The tour goes through the gardens of a private property, which is being actively managed to provide habitat for the insects, frogs and snakes that we saw. We were welcomed warmly by the family that lives there, and the dinner after was delicious, and served promptly.

We did this the first night after we flew into Costa Rica, and it was the perfect way to start the trip!! The food was great the tour guides were excellent and the walk and host family went out of their way to make this the best first night here. I totally recommend this on your first day or a day you want to relax, the walk is not strenuous and the casual atmosphere just sets the mood. Totally recommend this to everyone of all ages.

We loved connecting with the family, especially Nala the dog! Gabriel was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable, invested and engaging. We saw 9 species of frogs, a vine snake, turtles, a sloth and bullet ants. The food was amazing. We really appreciate to biodiversity and keeping every natural and pure. Checkout their gift shop, everything is made by the family.

This night walk was nice. Although it is behind someone's home, it was very nice and intimate. We saw a lot of insects, frogs, spiders, snakes, etc. The house is bomb. OMG the food was so bomb. They had some type of hot sauce and the lady was nice enough to make us a bottle to purchase, because it was homemade. I would love to do this tour again just for the food. Home cooked meal, wonderful family business.

This was THE BEST night hike in the Arenal area. Better than Oasis. Small group, bilingual naturalist guide, hotel pickup/return, the homemade dinner was the best dinner we had on our trip. I could do this excursion again and again. Poison dart frogs, red-eyed tree frogs, glass frog, basilisk, sloth and babies, and more.

What a unique experience. Yares was our tour guide and Johnny was our driver. The family welcomed us to their beautiful home. We saw so many different frogs. Some howler monkeys and 2 sloths. One of them was only about 10 feet away.

Francisco was great guide - very knowledgeable & funny and showed us so many animals we hadn't yet seen in Costa Rica. We saw about 6 different kinds of frogs, a lot of interesting insects, and even an armadillo!
This was all an amazing adventure on the property of the Mendez bed & breakfast & were provided a delicious Pollo casado afterward.
I highly recommend this tour!

Our tour Guide, Gabriel, was fantastic!!!! We first met him on this night tour. We were a party of 7, including 2 kids (11 and 8), an all of us were so excited and intrigued by this tour. The owners of the farm were so hospitable and friendly as well.
The next day we had an all day tour: Volcano tour, Waterfall and Hanging Bridges. Gabriel was once again our guide and again he was great! Very knowledgeable, and sincerely loves sharing Costa Rica with tourists.

I am so glad we did this, truly a highlight of our trip. Gustavo, our guide, was so extremely knowledgeable and was able to spot all sorts of nocturnal wildlife for us. We were so exited to see the red eye tree frogs and poison dart frogs (aka blue jean frogs)! The location was at a private home with stunningly beautiful views and gardens all around. Afterwards, we had a delicious dinner there on the balcony. It was truly unique because it felt so personal! Thank you Gustavo for providing such a special memory and all the great photos!!

This was a fun tour conducted by two very knowledgeable guides. We saw many frogs including red eyed and see through ones. We also saw lots of sleeping butterflies and other insects.
The chicken dinner provided was also very good with the exception of the black beans.

Fairly flat. Single file, it was dark, so flashlight is definitely good to have. They gave us all headlights to use. I recommend you stick close with the guide as he is very knowledgeable and has lots of interesting facts for you. Also, he will notice things that you won’t. Narrow trail around their family farm, basically. In the daylight, it lights seem dull, but by flashlight and with the guide sharing information and all of the different frogs, insects, etc, totally worth it! Sitting on their outdoor veranda overlooking the city lights eating traditional Costa Rican food was an excellent way to top it off! Love my keychain I bought in their small handmade craft area before leaving and so glad I did.
