My wife and I spent a week in Tamarindo for surfing. We booked a 3-day package with iguana surf and were absolutely amazed.
We tried surfing several times in Europe and Hawaii and always had a coach. Jonathan of iguana surf has been by far the best coach we have ever had!!!
In only there days we learned so incredibly much. We advanced from foamies to hard boards and he had us turn in a day. His coaching is absolutely superb with excellent communication skills, spot on oberservation on what and how to improve and above all he creates an amazing vibe in the water.
Absolutely loved the time spent with Jonathan and highly recommend getting a session with him - best coach you can find anywhere!!!

My boyfriend and I did two lessons with Jonathon, and they were AMAZING. We’ve both taken lesson in the past (where we mostly we’re just rocked by waves) but after Johnathons lessons something just clicked.
They way he described getting up on the board and the best techniques for catching waves made such a difference.
After our lessons, we end up renting boards and catching waves on our own for the first time ever! If your in Tamarindo, get surf lessons from iguana surf and get them with Jonathan

Fantastic company to deal with. Responsive and easy to communicate with when booking. My husband and daughter did the 3 days surf package. They were both up and surfing almost immediately and continued to improve over the 3 days. Kevin and Marlon were great teachers and very pleasant.
We also booked the turtle tour through Iguana Surf and it was fabulous.

Great instructors, very friendly and helpful staff. I went out with Kurt & Louis, both of which tought me a lot in the short time I spent in Tamarindo!
I also had to change my course dates twice for health reasons, which was no issue at all.

We had a great time- great value. Kevin was our instructor- he managed to keep all three of us safe and learning. We all got up! Great pics with the photo package. Highly recommend- and - ask for Kevin !!

Duro and team were incredible...There was a slight mix up with the reservation...The staff scrambled, took turns instructing our family and were simply awesomely customer service & experience focused! Really can't say enough nice things...

The previous two times I tried surfing on my own without a lesson was a disaster! I did the 3 day surf package with Iguana this time and it was an infinitely more fun experience. Having guides like Luis and Kurt helped me catch dozens of waves over the three day period, they taught me the proper Pop Up technique and knew exactly where to hang out to catch the breaks. Take a lesson with Iguana and you’ll get so much more out of the experience! The team at Iguana have so much knowledge and experience to pass along, and they’re there to help you out if you need anything! Also, the photographs they took on my 3rd lesson day are unreal! I’m so happy I gave this a try. Now I can’t wait to come back again and do some more surfing in Tamarindo with Iguana! Pura Vida amigos, thanks for helping me pop up and surf my first many waves 🤙🇨🇷

We had a great time at Iguana Surf! We did surf camp from Saturday-Thursday and had 4 lessons with Manrique. Both of us caught waves the very first day! Douglas at the front desk was super nice and very helpful. He gave us recommendations on where to eat and helped us organize activities. Tamarindo is an awesome little surf town full of beginner surfers which made me feel comfortable while learning.

We had only planned to come one afternoon, but had so much fun with Luis that we booked 3 more days!
Lots of surf schools shame you into using hard top boards because it’s “real surfing” but the soft top boards let you stand up and ride waves much faster. Lots of other teens were struggling to even catch a single wave, my son was riding 10 times the waves. Now he is ready to try the “real” board because he is hooked. That wouldn’t have been the case if he had experienced the frustration the other teens were experiencing.
The staff is friendly and helpful, the location is great! Right across from parking, right across from an easy break!

We are family of four. Our youngest one that is 10 years old was in great hands the whole time but we did a five day package. Her instructor name is Kevin and he is absolutely great with kids! We really recommend him. Our daughter had such a great time with him. She also learned couple of tricks and in the end she was going through the waves like a pro 🙌🏻
