we had a fabulous day touring 3 wineries. Alen picked us up from our rental in rovinj and we made our way through istria learning all about the wine, soil, topography, and more. the three stops were chosen by Alen: matosevic, damjanic, and veralda. the staff at each were friendly and knowledgeable. we had a variety of red and white wine and food (meat, cheese, bread, olive oil) at each tasting. Alen provided historical and cultural insight throughout the trip. great way to spend a day in croatia!

We had the most amazing day on this tour with Alan. It was just my fiance and myself with Alan so it was a private tour. Alan was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. The wineries he took us to were both beautiful and very different so it was great to experience a small family-run business and then a larger scale establishment - both with the most stunning views. I would highly recommend this tour, we have already planned to do this again next year with our parents.

What a day!!! I come to Croatia every summer and this is one of the best things I have ever done!!! Alen picked us up in the morning and took us to 3 authentic wineries where we had house cured meats, cheeses and olive oil to pair with our wines!! We saw the lovely country with amazing views and learned every inch of the way!! Culture, wine, olive oil food!! You name it Alen knew it!!! Already planning to go back next summer to try 3 new wineries!!

My wife and I had the most incredible day with This is Istria. I plan to write a more in-depth review later, but I have to say you will be so glad you booked with them. Expect a day full of incredible food, wine, and great conversation. Alen has a wealth of knowledge and personal connections in Istria and I can't recommend the tours enough.

This tour was indeed a treat! It was just my husband and me, and Alan, our tour guide—so yes, a private tour. Alan, who is very knowledgable about wines himself, selected 3 small wineries for our day. At each winery, the owner shared the attributes of his/her various wines, poured generous servings of each, and offered beautiful platters of food. Alan loves Istria and it shows in his tales of the countryside and people. You come away with an understanding of why Istria and its people are so special. No need for dinner after your tour.

An excellent tour and experience. My partner and I did a day wine tasting and couldn’t have felt more comfortable and at ease with Alen. He was so knowledgable about wine and clearly well known and loved by all the staff at the winery’s. Despite listing as a light lunch, we came away feeling very well fed and he even managed to convert my partner into drinking white wine! Would absolutely recommend Alen and his trips to anyone! Thanks again.

We had a perfect day! We have seen different parts of the beautiful istria and went to three different vinerys. All of them were unique in there on way. You get to taste many different vines to get a better understanding of the region. The oliveoils and food are also delicious!
Alen is an amazing guide, highly recommended to book a tour with him!

When it's snowing in Istria in April, the best thing to do is go on a wine tour! This wine tour with Allen was certain MORE, more than we could have imagine and hoped for.
We tested the most amazing wine, had the best olive oil, a fantastic seafood dinner and the best company. We learned so much about the area, the wineries, and how good olive oil is on chocolate cake.
We could not recommend this tour highly enough and would tell anyone that listens to go to Istria and do this particular wine tour.
Allen was so accommodating, knowledge and we had the best chats with him. The whole day felt like we were hanging out with a VIP friend who has all the hookups to local wineries.
Crotia is a special place for us and we will be back again and again.....
We tested the most amazing wine, had the best olive oil, a fantastic seafood dinner and the best company. We learned so much about the area, the wineries, and how good olive oil is on chocolate cake.

If you are planning a trip to Croatia, ThisIstria is the agency to contact. He can plan all aspects of your trip. I only wish we had known about Alen sooner. Without a doubt the Food and Wine Tour was the best we have ever had in all our travels! It is so true that the person/tour guide makes the experience. Alen was that person. We went to three Istrian wineries with lunch at the last one Degrassi plus a side trip at San Rocco for a taste of grappa. Each winery was unique in its own special way and Alen had wonderful relationships with them all which enhanced our tour. The meal we had at Degrassi was one of the best meals we had in Croatia.
Alen is a local and was able to share his love of Istria with his own family history in addition to his wealth of information about history, terrain, and his extensive knowledge of wines, olive oil, grappa and so much more. It was a spectacular day and one we will not forget thanks to Alen and his passion for Istria. We felt we had a true local perspective. I only wish we had the opportunity to do more tours with him. Thank you Alen. We hope our paths cross again!
