Really fun experience
I visited Mansagama in February 2020 and had prebooked the experience. Mansagama very delightful and helped me create a lovely tea bowl which looks awesome. I decided I wanted a second bowl and he guided me through the process and took a lot of care which I appreciated.

There was difficulty with shipping to Australia due to the pandemic and I contacted Mansagama and let him know that it hadn’t arrived. Mansagama let me know that the postal service was frozen and he organised DHL shipping at no additionally charge. I received the pottery a week or two later.

I love the pottery and I would like to do a matcha bowl sometime when I can travel overseas again.

I would recommend for people interested in hand making things.

Kind Artist - Really Cool Experience!

Stopped in Kyoto for a quick leg of my journey and it was awesome! Mansagama is an kind and eccentric guy, just see his studio! I recommend doing it as a pair, but Mansagama is a great teacher. He'll ship it to you after you depart the country, and he's very accommodating.

Best Experience in Japan!

Going to the Mansagama pottery atelier was my favorite experience I did while I was in Japan! I really enjoyed the feeling of making a bowl, it is very peaceful and calming. Also, you get to pick your glaze at the end and they are all so beautiful. Another really charming aspect is the location as this atelier is on the philosopher's path, a beautiful walk along a stream and cherry blossoms. This little place is very authentic and the owner is so nice and humble! He will guide you gently in the process. He is a great teacher and has a very welcoming personality!

Highlight of our Kyoto Trip!

Me and my brother had heaps of fun with this experience! The shop is lovely, located along the Philosopher's path, and Mansagama is the kindest and most patient teacher. Highly recommend this experience! Thank you so much!

So friendly and welcoming!

We chose the bowl experience today for my brother and I to get some memorable souvenirs. Originally, I had booked for 3:30pm but we came an hour earlier and he accommodated for us so thank you so much! :)

The cost is so cheap for what you get and the owner was so patient, helpful and kind. It only cost 1,200 yen to ship it overseas to Australia for up to 4 potteries which is crazy inexpensive. I highly recommend this experience to everyone!

Amazing hidden experience

We stumbled upon this place whilst walking the philosophers path. It was a great price for around 20 minutes of pottery where we made our own cups. We only spoke English but this was not an issue as the instructions were still clear and understandable. Can't wait to receive our cups which they will glaze for us and inscribe with our name and date of making. They are posting to us in Australia once baked. Would recommend to everyone not just those interested in pottery as I was not.
