This is a must see if you have time. There are middle class areas and areas where the poverty is unbelievable. The ghetto that was created when Black people were moved from the city is heartbreaking. Seeing the despair and then seeing areas close by that are built up is a real shock.

Our guide was Pastor and he was absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable about the history of Soweto and Joburg. We had limited time in Johannesburg and his tour was perfect to provide a enlightening overview of the city. Definitely wish we had more time to spend in this wonderful city!

Kgoagelo Mogotlane (KG) was a great tour guide. I enjoyed her wealth of knowledge.

An excellent tour of both Joburg and Soweto with Pastor, a very experienced guide. We did not know what to expect but it was a super tour for just myself and my wife.

South Africa plays a very important role in our fractured world as they struggle to bring about a new multicultural democracy with human rights paramount. This tour was exceptional in reviewing the past as well as the present and hopes for the future. Our guide Pastar runs the company with his wife. They certainly don’t gloss over the harsh reality of the Apartheid government but neither do they blame all the many problems highlighted in the tour on the white man.
Visits to the Mandela home and the constitutional court highlight the lofty and noble rights enshrined in the recently adopted constitution but all around you see the evidence of the failure of the governing system to implement them. People from all over Africa have poured into the country in search of a better life but you are left wondering if they have the ability to pull it off.
We had one afternoon and night in Joburg and Pastar’s half day tour left a vivid and lasting impression of a young nation struggling to live up to its ideals. Very very highly recommended.

One of the best eye-opening tour experiences we have ever encountered. We learned so much about the apartheid years and the struggle and pain now caused by the ANC on all of the South African people. We were impressed how proud the people are of their country and the strides made over the past 30 years. But also saddened that the ANC is so corrupt and only care about themselves and not their people. Highly recommend Mhlangansis Tours!

Pastor (MHLANGANISI travels&t ours)is very good, Proffessional and respectful. He taught me alot about South Africa while at the same time helped me take very good photos. He was very patient and never rushed me. I totally enjoyed my experience and will definitely refer my friends to pastor. It was raining heavily and pastor ensured I was okay gave me an umbrella, water to drink etc. I will definitely come back again. Thank you so much Pastor and God bless you🙏

As we had a 10+ hour layover at O.R Tambo, we contacted Mhlanganisi Tours to see what was possible. They were super responsive and flexible, and were able to take the Joburg and Soweto tour with us on a last minute notice.
Pastor came to pick us up at the airport and took us around Soweto and Johannesburg for the whole afternoon. He was very knowledgeable and knew loads about the different sights we visited. We experience the tour as authentic and it gave us a good idea of what Johannesburg and Soweto are like. It opened our eyes and we only want to go see more of the city after this tour!

Yes that's one of the pick up points. You select it when you book online. The Grillhouse Restaurant near Garden Court is great for a meal too.
