去吃了传说中的豆乳甜甜圈，还不错!还有醃渍生鱼片也很棒，各种食物的店家，可以直接在市场里解决一餐，还有一些醃菜蛮特别的，送礼也很适合！

Perfect way to see Kyoto

My brother and I scheduled a half day private walking tour our first full day visiting Kyoto. Our guide was Miho - she was absolutely wonderful! Very knowledgeable about the area & did a great job fitting in many stops without making our day feel rushed. Throughout the day she also gave us tips on good restaurants to try, how to use the public transportation (subway & buses very popular), other sights that were must see & local shopping. It was the perfect way to start our time in Kyoto & her recommendations made the rest of our time there very enjoyable.

Best day of the trip! Do this, and do it early

I 1000% endorse a private custom walking tour with Japan Wonder Travel. They worked with us over email to accommodate our schedule and preferences and clearly communicating how/when we would meet our guide....

Our guide Ellie was WONDERFUL. She was a local, extremely knowledgeable, a clear guide, helpful navigator, and patient photo-taker :) Ellie did a great job giving as much or little context as we needed/wanted to appreciate in a given stop, and she patiently and thoroughly answered all our questions about anything and everything - sites, the city, cultural customs, etc. Wandering a food market was especially helpful; she was able to explain what we were looking at, what was good and what less so, so that for the rest of our trip, we actually knew what we were getting. She also taught us how to use the bus and metro!

I strongly suggest doing this tour early in your trip! Learn about food, customs, language, transportation, and more early on, so you can thrive the rest of your time in Japan. This was our most memorable and favorite day of the whole trip.

Fantastic day walking tour !

Our guide for the day, Ellie, was excellent in every way. Her English is very good and her enthusiasm, knowledge and ability to communicate all of this to us was exceptional. We covered a range of historical sites which included detailed and highly interesting explanations of practices and traditions as well as a wealth of background and historical information that we otherwise would have been ignorant of. Ellie is more than prepared to tailor your tour to your specific needs. We would both throughly recommend this tour to any one contemplating visiting Kyoto. Incidentally, wherever we go, we always tend to book a private tour, usually a walking one, regardless of expense. Travelling is pricey anyway, so to us it makes total sense to invest a little extra to get the most our of the travel experience. Finally, our rapport with ellie during the tour was such that we were both genuinly sorry to have to say goodbye...

Kyoto tour

Our tour guide, Risako, was terrific: smart, engaging, thorough, and funny. When we gave her a list of sites that we wanted to see, she composed a well-paced itinerary. Throughout our half day tour, she provided us with great information on the history and significance of the 4 sites we visited. I would gladly visit Kyoto again and would love to have her give another tour of the city.

Best Tour!

I had a fantastic tour with Ellie. She tailored my tour to exactly what I wanted—a mix of historical sites and city areas. Ellie was super helpful in explaining to me common practices and traditions at the temples and shrines we visited. When we walked around Kyoto, she knew the perfect shops to take me into to buy souvenirs, sample different foods, and shop. The best tour I've been on and would highly recommend.

Amazing host and highly recommended!
Our family of 4 with kids 9 and 11 spent a wonderful 4 hours with Mika early on a Saturday morning. A true Kyoto born local who lives here and speaks very good English.
We were keen to see some popular sights like Fushimi Inari and the Bamboo forest but the rest was pretty flexible and Mika san planned our morning amazingly. From the train journey to the walking route and stops along the way to explain Japanese and Kyoto local customs as well as the nice lunch stop in Arashiyama for Udon. The boys are generally restless after an hour but Mika san kept us all very informed and the kids very engaged the whole morning that we felt very sad to say goodbye after lunch. Mika san also give us some good tips of where to go after our tour and our onward journey to Osaka. Highly recommended and especially Mika san.. we’ve had some private tours and guides before but she was truly friendly and we felt very comfortable from the first few moments and felt like we were leaving a dear friend by the end of the tour.

Excellent tour with a great guide !

We had a great time with Ellie @ Japan Wonder Travel walking around Kyoto. Ellie was very nice all the time, with a good English and she accommodated all our requests and questions. We enjoyed it very much !!!!

First Class Experience

Our group of 11 was well taken care of by our guide Akiko-san and driver. We were so large of a group it made sense for us to have Japan Tours arrange for our own transport. we went to so many places honestly i cant remember them all. We did get an early start though which was a plus because many of the traditional sites get very busy as the day wear's on. Honestly, i really wouldn't tour without a guide because i have found then I am simply looking at buildings and not understanding what i am seeing. Aki was very helpful in explaining in great detail not only the back stories of the major shrines and attractions but as important she also told us the little stories about some of the smaller shrines which people are just walking by. It was a great way to see and appreciate many of the wonderful sightseeing locations that Kyoto has to offer and i would therefore highly recommend them.
