Perfect introduction to Costa Rica

Highly professional tour guide, very relaxing tour. We saw a crocodile, lots of birds and howler monkeys. There was shade and water and pineapple provided. Nothing was too much trouble on this value for money tour.

Best Tour Guide

Thank you Verny!!!! Our tour guide driver was the BEST!!! He made our day such an adventure with his vibrant personality. Love his passion for his country, culture and eco system. Pura Vida!! The river boat tour was beautiful and we even saw a crocodile!! Tamarindo beach was spectacular with a yummy lunch at the beachside restaurant. Wandering the local shops I felt very safe and found a few souvenir gems. Thank you again Verny for an amazing family adventure. From the Belous family Cheers Verny!!! Till next time Pura Vida!

Good boat tour of the mangroves

5 minute or less ride from the Diria, it starts where the river starts. We didn't see any crocodiles, but saw lots of birds, crabs, and monkeys on the walk. We went in the morning, it was very hot if in the sun. It has a shade canopy, but with the angle of the sun and what side of the boat your are sitting on., you may be in the sun until you get into the mangroves. The boat goes slow on the way there, so not much of a breeze. Bring bug repellant and something you could pour water on to use to cool off. The guide cut pineapple on the way back on boat, which was nice!

Great Estuary Boat Safari

Luis, our guide was excellent and had great knowledge about the nature and animals we encountered during the trip. We were able to see the mangrove forest and went up into some of the smaller channels of the river to get up close and personal with the forest. We saw crocodiles, crabs, howler monkeys, iguanas and many birds. We had cold water and delicious fruit too for the journey. It was a slow, relaxing tour and we had good sun protection from the canvas roof of the boat. Definitely worth checking it out!

Tour guide was excellent and the trip was amazing. Can't wait to go again. We will absolutely do this trip next time we visit Costa Rica.

Relaxing, local nature exploration by boat

The tour provided pick up and drop off at the local hotels in Tamarindo in an air conditioned van, the drive was around five minutes from Hotel Diria. The tour of the estuary was about two hours, and we got to see a few birds, crocodiles, iguanas. Monkeys were elsewhere that day. The boat offers seating for around twenty people and has a canopy. Our guide was informative and pointed out creatures he found which were at times difficult to spot with a laser beam. This tour will not provide an adrenaline rush, but is ideal for families with younger children and adults looking for a relaxing, short tour of the local nature which doesn’t involve a long commute as other destinations.

The tour was good with Ivan guiding the boat. We saw 2 crocodiles, raccoons, crabs, and some birds. Also, the breeze of air was good as it was raining for half of our trip.

Beautiful views, LOTS of wildlife, fun!

I had a wonderful time! I was picked up promptly on time at the hotel (if you stay at a hostel just choose the nearest hotel to you that they offer), and had a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide - funny too! We saw so many birds, two crocodiles, dozens of crabs, and a short hike halfway through took us to a group of seven howler monkeys! Pineapple was delicious and water included was much needed. Would 10/10 recommend it. My only warning is that you might want to wear shoes you can get wet (chacos, hiking sandals) or shoes you can take on and off, as we had to step into the water (briefly) to get in and out of the boat, but that might have just been the tide. Super fun!

Worthwhile tour

We were very lucky as got to see three crocodiles including a very small baby. Land crabs and howler monkeys in abundance as well. The guide was good but the "pick up" at the hotel person could have been more enthusiastic when greeting us, hence the 4 stars, otherwise great and worthwhile tour.

Relaxing but too slow for kids

The tour guide was very nice but this was too slow for my kids. It would have been a nice relaxing boat ride without my complaining kids. There were other kids on the tour and they were bored too. It was about 2 hours.
We hardly saw any wildlife. Birds and a couple of crocodiles that were way off in the distance. They did take us to see monkeys but we saw more of those at our hotel.
Not worth it for us.
