We went for a bird tour with José around the Arenal volcano. We were amazed by the nature and birds, but the experience was really unique with José. He knows so many things about the birds but also about the plants and animals. After the tour, we had a typical Costa Rican breakfast and finally, we saw some sloths, it was so hard to spot them but our guide had the eye !
Many thanks José again for this memorable tour, we can only recommend you to do it !

Saw many birds, JP answered all our questions and made sure we saw everything we were hoping to see. Would recommend for a first time bird watcher

We did the afternoon bird watching and the day turned out to be rainy. Our guide warned us that the rain could limit the amount of birds we would see, but that they have various places they go and based on the rain they had selected a place. It was fabulous and we did get sun at the very end.
We went to the arenal observatory lodge, where they have an amazing view of the volcano, the lake, trails, and a HUGE fruit bird feeding station. The variety of birds we saw from big to small at the fruit feeding station was amazing. We then walked the trails and saw other bird species. At the very end we were lucky enough to get sun and when we got back to the beginning we were able to see those amazing views of the volcano and lake. Our guide was able to identify all the birds except one. I would highly recommend this tour.

Bernardo took us out on a February morning near the volcano. He was fantastic!
In no time at all, we saw many birds - the highlight of which was the common pootoo, which was completely camouflaged in a tree. I have no idea how he spotted it! Great morning, and we would book him again!

Went on an early morning bird watching tour with David Vargas - BEST GUIDE EVER. David & Randall were absolutely phenomenal - knowledgeable, patient, thoughtful and fun. Very conscious of our wants as we were not only birding but also photographing species. Arrived right at 5:15 am which is what we asked for.
Saw many, many new species.
If you are a birder - take this tour and ASK FOR DAVID & RANDALL.

My husband and I had 2 nights in La Fortuna and booked this trip with Jacamar Tours through our hotel - we were so glad we did. Our guides Jairo and Bryan were amazing, within minutes of us arriving we had seen numerous Sloths, poisonous dart Frogs, Toucans and countless beautiful birds. Jairo was so informative and he just knew so much about the wildlife. The trip was a gentle walk about 2K long which took about 2 hours stopping to watch the wildlife and take pictures. The time just flew by - thanks guys

Two of us took park in the early 5.30am birdwatching tour. Well worth the early start, so peaceful and all the birds were out. Jose was a fantastic guide. Highlights for me personally were seeing two types of Kingfisher, Woodpecker and Mot Mots. We must've seen 20-30 different species in 3.5 hours. This isn't a tour you could do alone. Jose was great at pointing out birds we would've otherwise missed. A MUST for any bird lover! Would 100% recommend.
