A MUST-do if on a tight timeline!! History of Kobe, culture, & beef!
My partner is very interested in Kobe beef, but with such a tight timeline in Japan - I didn’t think Kobe for a whole day was feasible. I found this tour as I was trying to maximize efficiency on our stop. I was not expecting to learn so much and have such an incredible experience.
We met Sumile at the train station, just like she confirmed the night before. She greeted us with a smile and made sure we were comfortable before we started. Because my partner is a beef-aficionado, on our way to the first shrine, she taught us many things about beef. Then we went to on our tour, which highlighted the diverse religious aspect of Kobe. Aunty knew everyone! For the first time I went into a mosque, visited a Catholic Church, went past a Jian Temple and Synagogue and got to meditate near a shrine! We also visited a beautiful French-inspired home with an incredible view.
You work up an appetite for your meal. She let us visit a jerky factory and store - which was an excellent treat. The store owners were very gracious and let us watch him prepare the kobe jerky. They also had other offerings (like pork and coffee). At lunch, we had a great chef, and we were so thankful she was there to help translate so we learned about the chef’s history and beef!
We finished the tour with 8 minutes to spare so she made sure we headed to our next destination carefully.
We knew so little about Kobe before the tour and in the 4 hours we felt like we hit a lot of the spots. I wish she gave more tours!! She happily takes photos, and is willing to help with recommendations. She told my partner about the best knife shop in Kyoto!

I recently went on a Temple Walking and Food Experience that flawlessly combined spiritual exploration with a delectable Kobe steak Lunch and sake. The temple-walking part was truly magical. Our guide expertly led us through a series of breathtaking temples, each with its unique architectural style and historical significance. The serene atmosphere allowed for moments of deep reflection and appreciation of the temples. The peaceful surroundings provided a perfect backdrop for contemplation. As we transitioned to the culinary aspect of the tour, it was equally outstanding. We visited a local restaurant with a special license for Kobe beef and indulged in the region's culinary heritage. Interacting with the chef and learning about their cooking technique was an added bonus.
This experience is ideal for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of local culture while indulging in delicious food. We could not have asked for a better guide. Sumile was very friendly and knowledgeable. The communication was great! We were able to easily meet. She and Naruto went out of their way to provide a great experience. She readily took photos with our phones and also shared photos she took with us after, which was a nice extra. It was very hot on the day of our tour, but she had places of respite as we walked. Our lunch was well planned and organized.

We met Mito our guide at the appropriate spot and time. She was professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming. We had lunch at a popular Kobe restaurant where we had Sake, Kobe Beef and a Teppanyaki performance by the chef.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and each other's company. But before lunch we walked he Kitano area. We began our tour at the oldest Ikuta Shrine with 1800 years of history. We had time to reflect at the sanctuary in the ancient grove behind the shrine. From Ikuta Shrine we took a short walk to historical Kitano where we saw many cultures in the architecture & religious spaces. A peaceful melting pot of international coexistence. Next we took a break in Kitano square to take in the breathtaking views of Kobe and the surrounding harbor. Finally on our way to lunch, there was ample time for gift shopping and tasting the local sweets. Mito was accommodating, engaging and we highly recommend her expertise while visiting Kobe.

A beautiful tour, full of curiosities and gastronomically interesting. Tours like these can be found in many places; why choose this? the staff leading the experience makes the real difference between a simple tour and a beautiful tour. Sumide, our guide, catapulted us into a beautiful reality by introducing us to many beautiful places and many good foods! He helped us well beyond the limits of the tour itself and gave us a unique experience that made us say "we can't wait to go back to Kobe!"

Sumile has an easy way about her and and has a wealth of knowledge. She quickly made us feel welcome and offered edits to the plan to suit us and make sure we would still enjoy ourselves in the heat. This was our favourite day and activity of our 3 week trip in Japan. Thanks Sumile!

Out of all the tours we had in Japan, this one with Sumile felt the most authentic. We could see that she really loved her city and country, but without coming off as some patriotic drone with a fake smile. We learned a lot and saw a side of Japan and Kobe that I think foreigners don’t always get to experience. The sites we visited were great and we were able to customize and work around the intense heat. Would highly recommend the tour based on this alone, but then once you factor in the incredible lunch (included with a proper free drink too) and that Sumile even made sure we would catch our train on time and got us a taxi, this is a 7/5 experience.

Sumile was the perfect tour guide to Kobe. She embodied the life of the old city, all the places of worship plus lots more. She passion both showing us neat things and learning things we know. This was worlds better than a group tour being just my girlfriend and myself. I've been on dozens and dozens of tours and Sumile was just the best.
BTW- The Kobe beef lunch is from an excellent grade 5 Kobe Beef Tepanyaki restaurant. They will show you their gold statue proving it. The taste is like nothing you've ever tasted
I'm sure that this would be the best and cheapest way of getting a wonderful tour and a Kobe beef lunch from a restaurant that's been vetted as one of the best.
After two weeks in Japan, I can't recommend Sumile's tour more highly. You'll have a great time, have a great lunch, and make a new friend.

SUMILE was the absolute best tour guide! She took us to several places of worship and explained the history in detail.. She didn't rush the tour, walking at a leisurely pace and stopping for us to take photos and she also took photos of us in front of the sights. We ended the tour in Chinatown for some real Kobe beef. We were told the history and requirements for the "Kobe Beef"designation and truly enjoyed the meal. The Chef answered all our questions. It was the best tour of the 2 weeks we spent in Japan! Sumile said she can also do personalized tours in Osaka and Kyoto - wish we knew that a few days ago! We have great memories of this tour and highly recommend Sumile!
