After stopping in Merzouga for a mint tea we ventured into the desert through the dunes, on top of our Toyota 4x4, and took possession of our tent in the tented camp Ksar Bisha. Beautiful colorful and cozy.
Mohammed Moujane our exceptional guide took us with a 4x4 through the dunes to see the sunset .. a couple of dream hours. The desert takes you .. and never leaves you.
Upon return an excellent typical Berber dinner in the camp. In the morning camel over two hours x get to the big dune x see the sun rise. Not to be missed. After returning and a hearty breakfast , the great Mohammed, took us back to merzouga x resume our journey.
Two unforgettable days.

We took this 2 day tour which was organized for us by Yassin. It is a beautiful tour, organized in detail. We stayed at the Luxury Camp where everything was very well looked after, clean and welcoming. We recommend these tours together with Yassin. Paola and Maria Grazia.

We took a desert tour with 4x4 organized from riad Ouzine. Mr. Mohamed took us to lake Dayet Srij, gnoua musicians, nomad familly living in berber tent and than at Kasba Caravan we took two camels. Our two guides were excellent, one of them took photos of us and video. This was a pleasant ride, special feeling, beautiful sun set, really great.

I've just left it and, for sure, I'll never forget it. You'll never find a closer experience to the desert and berber culture than this. The sunset riding the camels, the awesome tribal music till late, the tasty dinner (even a vegan option), the unspeakable sunrise that brings tears to eyes were great, sure, but the words with Hassan, the camel man, the experiences with the musicians and how great their people are, this is what will bring back with me forever. We did a private tour and Erg Chebbi dunes were amazing on the edge of Sahara Desert. Our guide was able to find us a luxury camp with aircon otherwise in the heat of July it would have been unbearable at night. There were about 4 luxury tents set apart from each other as well as the other more affordable tents and they were very private. My daughter refused to do the camels rides, so we settled for quad biking on the dunes for a good one hour and stopped to see the sun-set. It was particularly windy during our trip and overcast so we did not see many stars or milky ways but the Gnawa musicians made up for this!! Supper was basic with a salad starter, grilled chicken breast and fruit and for breakfast continental style with a good selection of cakes, bread, jam, omelette etc. In the morning we visited Erfoud also known by the name of ‘Gate of Sahara Desert’ and had a chance to search for fossils in the nearby hills where we met children from a nearby Berber Nomad settlement. We shared sweets and stickers with the children who loved it. We also visited the fossil museum and shop an isolated building and very deserted. We also stopped at Rissani a small oasis town. Here we stopped at ‘Ksar El Fida’ at the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherfi founder of the Alaouite dynasty that still governs Morocco today. Rissani is quite historic as it situated on the old gold trade route of Sijilmassa a medieval city now in ruins along the River Ziz and Rissani. This western Trans-Saharan caravan trade route, which extended from the Niger River in Sudan to Tangier in northern Morocco and also connected the salt trade route to Mali and Timbuktu. If you are coming all the way out to Erg Chebbi which is interesting in itself don’t miss out on Erfoud and Rissani.

Oh, tremendous enjoyment and delight! Fun and pleasure. Camel trekking to see the sunset. Dances and music of colorful desert people . Large seas of dunes to the horizon. We did walking, 4x4 driving on dunes and camel trekking. Even wearing dessert garb is an exotic experience. Unforgettable!

It was a prefect weather when we arrived at desert. We were welcomed with drinks and made us settle in our respective glamcamps. The accomodation was awesome. We were made feel at home. Camel ride was fun. Food during dinner and new year was sumptuous! Good job to Morocco Easy Tours for helping us arrange this desert treat! 👍👍

Fes and Marrakech are two must see cities, and I suspect that many visitors to the Sahara go from Fes to the desert and then on to Marrakech. It is an 8 hr drive between the two cities, an 8hr drive from Fes to the desert and then a two day drive to Marrakech. So the question to ask is whether the Sahara is worth the trip and the time. For me the answer is YES for two reasons: the Sahara is unique and one of the great wonders of the world, and the drive if properly planned takes you through some amazing country--though different, think American South West--and provides insight into rural Moroccan/small town life. The luxury tents are fine. Take the camel. Don't view it as a camel ride. Think of it as the best way to get a very small taste of traveling through the desert.
