There is something special about being welcomed into someone's home and treated instantly like friends. This was our experience with the super fab mother and daughter team, Ruth and Ranita. As a holiday present for my sister-in-law, we wanted an intimate and fun experience. AND our expectations were exceeded, for sure. We not only learned some great recipes and culinary techniques, we also learned much about the history and culture of Malaysia and the surrounding area. And the group activity really was SO fun with everyone creating their own special creations/variations and nuanced interpretation of the meal. We hope connect again with them and WithLocals as these types of experiences are really great during this time when our travels have been blunted due to the pandemic!

I loved the recipe Ruth & her daughter Ranita shared with us. It was easy to make, but very special. They told us it's something their family makes at special occasions - and it surely tasted like it!
It was really nice to be welcomed in their kitchen, they both made sure we could follow the steps & shared nice stories while we were cooking.

We enjoyed to hear Ruth and Ranita share more about Kuala Lumpur's food and to learn how to cook such a tasty curry. They walked us through the whole process with a lot of patience and the dish was a true hit! Thank you Ruth and Ranita!

This Live cooking experience was truly aamazing! Ruth and Ranita are mother and daughter and they are so sweet and great cooks! They taught us about the different ingredients we were using and cooking with. I must say, I learned a lot. I highly recommend an online cooking class with Ruth and Ranita to get to know the real cuisine of Malaysia.
