We appreciated Ivan's informative tour of the estuary. He is a real conservationist and teacher-very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and engaging with adults and kids alike. My kids are still talking about getting to see crocodiles and howler monkeys. It was a highlight of their trip.

We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide Iban was very nice, accommodating and explained a lot. The trip took about 3 hours and we saw a lot. Monkeys, a crocodile and birds. The price-performance ratio was right.

The best priced tour available in Tamarindo. So interesting , relaxing , and we saw so many animals up close . Our guide was informative and friendly .

We had a great boat tour in the estuary with Ivan today. We were lucky to see a good variety of birds, crocodiles and monkeys - both young animals and adults - and that was a wonderful experience. Also a funny moment with Ivan's humor, highly appreciated!

The animal life we saw was amazing !!
Birds, crocodiles, iguanas, howler monkeys, huge termite nest in the mangrove trees and more.
We had our grandchildren with us and they enjoyed every minute.
Our guides sliced up fresh pineapples that were delicious after we took a stroll on the bank to see the howler monkeys in the trees.
Wonderful excursion !!

Unfortunately, I can only agree with the negative reviews. The first half hour of the drive we got complex knowledge about mangroves, saw 3 birds and a few crabs. Then sometime out of the boat, 100 m into the forest to see some sluggish howler monkeys and 20 min later a mini crocodile in the mangrove roots, that’s it! For the ride advertised by the seller is of course with a 5 m long crocodile !!! For 50,- dollars per person this almost borders on tourist rip-off, please don't make, the money can be spent more sensibly! Sorry, but it wasn’t better! And it doesn't matter which provider, there are just no more animals!

Hello!
We hope you understand that no matter the time of the tour, we cannot control the number of animals due to the fact that it is pure nature. We do see animals at all times of the day and every day is going to be different. The rate for this tour is $45 per person.
We did not at any point advertise this tour with crocodiles 5 meters long. The tour description is as follows, and from what your review says, you did see what was offered:
"Just outside the crowded beaches of Tamarindo, Las Baulas National Park offers an often-overlooked natural getaway. This tour takes you through the park’s vast network of mangrove forests on a relaxing boat trip. As you float down the river, your guide points out wildlife like howler monkeys, crocodiles, and tropical birds that you might not see on your own."

Ivan was an amazing guide! Even on a rainy day, when the water visibility was low, he made sure we saw ample wildlife. Of course, it was fascinating to float alongside the crocodile and learn about the many birds of the area, but my favorite was sitting still in the boat while several families of baby raccoons made appearances in the mangroves all around us! Ivan also brought cold water for us and sliced up a couple of fresh pineapples that he brought for our enjoyment. I highly recommend this tour!!

Guide Ivan was super friendly and knowledgeable . Great experience, got to see a ton of wildlife and learn a lot about the ecosystem. Great experience.
There are some scammers with boats next to the tour who will tell you the tour is on the other side of the river, offer to take you there and make you pay once you’re on the other side. Then make you pay to have them take you back to the correct side where the tour is. So beware of anyone trying to tell you the tour is on the other side of the river

While the trip was disappointing, it had nothing to with Ivan or his skills. He picked us up on time, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the estuary and what wildlife we saw. Unfortunately, it was the rainy season, so the water was cooler and dirty, so we could not see what was in the water. We saw a lot of waterfowl, one little crocodile and lots of mangrove. But the monkeys, sloth and other wildlife were not interested.
Ivan was a gracious host, brought water and fresh pineapple he cut and shared with the group.
You should be aware there is no dock and the boat is in the water and so are you boarding and disembarking. I hope to make the trip again someday when the water is clearer.

What species of birds did you see on this tour? My husband and I are avid photographers and birders. We took a similar tour from our resort "Si Como No" in Manuel Antonio which was the highlight of our week's vacation. Thanks, Joan H
