Buyer Beware of Weather Cancellations

You need to warn people you cancel trips due to weather. Cruises only stop for 1 day and if the weather is bad even in July, they won't take you to the mountain even though July is supposed to be the best time of year to visit.

We appreciate your feedback and it's unfortunate you gave us a 1 star review due to circumstances that are out of control (weather). We assume that people will understand that flights get cancelled due to weather, no different than the commercial airlines. Especially, booking a flightseeing tour in a temperate rainforest. The best months to travel to Juneau is actually May and June. We have a call center (not Viators one) that can answer all these questions before booking. I am sorry that the weather was not perfect for your few hours in Juneau on a cruise ship.

Safe and fantastically fun

Bucket List. Great coordination. Shuttle driver did some explaining on our way to the helipad. The equipment provided -- boots and safety belt/pouch seemed new. Thorough safety reviews. Very friendly people. Fabulous heli ride up over glaciers, reservoir, beautiful scenery; landed at camp to be greeted by more friendly people. They broke us up into groups; we each had a chance to MUSH while actual Iditarod musher oversaw and introduced all the dogs, explained his lifestyle, what he does. Beautiful crisp day, time to play with puppies, greet all the dogs. COuldn't have been more tun. Worth every penny.

Coastal Helicopter Dog Sled Excursion

James was our guide for the dog sled tour and this was ABSOLUTELY the highlight of our cruise. The flight was beautiful, but the dog sled trip was amazing. James and his team of 10 huskeys were awesome. Playing with the dogs and riding on the dog sled was a spectular trip. The bonus was cuddling the 6 week old puppies.

A must do, multi-tiered adventure

Coastal Helicopters' operation in Juneau is a seamless and professional business, with safety paramount.
The helicopter ride was smooth and gorgeous - amazing views of forests/lakes/glaciers/juneau.
Landing at the dog camp we recieved a quick orientation of the dog camp. 240 dogs and 18 people live at here! A logistical wonder - relying on helicopters only!
Katherine was our lead musher. She was knowledgeable and fun and clearly loves her dogs. The sled rides were fun, a true sample of what it is like.
Hardy crew living here who love what they do. Very impressive!

Dog Sledding & Glacier Adventure by Helicopter

Helicoptered to an exclusive dog sled camp located on Norris Glacier and was super amazed by a beautiful heli-sightseeing trip over the vast Juneau Icefield. Recommend hightly. 4 in my party - ages 72, 70, 14 and 13. Super Fantastic. Sat in helicopter in accordance to a weight plan. But views were perfect even from back. All flight pictures taken out of back window. Bundled up with layers. Hot is dog camp proper because sunny. But once out on the sled, sipped up and put hat and gloves on. Happy to be warm -- cold comes up through glacier in the shade. Views spectacular. Dogs friendly and allowed all of our pets. Can't say enough about professional treatment from the guides and pilot. Would do this again! and again!

This tour was the highlight of my Alaskan journey. The helicopter ride was great & our pilot was very informative. The dog sledding was wonderful. Our musher was Manny & he was great. Explained every step of the dog sledding process. Worth every penny. Find a way to enjoy this excursion you will not be disappointed.

Good family fun
We had just landed in Juneau and wanted something fun to do. The helicopter ride was incredible. First time fliers. Views were breathtaking. The dog camp on Herbert Glacier was crazy to see in the middle of no where. Dogs were friendly. The ride was fun but you don’t leave sight of the camp. Wish it had been longer.

DON"T MISS OUT ON THIS ONE!

Once in a life time experience. Josi our guide was outstanding. I have to say this is one (an forgetful one) off my bucket list. I'm from a tropical climate and for those not use to cold weather I recommend you wear worm clothing as it gets cold where the dog camp is located. In all, of all of the excursion this was the highlight of the trip..... from the helicopter ride to the sled ride.
