This was my first trip to China and I was travelling by myself so I was feeling a little anxious. I am so glad I booked this tour. Penny arrived at the hotel on time and was extremely warm and welcoming. Penny's knowledge of Shanghai and its history was fantastic and she had wonderful communications skills. Her English was perfect! Not only did Penny given me a wonderful tour of the French concession she also showed me how to use the subway and gave me many other tips that came in handy when travelling in Shanghai. We had a wonderful lunch together and she even told me where to get the best coffee in Shanghai. I would highly recommend this tour.

This was our first trip to Shanghai and we are so glad that we booked this trip early on. Our guide Penny was an absolute delight. She explains the history of both Shanghai and the French Concession in a way that is both educational and fun. Walking through the park, she introduced us to people she knew, making us feel very much at home. Penny then spent extra time with us afterwards at lunch, guiding us through one of our best meals ever.

Excellent tour of the French Concession with Kelly (Ping). Kelly arrived on time and handled the transportation. On our way there, she provided a historical overview so I had a basic understanding before our walk. We started at a park, where I got a first hand look at how the locals spend a quiet Sunday. We then moved onto the neighborhood itself, strolling down some of the alleyways, as Kelly explained how many of the residents live today. We also stopped for tea (dumpling place was optional) and ended at the French Club, with a view of the city 30+ stories up. Kelly made sure to show me other suggestions to visit and offered her support during my stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, I highly recommend it!

There were two in our group and both of us were extremely happy with our guide Penny. She was highly knowledgeable about the history of Shanghai and the French Concession in particular. We gained a lot from her insights. After our three-hour tour she recommended a restaurant for lunch which served wonderful dumplings and hot/sour soup (yum).
We highly recommend Penny if you are thinking about a private tour of the French Concession.

Our guide Penny was great. We walked though Fuzhou Park enjoying the morning activities, learned a lot about Dr Sun Yat Sen and had a delicious lunch of Shanghai specialties. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful experience exploring the French concessions with the experience, informative , friendly and professional guide - Kelly. Highly recommend to someone who wants to explore Shanghai and it’s history.

If you are after a rich historical background, enriched with some fascinating personal family context, Penny's your guide. We found her charming and informative. She picked us up, so we didn't even need to find our way to a meeting point. Our walk took us through key public places in the former French concession and also some intriguing out of the way back streets. When she heard about the restaurant we were planning to go to that evening, Penny helped us book the table and gave us some excellent tips on what to order.

I spent a very entertaining day with Kelly, she is an excellent Guide. Great English, personable, knowledgable and so enthusiastic. We had a planned trip but as I had time on my hands she filled it with an impromptu visit to the Old City. We nipped in and out of side streets, visited the markets, watched the world go by. It was such a contrast to the area around my hotel near to the Shanghai Tower. We then headed to the French Concession and spent a couple of hours meandering around the sites. So much to see I need to come back. We stopped for great noodles in a local restaurant. We nipped in and out of restaurants and buildings just to see what they were like. I definitely feel like I got a very good insight into the old Shanghai. Would highly recommend this lovely lady, you will not be disappointed. A truly excellent day out.

We had a lovely day with Kelly on the walking tour of French Concession. Kelly is very knowledgable on the locations/history/backgound info, friendly, helpful & speak very good English. She also recommended some great eating places to us. We covered a lot of grounds & she showed us some interesting spots along the way. Highly recommend this tour with Kelly.

Penny was one of the most engaging tour guides I’ve met on my travels; detailed, insightful and above all, pleasant.
She brought us at a leisurely place through PuXing Park where we saw locals doing what they do...having fun and socially engaging...dancing, calligraphy, debate...on to Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s house, through the old French Sports Club grounds - now a Japanese hotel chain - side streets and...much, much more...
Would have loved to have had a few more hours.
Penny, you were a treat!!! Recommended without hesitation.
