excited to take you to the A-bomb Dome and Monuments in Peace Memorial Park, and then the Peace Memorial Museum. I was impressed by your sympathy and empathy to the A-Bomb dead. In Miyajima Island I also admired your amazing ability to understand Japanese Shinto and Buddhism. Mapping the Beauty of Hiroshima
I came to Hiroshima on a mission to get away from Tokyo and Yokohama. I found a sense of peace, serenity, sadness, and humility with the people of Hiroshima. It was my first time being in a city in Western Japan. The people of Hiroshima/Kure are rough but down to earth. Their speech is not as soft as what I am accustomed to in Tokyo or Kanto region. I was happy to hear a lot of interesting accent differences that my guide taught me. My guide Yuko took me to the Atom Bomb museum and Miyajima. We filmed together one of the most intense iphone videos I ever made in a museum. This experience was touching and very powerful. Yuko being from Kure taught me many things in our short interaction. She exhibited to me a different flavor of the Japanese spirit. She is the epitome of a very hardworking, happy go lucky demeanor. I think Hiroshima is a very beautiful city and an example of a Japan that has healed from a difficult past. Miyajima is a big contrast from Hiroshima. It is a very peaceful island and was untouched when the bomb was dropped. Nonetheless it was nice to try some local food and I highly recommend the oysters as they are a delicacy in this prefecture. Thank you for your kind comment. It was very fortunate that I got to give you a tour in Hiroshima before the omicron surge. The nice and warm weather made me feel relaxed at the peace park and Miyajima. It was a nice surprise that you were interested in my hometown Kure and its culture. So much so that I was excited to talk about the naval port town, its food and the film locations for “yakuza”movies! From those pictures you took in Kure, I can tell you had a good time there. I am glad you liked your oyster lunch. If you have another chance to come here in summer, we could try some conger eels that taste the best in summer. また会いましょうね！-Yuko

BEST GUIDE!!
Yuji provided a perfect personalized tour of Miyajima island for my husband and I. He had Wonderful informative laminated cards full of information on history, culture, expressions, language, and local food that was very useful for us to read on the train to Miyajima island. Once on the island, we visited the main shrine. After, we explored the upper shrines where Yuji explained Shinto and Buddhist beliefs in great detail. There is an underground passage with illuminated buddhas which he led us through while chanting a Buddhist prayer for our families. The experience was transformative and beautiful-something we will always reflect upon. Our trail back to the ferry led us through natural paths with high views of the island and friendly deer. Yuji treated us to playing his wooden flute in a peaceful wooded area on the trail. We then went back to Hiroshima for some out of this world okinomoyaki. Yuji had very detailed information about each place for us to read to select which place we wanted to try. After trying okinomoyaki several times in Tokyo and Osaka, hands down, Hiroshima style wins! We then walked to the A bomb building and several significant spots around memorial peace park. We chose to see the museum on our own, but Yuji gladly understood as the day was getting late. Yuji is very friendly, sincere, and has a local perspective of Hiroshima. He shared his parents’ experience as elementary children feeling the impact from 75 kilometers away. We could easily come back and have a full day tour in Hiroshima again with Yuji. Highly recommend this tour! If we could, we would have Yuji show us around other sites of Japan for several days. A must if you are in Hiroshima. Thank you, Yuji!!!

Thank you for your nice review to me. I was very glad I read it. Due to Covid-19, I haven't had much work as a tour guide for the last two years. So I was a little nervous on the day of the tour, but your friendly attitude to me and interest in Japanese culture made it a more understandable guide. Yes, it was a really great day. We enjoyed to exchange our cultural backgrounds and I heard some interesting information about Eastern Europe. I would like you to enjoy traveling all over Japan while staying in Japan. Probably you can easily find the rabbit hole that leads to the wonderland of Japan. Finally, I much appreciate the God for arranging this meeting with you. see you again. 　Yuji.

Excellent tour
Kaori was a fantastic guide - we enjoyed the tour very much! She gave us a lot of context as we walked around Hiroshima, as well as her family story of the atomic bombing. It was a moving experience. We then enjoyed a more lighthearted trip to Miyajima, complete with lunch and lots of exploring. Kaori was very kind and knew so much about the area - we highly recommend her to anyone traveling to Hiroshima!

I am greateful to know that you enjoyed the tour. I myself had a great time with you. It was a little bit shame that we were not able to go up the mountain in Miyajima. The view from the top is magnificent and there is a nice hiking way to enjoy the beautiful nature in Miyajima. Autumn color is beautiful and spring cherry blossom season is also wonderful. Delightful tour of Hiroshima & Miyajima

My husband and I had a wonderful day with our guide Keiko Tanaka! Despite the closures of Peace Memorial museum, Hiroshima castle and Shukkei-en garden due to covid-19, Keiko-san made sure our trip was a memorable one. She was kind to share the story about her father surviving the bombing. We were glad to have such a knowledgeable, professional and easy to talk with guide.
In Miyajima we not only visited the Itsukushima shrine, but also had a scenic cable car ride up to the top of Mount Misen. However, we did not get a chance to see the O-Torii gate in it's full glorious view, as it was covered for a restoration.
To sum it up, we were so inspired with the city and it's people, the tour and the stories that promised ourselves to return to Hiroshima during a warmer season some day once everything is open again :)
Highly recommend this tour and our guide Keiko-san!

Great tour of Hiroshima

My son and I had a very memorable tour of Hiroshima with Yuko. She was easy to talk with and well organized. Her experience as a teacher shown through in her knowledge of the places we visited and the interest she showed in us as people and travelers. Every American, every lover of peace, needs to visit this place and understand what happened here. There is no way that words can describe what you will see and feel when you are here. Yuko helped make that come alive for us. Many thanks.

Guide was delightful

Despite the restrictions from Corona virus precautions (peace memorial museum was closed) we had a wonderful tour thanks to the vibrant pleasant guide Yuko. Very organized and informative. Best of the three tours we have booked via Tripadvisor on this Japan trip.

Although other tourists sites were closed, we were able to spend more time on Miyajima Island and the Peace Memorial Park. I was glad that I could help you get nice souvenirs.
