So our trip started out with the girl at the front desk being rude. We asked for a side-by-side and we would pay extra. There were three side-by-side‘s in the lot for the company. She said they were not available. We waited to go on our trip to our ATV. Then we had a taxi to go to our rafting experience waited 45 minutes for the taxi.
The rafting was good, very unorganized.
Then we waited another 35 minutes for a ride back to Jaco. We’ve been on 7 tours this was just awful, unorganized, the whole day waiting for transportation, and the 3 side by sides were still there, when we returned from Atv tour, she flat out lied to us!
I understand it’s high season, but this crew is awful, don’t use!

Vi körde först ATV i två timmar i Jacó. Tonåringarna tyckte det var otroligt roligt! Vi vuxna tyckte framförallt det var intressant att komma upp i bergen och att det var en fantastisk utsikt.
Därefter kördes vi till Quepos där vi åkte forsränning i floden Naranjo. Det hade regnat kvällen innan så floden hade korta partier med nivå 4 och till och med en kort passage på nivå 5. Superkul! Guiderna var skickliga och vår guide var en riktigt spexig kille som fick oss att skratta med sina upptåg hela tiden. Fantastisk upplevelse som vi gärna gör om!

What an exciting day! First we did the ATV tour up the mountain ,topped it off with drinks in a small cantina. Kenny and Ninja were amazing guides. Kenny commanded my phone for some amazing videos and pictures.
Next was the white water rafting. Not for young children!! The guides were engaging and fun. I ended up in the water, but Wesley got me back in! Very scary for me, but surely an adventure!!

Javier was our guide for the ATV riding and was fantastic. He speaks perfect English and took us on very safe trails and roads that all levels of riders in our group could enjoy. We liked Javier so much that we actually invited him to have dinner with us on 3 separate nights.
Our other guide for the rafting was also very good and guided us through level 3 and 4 rapids.

I wasn't that hyped about doing this 4 hour ATV trip through the mountains but now that we've done it I'd have to say it was the highlight of our week in Jaco. Not only did we see some of the most incredible views on earth but we got to learn so much about the area. Our guide - Ninja, was the best. You start off in the center of Jaco and end up on top of a mountain at a local restaurant greeted by the nicest people. Ninja knows these trails like the back of his hand. He grew up here and still lives on the mountain. His knowledge of the area is worth the price of admission. He speaks great English and he's very bright. You can't go wrong with AXR and Ninja.

We booked a full day of adventure several weeks in advance with AXR which was nice because I am definitely a planner. The booking and communication was excellent, they answered all of my many questions and concerns very quickly. Since we were arriving in Puntarenas via cruise ship, we arranged to be picked up at the cruise port by AXR for an additional cost. We couldn’t find our driver and were constantly approached by pushy tour operators while we waited patiently for our driver for over 30 minutes. When our driver was not anywhere to be found we had to initiate an international calling plan to call AXR to ensure a driver was coming for us. Finally, a driver appeared with our name on a piece of paper, 30 minutes late. This started our whole day late as we had a 90+ min car ride to get to Jaco where AXR is located. Nevertheless, we later learned that the staff at AXR where very concerned when the driver they hired to pick us up could not be found and even had started to arrange for a backup driver to be sent to our location for pick up, very professional. Even with the delay, we were able to stop briefly at the Tarcoles river bridge and see the crocodiles below. The AXR shop in Jaco was clean and we were greeted and checked in promptly. After some paperwork we were sent outside to where the vehicles were staged. It took a little time waiting outside because the Polaris we were supposed to get needed air in all 4 tires but after that we were off! Juan, our guide, led us off he city street of Jaco onto dirt roads leading up to the beautiful mountainside. About 15 min into the ride our Polaris crapped out and very quickly Juan had the AXR shop driving out a replacement. Back on the road we went all the way up to the top of the mountainside for the stop at the restaurant with included lunch and sweeping views of beautiful CR land. A guy trying to sell a ride on Tarzan swing was kind of annoying but other than that and the beers we bought being warm, this was a great stop on our tour. The included lunch was just okay, my husband and dad paid extra money for camaron entree(shrimp) and it ended up being some tiny rehydrated instant shrimp in a pile of rice. They were not happy about that but the best part about the lunch was Juan telling us about the area and the small town where he was from. Back on the road to AXR, Juan took us a slightly different way which was much appreciated. Once back at the shop we were informed that a bad car accident had caused traffic and it was not suggested that we continue our 2nd adventure which was supposed to be whitewater rafting. We were very disappointed but understood as this was an unplanned misfortune and we didn’t want to risk missing our cruise departure. The owner at AXR offered us some other tours, horseback riding or zip lining but we were not interested and it was nice he refunded us for he rafting on the spot in USD cash. He offered for us to stay in Jaco longer before getting the driver to take us back to Puntarenas but we opted to head back being that we were so far away. In hindsight we should have stayed in Jaco longer and went to the beach. The cruise port in Puntarenas has little to boast about. It’s very crowded and dirty and the beach accessible there is not nice. At least on the way back our driver offered to take us to a monkey sanctuary where we could see and feed little monkeys which was a nice stop and surprisingly did not make us feel bad for the monkeys as they had a nice set up there and you could tell they were well taken care of but still wild and free. All in all, it was certainly not the day we had planned on but it was still mostly enjoyable. I highly recommend AXR for their tours but would not recommend it to cruise guests due to the distance and the time constraints associated with cursing. Oh and tip for the buggies or ATVs, make sure you have a bandana or face covering as it’s very dusty and you’ll be smiling and laughing and will get all that dirt in your mouth if you don’t have it covered!

We are sorry again for the accident on the highway that caused the inconvenience for the second tour, as we could not control that.
We hope to see you again soon, maybe if you come to visit costa rica directly. So there is more time to enjoy the beautiful country.

The company took care of everything for us, the guides were knowledgeable and most helpful. A class act outfit all pricing is reasonable with no suprises.

Hello! We are coming in March with a group of 14. Are these ATV's or Polaris type vehicles? We did this last year in Aruba and had a great time. We have some older people in their 60's and they prefer the caged kind of vehicle. Thank you!

They had both when we were there in April. We reserved the Polaris type and enjoyed the tour very much!
Can 11 adults take part in this activity? It stops me at 9 people when trying to book.
