Natalia and driver Gianer were wonderful. They pointed out sloths, monkeys, birds, and plants. Natalie was knowledgeable about the area, and was very sweet. Gianer assisted my elderly mom on and off the bus. We enjoyed our day!

We Met with the mini bus taking us through the terminal as directed.
In the trees in the park there was a mother 2 toad sloth with its baby and the father sloth a few trees away up some not so big trees so got as close as we were going to get to a sloth about 30 ft up .
The mini bus tour guide was very good and knowledgeable also the driver was on the lookout for wildlife whilst driving he pulled over when he spotted some howler monkeys at the side of the main road up some trees and pointed out some weaver bird nests.
The first stop was cahuita where we walked up a path at the side of the beach and in a wooded area along with lots of other groups of tourists. We walked about half a mile spotting two 3 toed sloths about 50ft up and hearing howler monkeys but not seeing them . When I booked I imagined walking into the rainforest seeing toucans tree frogs and various wildlife so was a bit of an anti climax.!
We then went to a banana plantation . Busy again with tourists but ok .
We then went onto the tortougeura canal . Disappointing again as didn’t see much only 1 3 toed sloth 2 type of iguana and 2 egret type birds .
when I booked I imagined going up a canal into the rainforest with toucans tropical birds butterflies and other wildlife . but in reality the canal runs down the side of a road in parts with other boats all looking for wildlife.
In all the tour was good informative and well put together but I would have rather have gone deeper to the forest in cahuita .
I understand wildlife are free and not guaranteed to be seen but when you book this don’t envisage seeing loads of sloths and wildlife and being deep in the rainforest because in reality your very close to human civilisation and don’t see much wildlife.

We booked this tour for our day trip in Costa Rica. Our guide Natalie, and our driver Melvin, were waiting for us outside the gate at the port as promised. Besides myself and my friend, there were 16 others that took this same day trip with us.
The bus was clean and the air conditioning was amazing. Natalie spoke excellent english and really educated us on the culture and communities of Limon.
The tour specifically stated that there was no guarantee that we would see any animals during our tour. We were quite lucky to encounter sloths 4 times as well as iguanas , monkeys and a toucan. Our driver Melvin was able to pull our mini bus over on more than once when he spotted wildlife from our bus!! He was the animal whisperer for sure.
What I did not like about this tour was the “ Organic Banana Plantation”. This was merely a small walk around a gift shop that had various plants and vegetation. This stop was
Basically to get you to go into a gift shop that was way too small for all the tourist. They crammed in there so that you would purchase something and the tour company would get credit. We had the same experience on other tours we took during our cruise.
I guess the negative didn’t seem to really matter after we were able to encounter so many beautiful animals and learn so much from our tour guide Natalie.

This was one of the most informative, fun excursions we've ever done. I wish I could remember the tour guides name because he was excellent. We saw sloths, monkeys, iguanas, viper, raccoons, etc., all different kinds of plants and flowers, cocoa, coffee cherry. We got lessons on how banana, chocolate and coffee are grown. Dont miss this tour!

The tour operator never turned up... end of story... they said when I telephoned after waiting for 30 minutes that they did not have our ship recod=rded as in the harbour that day andyet I had 2 E mails from them confirming the day and the time etc...

Our cruise ship season ends last month of May and it's suspicious receive this post after many months. We do not have enough information for reply this review. We need all information for end this story...

This was hardly a "Sloth Lovers" tour...we saw two sloths the entire day. Both were sleeping and curled up in a ball at the very top of a tree...so all we could see were their hind quarters. Very disappointing.
However, the walks through Cahuita Nature park and the boat ride along the Tortuguero canal were pleasant enough. For us, the highlight of the day was the Banana plantation...learning more about how bananas are grown and distributed was surprisingly interesting!
The guide and driver were very friendly and informative...our only complaint was that the title of this tour is misleading. Perhaps revise the tour to include a sanctuary where an actual sloth could be seen up close and personal.
However, the walks through Cahuita Nature park and the boat ride along the Tortuguero canal were pleasant enough. For us, the highlight of the day was the Banana plantation...learning more about how bananas are grown and distributed was surprisingly interesting!

We are very sorry you use the term misleading to refer to our tour. In our tour description we explain very clear what this tour is about and here I copy paste our information:
"Your guide will point out many sights of interest along the way until your arrival to the first stop at Cahuita National Park, where the search for sloths will begin. At this park, many sloths are in their natural habitat and free. In here, you will learn about their natural history, behavior and many other interesting facts of this lovely animal. After Cahuita, you will continue the tour but this time taking a Boat Tour in Tortuguero Canal. During this nice journey, you will be able to see more Slothts, due they love to live close to the rivers.
NOTE: This tour is for see sloths in their natural habitat. We do not touch or manipulate the animals. No visit sanctuaries"
Animals in National Park are free and it is not under our control their daily activities. Some times our customers are able to see many of them and at very close distance, but other days it is not. This is part of the wonders of nature.
Unfortunately your recommendation for revise the title of our tour will not be possible because we will not be interested in visiting the sloths in sanctuaries, where animals are kept in cages and exhibited for money like in a circus.

We expected to tour the sloth sanctuary based on information provider in the ad. However this was not the case. The river cruise was uneventful. The guide was very nice and the best part.
Would not recommend this excursions terribly disappointing.

We are so sorry you didn´t read the tour description first before to purchase this tour.
If you were expecting to visit the sloths sanctuary you should read and notice that this tour was not for you. The information provided in our ad is accurate and is clear indicating that we do not visit sanctuaries where people see the sloths in cages and are exhibited for money. Instead our tour visit the areas where they are in their natural habitat.
I just copy-paste the information listed in our web site and Viator page. Any person that read the full description will clearly understand our tour:

Alles war super, Abholung vor dem Schiffsterminal, kleine Gruppe von 6 Personen mit Guide Ariel.
Im Cahuita Nationalpark haben wir tatsächlich Faultiere, Leguane, Affen und verschiedene Schmetterlinge gesehen. Anschließend kleiner Besuch einer Bananenplantage, sehr interessant.
Zum Abschluss noch eine Bootsfahrt, auch da haben wir ein Faultier und Affen, Leguane gesehen

I love seeing wildlife, and when our guide stopped to rescue a sloth, that was the highlight of the trip. A sloth was trapped in some high grass, and our guide stopped the bus, took a pole, got the sloth to grab onto the pole, and carried it to a nearby tree. We also had an opportunity to pet a rescued baby sloth. A great trip!

Yes. It is at the same place. Our guide gave us a very detailed tour explaining both the life cycle & harvesting of these crops. It is not a working plantation but rather a very well maintained educational center. There are nice bathrooms there & a good gift shop run by local women. Very pleasant stop but HOT when we wete there in Feb.

Hi, I am interested in doing this tour. Our ship docks at 8 am and leaves at 4 pm. I see the tour is six hours long and I know you have to work around times that passengers get off their curise ship. Would we be back in time for our ship?

Eu e minha família estaremos em Puerto Limón entre 8h e 15h. Gostaríamos de saber quais são os passeios mais próximos do Porto. Estaremos com crianças de 3, 5 e 8 anos. Para chegarmos ao passeio do Santuário das preguiças (perezosos) demora quanto tempo e qual a distância?
