Justin was our tour guide on this amazing walk through the streets and cultures of central Cape Town. Justin was very informative on a broad range of topics and helped us understand the influences that shaped the heart of Cape Town food. Even if we didnt stop and sample the local foods the tour was well worth the price just to hear the stories, legends and political intrigue of Cape Town.... but the food was amazing as well. My only suggestion is to book this tour early in your visit as some of the information will inform the rest of your stay. Justin is fantastic, so if you can snag him as your guide more the better.

It's been several weeks since friends and I took this tour with our fabulous guide, Justin, and I can't stop thinking about how amazing this was. We learned so much about the food and the history of Cape Town, and especially the Bo Kaap neighborhood that is home to Justin. As a vegetarian, Justin made sure that I was offered the same culinary experience as the rest of our group. Justin was kind, thoughtful and funny, and I would highly recommend him and this tour to anyone -- even vegetarians!!

We took the Cape Town Essentials tour today with Olivia and Justin and had a wonderful time. We visited four places and sampled a variety of delicious South African foods including koesisters, bobotie, ostrich and springbok with chakalaka, and bunny chow. We also sampled local rooibos tea, sparkling wine, beer and amber gin. Everything was delicious. Olivia and Justin were very knowledgeable about the food as well as Cape Town, South African history and sport. I would definitely take another tour with Cape Town Culinary Tours on my next visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour with Justin. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the Bo Kaap neighborhood that he calls home, the restaurants we visited and the history of Cape Town. He willingly answered all of our questions about anything and everything. The food on the tour was fabulous and there was vegetarian food at every stop for our one vegetarian. We highly recommend this tour, and especially Justin as a guide.

My wife and I decided to book this tour for our first day in Cape Town as a way to get acclimated to the city and learn some of its local cuisine history. We received every bit of what we expected and more.
Marianne was our tour guide and she did a masterful job of not only keeping every member of the group highly entertained, but she departed a great wealth of knowledge through out our time together. We were able to experience local, traditional and historical South African cuisine and explored Bo-Kaap and the surrounding areas. Not only was the food delectable, but the actual walking tour was extremely intriguing and was helpful in familiarizing ourselves with our new surroundings in Cape Town. Aside from the scheduled stops on the tour, Marianne also kindly pointed out multiple points of interest that she recommended we explore during our trip. While we did not visit them all, having the information was helpful and the ones we did visit, primarily on Bree street, were top tier.
On an administrative note, the vendor was highly communicative prior to our visit and checked for any allergies or dietary restrictions. We stayed in Camps Bay and were worried about transportation to the start of the tour and/or getting lost trying to find our way. However, clear instructions and the tour schedule were provided the tour operator clearly and well in advance of our visit (they also sent day before and of reminders which were helpful).
We whole heartedly recommend everyone who visits cape town to book this tour. Our review surly does no justice to the high quality snd hospitality of the tour and all of its team members who make it possible.

You MUST do this food tour!! Elsje Erasmus provided a fun, educational with great food and drinks. "Ellie" makes you feel as though you have known her all of your life. It is a walking tour, but you do not walk great distances. I highly recommend booking with Cape Town Culinary Tours!!

This was an excellent tour with great company. Justin certainly had great knowledge about the local history of the area and took us to some wonderful food places, making this an enjoyable afternoon. I would definitely recommend this tour, we did it the day after we landed, so we got a feel for the local cusine early on.

We have just finished an excellent food tour with Justin, who I cannot praise highly enough as a guide. He was both knowledgeable and passionate about the food and wine of the Cape and grounded every dish in its historical and political context. And he was funny. Altogether a great afternoon spent with a lovely group of people and the bonus of a richer understanding of the area, the food and its people.

Is it possible to take our kids (1 and 4 years) to the tour? This tour would be a great present for my husband as we both love cooking and eating. The kids will not really eat anything (our 4 year old is bee picky ;)).

You could but it would be quite boring for them. It's a lot of walking, stopping to look at buildings and interesting things to adults. While you are at the eating establishments they talk about the food, the production, etc. It's a fabulous tour but I don't recommend it for anyone under 14.

Hi, is it possible to organize a private tour? I have approx 2-8 people interested. I'm traveling with a small group of women who will be on a yoga retreat. We'd love to potentially reserve several spots on April 14th or April 17th. Our reason for not directly booking is that we'd need to start around 12:30PM. Thanks! Stephanie
