Jusara is such an excellent guide. She made us feel relax and comfortable. She took time in providing us with so much information and the lives in Rocinha. Great experience that we will never forget

Amazing, thanks to our tourguide it was very nice with you! It was an intresting experience and we felt save with you everytine because you know how the system is working in the city in the city😄

Omg this was honestly the best experience/ tour so far.
We had already seen the Main attractions; Sugar loaf cable car, JC the Redeemer by Train, the Tijuca rainforest etc.
The walking 3 hour tour with Jucara is a must do!! Seriously incredible experience of Favela life. We visited 3 areas of the Favela including the school, library, church and last but not least a favela home. Cesar and Jo are so friendly.
My daughter (16) and I, Ioved learning about Jucara’s family and life growing up. Her pride and love of her heritage, her donating to the community. Unlike other non native tour guides. She talked of The Favela history, the mandatory government voting system and how people are fined if they don’t vote.
We felt really safe, and locals are happy and friendly. The ‘no photo areas’, Jucara explains, how the drug gangs are able to continue in specific areas. This understanding with the police keeps the locals safe. She explains it is safe from theft etc as locals do not steal in the Favela, not in their community.
Jucara speaks excellent English
and I highly recommend asking for her specifically!! Other tourists have been dissatisfied with Jeep tours and not having the experience we had.
This is great value for money. We were collected from Copacabana beach to Rocinha by an arranged Uber. Takes about 30 minutes. Jucara meets you and a return Uber is arranged. I offered to pay for our own Uber home. Jucara said - no it is included. How fabulous is that.
This was the best day, this has given us special lifetime memories, to understand Rio life.

A fantastic experience with a just as fantastic guide. With her roots from the favela she gave the most genuine and warm insight to the life in a favela.

O roteiro é simplesmente incrível! A favela é pacificada e muito segura para quem vai com guia, você sobe de moto táxi e depois desce a pé (tem que ter disposição), o passeio inclui visita a casa de um morador que tem uma laje com vista incrível, além de serem muito simpáticos. Juçara tem grande conhecimento sobre o local e sua história, é muito simpática e tira ótimas fotos. Indico muito, é uma experiência bem completa. O ponto de encontro é de fácil acesso, direto na porta do metrô. Repetiria tranquilamente o passeio.

One of the best tours we did while in Rio! We got to experience real Favela life and meet Jo and Cesar who live there. They invited us into their home, played games with us and took pictures- it was fantastic!

We strongly recommend this tour which is an integral part of the Brazilian reality.
Thank you very much to Juçara (our guide) for introducing us to the favelas of Rocinha, we really liked all the historical and others explanations which allowed us to understand the origins of the favelas and the issues that this generates from a socio-political point of view.

Juçara was an amazing host! She was extremely knowledgeable, answering all of the questions. From the time we booked the tour, she reached out to us on WhatsApp to coordinate the logistics ahead of time. She called an Uber for us at the pickup point and then also when the tour was over.
We felt completely safe throughout the tour due to Juçara's presence and expertise, for example telling us where we can or cannot take photos. We were the only ones on the tour, and we definitely looked like tourists in the area.
The tour also includes a visit to a real home in the favela, where Caesar and Jo were great hosts and even played some games with us.
The Rocina favela is a very unique place that we wouldn't have the chance to experience if we didn't book this tour on TripAdvisor, so you should definitely check it out if you are in Rio.
