Wir haben den Trip spontan gebucht und waren im Nachgang sehr froh darüber. Der Ausflug war in einer überschaubaren Gruppe von 12 Personen sehr angenehm. Unser Guide Carolin hat uns vorweg viel erklärt und uns Regeln für die Sicherheit im Wasser erklärt. Somit fühlten wir uns im Wasser als wir die Wale nur ein paar Meter entfernt vor uns hatten einfach nur glücklich. Es war ein atemberaubendes Erlebnis. Danke.

Sortie le 31/10, matin baleine et après-midi quad.
Il faut dire que la pub que Keen’V a fait pour vous nous a bien aidé à choisir :)
Le matin sorti pour voir les baleines avec notre guide Caroline, petit bateau nous étions que 7 à bord, parfait. Une première mise à l’eau dans le lagon pour nous tester ensuite direction le grand large. Miracle on trouve une baleine et son bébé, on nage pendant pas mal de temps en plein océan mais les 2 mammifères jouent à cache cache avec nous. Ma femme et mon petit de 8 ans sont restés à bord et le petit à vomis grâce au mal de mer :). Dans l’océan j’étais pas mieux, j’ai réussi à vomir en remontant dans le bateau à cause des grosses vagues qui me baladait. Ça en valait la peine, les mammifères sont apparus à quelques centimètres de nous, hop la tête sous l’eau et le spectacle est extraordinaire, le tout est filmé par Caro.
L’après-midi, 3h30 de quad sous une pluie diluvienne avec notre guide Clément. Au final, nous avons adoré cette pluie car l’expérience était encore plus grandiose. Mon petit derrière était heureux en étant couvert de boue et l’attention que Clément lui portait à chaque arrêt était super. Le tour de 3h30 vaut le cout, il n’y a pas d’arrêt pour rien, on voit les champs d’ananas, le jardin botanique, la vanille, le belvédère et j’en passe, puis on roule quasi non stop, on en a pour notre argent.
Pour résumé, on a vécu une journée qui restera à jamais dans nos mémoires, faire 16000kms pour être accueilli par des gens merveilleux et au petit soin ça n’a pas de prix :)
On remercie du fond du coeur Caroline et Clément pour nous avoir fait découvrir avec passion une partie des secrets de Moorea, c’est bête à dire parce que on ne les connait pas et on les a vu que quelques heures, mais on ne les oubliera jamais.

Freaking amazing. I can’t believe how close we were, or how much James knew about how to make the whales feel comfortable being around us. I’ve done whale watching— this isn’t whale watching. I’ve swum with wild dolphins, manta rays, and sea turtles in Hawaii several times. As magical as those experiences were, there’s no comparison.
I doubt every trip is as lucky, but I will remember every second vividly for the rest of my life.

Due to unavailability of our cruise whale-watching excursions, we booked independently. And so glad we did! Jay was our guide - knowledgeable, eco #1, engaging and fun. He reminded us of a lithe Peter Pan as he agilely leapt from the boat roof to its deck. His passion for wildlife preservation equals his concern for passenger safety. He conducted a "swim test" that humbled our 70+ year-old abilities. However, we watched from the boat and felt completely engaged in the adventure. Cost is considerably less than cruise offerings. Transportation provided to and from Moorea dock. Highly recommended!

We had a really good time! It was our first whale tour here. We had J as our tour guide and he was pretty good at explaining what the tour was about and our best chances at seeing them. You do need to be a decent swimmer to go in the water because you get a ways away from the boat and you have to swim your way back. They did a test run with everyone beforehand which was a very good idea.

This tour was a mixed bag. The guide and captain were very nice and tried very hard to find whales. While we did spot a few they were tricky to find and far away. I don’t blame the Captain and guide at all for not being able to swim with them because they are wild animals and nobody can predict where they will be! However, my wife went on a similar tour with a company a day later and in addition to the whale watching she was able to swim with reef sharks and sting rays in the lagoon which are much more common but we didn’t do that. Perhaps it’s because we ran out of time looking for whales but I was a bit disappointed we didn’t even try to snorkel in the lagoon.
Second, I found the desk staff to be rather short and uninterested in providing much service to some customers including myself but found them to be very friendly and helpful to those who spoke French. In addition, their follow up email asking for feedback was only in French so they may prefer French customers. I can understand that there may be an expectation of understanding and speaking French since it’s French Polynesia but there are probably other operators who are more accommodating of other languages.

First of all thank you for your feedback.
For the whales watching tour, our priority is whales of course and as you said we have time left we are doing a stop in the Lagoon.
Concerning the desk staff (and all the staff of our company) they are fluent english and I think we don't do any favor to french people as 80% of our customers are english speakers.
We are sorry that maybe the day you came there were french people we known.
Hope you will come to visit us again one day and we will be here for you with a great pleasure🌺
