I worked with Andrei for months to plan an excursion to Monte Verde that doubled as my proposal to my future wife. First of all, let me say he didn't even bat an eye that we were two women. I felt very comfortable talking to him when some people could have been homophobic, but he was very kind in that regard. He treated me like any other couple getting engaged and that meant a lot to me. The beginning of my review is about my proposal excursion, if you wish to hear about our Adrenaline Combo or MonteVerde excursion please scroll down to skip the proposal section.
Due to an unexpected family emergency, Andrei was out of the country and couldn't help us directly any longer starting about a month before we left. Although initially concerning, he put me in the hands of his right hand man Gabriel. Gabriel was amazing. He was exceptionally kind and patient. He responded to me on whatsapp no matter the time of day and never made me feel bad about my level of detail I wanted in the proposal set up. I also hired him as a professional photographer to document the proposal. Which let me tell you, the photos were amazing. He was very reasonably priced. I would 100% hire him to document your excursions!! Long story short, we invited this man to come stay at our home in the states when he vacations- that's how much we enjoyed him.
I will say, the proposal did not go how I initially planned and payed for. This is not Conchal Fun's fault, but worth mentioning. The park that owns the butterfly garden where I was to propose last minute tried to charge me an outrageous amount to use their space. This was told to me five days before we were to arrive in Costa Rica. Of course I could not change my plans with such short notice and had to settle for less than my original well thought out and detailed set-up. I do not blame Conchal Fun for this, and they fought hard with the park company to help me, but I feel like this could have been dealt with much earlier than it was. Not five days before leaving. It all ended up working out and we did a simpler version of the proposal but the garden deck was not private, so random people were around watching. Which I'm sad about. BUT following the initial proposal Gabe followed us around for no joke: 2+ hours on the hanging bridges and did a full photoshoot. Every tree I wanted to stop at, every pose he patiently took photos of us. The moments he captured were priceless. And I'm happily engaged (: Please see photos.
Now, details about the excursions themselves.
Monteverde: a LONG drive away from the hotel (3.5-4 hours). This mountain region has horrible, horrible roads. You need motion sickness pills. BUT SO BEAUTIFUL AND WORTH IT!!! You go through adorable tiny towns see incredible Mountain Views. There are soooo many cute dogs people own hanging out on the sides of the streets you drive so that's fun to look at too. They allowed us to customize our trip and stop at Stella's Cafe for breakfast which allows you to nature watch. Then, the Selvature Park is where you go to in MonteVerde. There is the longest zip lines in the country (which are breathtaking), a reptile exhibit, eighteen sloths, a hiking trail with 8 long beautiful hanging bridges, and a giant three story butterfly exhibit. It rained briefly in the morning which was beautiful but bring a lightweight hooded jacket just in case. After our very long beautiful day, Gabe took us to a tiny family owned (my favorite) Costa Rican restaurant where we had Chicken Casado. Which let me tell you, I am still dreaming about. It was one of the top five best dishes I've ever had. I want it right now. We were exhausted afterwards so make sure you schedule some rest time the day after this excursion! So amazing!
Our second excursion was three days later and we went on Conchal Fun's 'Adrenaline Combo'. This takes place at a lodge in Rincón de la Vieja. There is zip lining, white water tubing, horse back riding, and hot springs/mud bath. I thought the day's activities were well scheduled - as in it was a packed day but it wasn't exhausting. It was engaging and enjoyable. Although, the people rush you through everything. Especially the zip lines. It's a go go go mentality. Our guide, Gabe, was with us at the beginning and end of each section of the tour. Which was nice because the people that ran the individual activities spoke very limited English and Gabe kept us informed and made me feel more safe. He also took photos on our phone for us which is awesome. You order your lunch when you first arrive so it's ready after tubing (order the fish it's so good). One major flaw was that the lodge people that didn't speak English seemed pretty unorganized. When we got to the safety briefing instruction part of the zip lining, they literally asked a guest to translate for them. As in a man who paid to be there sat and translated for us every instruction. He did a great job but I wonder what would have happened if he wasn't there. All ten of the rest of us in that group were American English only speakers and I would have considered how to slow down/break the zip line pretty crucial info. Let me emphasize, this has nothing to do with Conchal Fun - if they owned this lodge it would have been much more organized!
Also the white water tubing bit was definitely exilerating! Do not bring kids on this who aren't strong swimmers. We were in the country in May, so the very very beginning of wet season. The rains hadn't come yet to fill up the river so we got stuck on rocks a lot. There were three workers who followed us and un-stuck us repeatedly. Very hard workers. This part lasts two+ hours so bring sunscreen if you can and apply liberally before taking off on the horses (we still burned)! There is no shade when on the horses, you are riding through feilds and such (not forest) and remember CR is closer to the equator so you burn faster.
The HOT SPRINGS oh my goodness this was one of the highlights of my whole trip. You get painted by a man with stinky stinky sulfur mud, then bake in the sun, then you can jump in the river! Then you soak in the hot spring. So romantic with my new fiancé. I loved it.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Conchal Fun to do any excursion. They are communicative and flexible. They made our first trip to Costa Rica memorable and fun. If you want to do something, Andrei or Gabe will make it happen for you. We will never forget our time together. We even made a life long friend with our tour guide. Trust these guys, they are good people.

We went fishing with Conchalfun it was the best tour we did in Costa Rica. Luis our captai n was super friendly and a real deal fisherman. We caught rooster fish wich was our long time dream. we will never forget this day and how beautiful the coast line is. 100% recommended and we will be back for sure. Pura Vida

I am writing this review again as it seems it didn’t save properly… this is how awesome these guys were !! The first trip we made to Costa Rica my husband and I we booked a beach horseback ride with Conchal Fun for our honeymoon. It was absolutely spectacular. I cherish those memories dearly. It was a perfect day, a perfect setup. Our guide was just like a friend and gave off such a positive energy. We laughed a lot with him. This year we wanted to make a trip with friends and when everyone settled on Costa Rica again I just had to book another activity with Conchal Fun. We chose the jet ski tour and it did not disappoint. A while other expérience from the first but just as memorable and fun. I don’t know if we will go there again someday but they are welcome at our place if they ever come to Canada that is how awesome these people are. Pura Vida my friend !!

We absolutely loved the jet ski tour with Conchalfun. Our guide Ramiro was such a nice guy and super friendly. He took us to private beach and we got to swim and look for shells. The coast line is so beautiful and we really like the adrenaline of riding those jet skis. Overall great customer service booking with Andrei and we 100% recomend. We will be back next year for sure.

Hola. Conchalfun is just that an amazing company with unique experiences that they always customize to you and your family. Andrei gives personal service and it’s instant always there to answer a question, give an idea or just a check in to see that the 16 year olds are doing well on a hike designed just for them without momma.
We reached out to Andrei at the recommendation of our travel agent and wow was she right again. I am a 50 ish single mom travelling with my 16 year old son and his 16 year old girlfriend celebrating both of their sweet sixteens. We were staying at the Westin Conchal resort and we asked Andrei to book a fun day experiencing real Costa Rica to meet the locales and experience the culture. He planned an awesome day and took us to Santa Cruz for a lovely day of touring, eating, shopping and letting the teens practice their Spanish. To our surprise Andrei has Canadian roots and grew up in Montreal. He has a very rich understanding of Tico culture and what is the best way to see it. We were so impressed by everything including his cool vehicle and mostly his loving, kind and adventurous soul. A true gem of a human and a wise wise man.
We were so impressed we booked two more excursions while at the Westin. We did the jet ski tour which was so great for the teens as there is structure, different places to see, you travel quite a distance up the north shore even through open water where you get to really drive them hard and fast if you wish. Momma even got airborne a couple times 🤣. We went to see a couple gorgeous beaches where we went for a swim. The guide was so kind and fun that he really entertained the teens and saved the day when I lost my prescription sunglasses in the ocean. He took it on himself to cruise around slowly on the jet ski until he spotted them through the amazing blue water. Then he dove in got wet and saved my sunglasses from the Pacific Ocean. He didn’t need to do that but he did it anyway just to see me smile he said. Lovely lovely tour and experience.
Finally on our last day I trusted Andrei so much to organize a birthday excursion for my boy and his girlfriend the two 16 year olds who wanted to hike in the rainforest. So Andrei arranged to have his best guide Gabriel take the two of them to Rio Celeste, the volcano national park, sloth sanctuary and various other in the moment experiences including a local Tico breakfast and lunch, swimming and seeing the wonder of Costa Rica the right way with someone who knows the area. They had an absolute blast to have some freedom from momma while I lounged at the spa and had some time for myself.
Andrei and Gabriel really embraced what we were looking for. My son is 1/2 Tico but doesn’t know this part of his heritage. Gabriel and Andrei showed him what life was all about here, they had patience as he learns Spanish and after two days with these men he is almost fluent now with only one semester of Canadian Spanish back home. They are gonna keep in touch with him and when we come back next year to increase his knowledge of all that is Costa Rica Andrei and Gabriel will be top of our list to help organize that trip.
I can’t say enough about the experience with Conchalfun. They typify what Pura Vida means and they are so organized and kind. Love them ❤️🙏 They made the last 1/2 of our trip while in Playa Conchal out of this world.
Book with them it is worth every Penny!!!!!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time on our guided jet ski tour. We saw so many different areas along the coast and really enjoyed ourselves….Booking with Conchal Fun is so easy - Andrei responds promptly to all queries on WhatsApp or email. I also booked airport transportation to the airport with Andrei. It’s a very good and reliable company.

My teens and I did this tour together and had a blast . We were picked up at our beachfront at Playa Conchal and did a great run along the coast. We had great views and stopped for cliff jumping , and stopped for a swim at a nice
Secluded beach. The tour is about 2.5/3 hrs and is a great way to see the surrounding beaches. I highly recommend using Andrei who is pleasant, accommodating and easy to work with.
We also did a surf day with Andrei - he drove us to Tamarindo and the kids did surf lessons and we had lunch and spent
time enjoying the beach a a little walk about in Tamarindo. Andrei picked us up and returned us to our hotel when we were ready to head back- it was a great day!
Secluded beach. The tour is about 2.5/3 hrs and is a great way to see the surrounding beaches. I highly recommend using Andrei who is pleasant, accommodating and easy to work with.

Ramirez was our guide. The tour was beautiful. Felt safe. Awesome way to see the little beach towns along the coast. 12 and 15 year old boys loved it.

MegaFun !
We had an amazing day on the MegaFun tour Through ConchulFun.
Andrei came recommended to us from several people, so my wife got in touch with him about a month prior to our arrival in Costa Rica. He was so easy to communicate with, very responsive on WhatsApp with text and voice messages as well as phone calls answering all of our questions.
We first arranged for ConchulFun to provide our transportation to and from Liberia Airport to Westin Reserva Conchal. His driver met us upon arrival at the airport and was extremely smiley, friendly and spoke English well! We mentioned how we were super excited to see monkeys in the wild. Along the route to our hotel he kept a careful eye out for some Monkeys. About halfway to our hotel, he spotted some in a tree. He was gracious enough to pull off to a safe place by the monkeys and we hopped out of the van. Our 12 year old son and 15 year old daughter were so excited! We spent several minutes there taking pictures and observing. So appreciated that he did not rush us.
He also pointed out places of interest and had lots of knowledge of the area. Answered all of our questions and provided cold bottles of water that he had in a cooler.
2 days later, we did the MegaFun tour. Andrei picked us up right on time and drove us to Liberia where we met up with Gabriel who then took us to the National park. He set us up for the package of Horse Back Riding, ziplining, waterslide, lunch and hot springs. Before and after each activity he was there to guide us, provide waters, towels, take picture of our family etc. We had such an incredible day. He was also a safe driver which is super important since we were exhausted after that day and we all felt comfortable falling asleep on the ride back.
Book ConchulFun without hesitation.

We spent several minutes there taking pictures and observing. So appreciated that he did not rush us.
He also pointed out places of interest and had lots of knowledge of the area. Answered all of our questions and provided cold bottles of water that he had in a cooler.
2 days later, we did the MegaFun tour. Andrei picked us up right on time and drove us to Liberia where we met up with Gabriel who then took us to the National park. He set us up for the package of Horse Back Riding, ziplining, waterslide, lunch and hot springs. Before and after each activity he was there to guide us, provide waters, towels, take picture of our family etc. We had such an incredible day. He was also a safe driver which is super important since we were exhausted after that day and we all felt comfortable falling asleep on the ride back.

Best time on my trip was with the guide on the jet skis. They took me to really cool places which made me want to come back with my family next time! Thanks guys and thank you Galo for some unforgettable fishing!
