A conseiller +++. Une autre approche des meteores. Randonnée sur 3h environ avec visite du grand monastère. Guide super sympa. Très competent un excellent moment.

First things first: Meteora is absolutely stunning any way you look at it, and you can't really go wrong. But while any bus or car can take you to vantage points to spot the monasteries, there's nothing like a good old-fashioned hike through forest trails across streams, rocks, and trees. There's no instant gratification here, but as you slowly gain altitude, the sheer brilliance of Meteora slowly reveals itself, a far more rewarding experience than simply taking a bus.
A guide can make or break your trek, and Christos was the best hiking buddy we could get. A local from the area, he knows the Meteora trails like the back of his hand, and is very well-versed with the history of the place too. While many people huff and puff up the hills, he strolls across like he's going to the supermarket, with plenty of breath left to narrate histories and perspectives of the Meteora monasteries.
While the buses focus on the monasteries and rocks, the hike gives you the opportunity to see another side of Meteora, the green, lush side.
If you're reasonably fit and want to go to Meteora, do the hike. You won't regret it.

Eravamo in 2 famiglie, 4 adulti e 4 ragazzi (dai 13 ai 18 anni), e ci siamo uniti ad un gruppo proveniente da Atene in treno.
Il tour è calibrato per farti vedere tutti e 6 i monasteri ma solo 3 con visita all'interno. I monasteri vengono visitati in autonomia con un limite di tempo, adeguato, dettato dal tour. La guida durante gli spostamenti spiega le origini dei monasteri e la loro storia. Guida in inglese ma molto comprensibile anche dai nostri ragazzi.

This is a beautiful hike! Our guide Clement was very knowledgeable and also very personable and easy-going. His knowledge of the history and the area was an excellent addition to the beauty of the hike itself. The monasteries are amazing!

Nous avons effectué une belle randonnée de quatre heures dans le paysage incroyable des Météores avec notre jeune guide (19 ans) Chris, super commentateur (anglais seulement ) c’est idéal en petit groupe (6) avec nos ados 13 et 17 ans qui ont kiffé les paysages et apprécié que la randonnée ne prévoit qu’une visite de monastère 😉
La randonnée a été faite en pleine chaleur de juillet mais le trajet est à 80% à l’ombre en forêt, ça s’apprécie 🙂
Le choix de le faire sous cette formule marcheurs permet d’apprécier les paysages mais aussi leur sérénité 😌
Bravo à l’équipe de Météores Thrones !
La randonnée a été faite en pleine chaleur de juillet mais le trajet est à 80% à l’ombre en forêt, ça s’apprécie 🙂

I loved this tour. We visited the inside of one monastery and hiked past the others and to some ruins of monasteries. The guide, I believe his name was Christos, was excellent. He had very interesting and informative stories, and he had a lot of knowledge to share. It was a beautiful hike and a lot of fun. I highly recommend this hiking tour with Christos.

The driver and guide were friendly, knowledgeable and genuine during our small, private tour. They seamlessly adjusted our tour to fit our specific interests. They were conversational while sharing historical facts and cultural anecdotes.

We were promptly picked up and we then made our way to Varlaam monastery,where we had 45 minutes.
Then we had an awsum hike with Crystos the tour guide who was very knowledgeable about all of the meteora history and also natural history,plants and animals along the way.Definately recommend

Christos provided an exceptional tour through Meteora’s monastery back trails, and we were equally impressed with Clement’s incredible knowledge of the history of this dramatically beautiful region of Greece. Highly recommend walking as a way to see this region as part of a 2 day itinerary.

How long is the drive from centre of kalambaka to the start of the hike?

Drive was about 15-20 mins. We stopped at a few locations to pickup others. We checked out the Varlaam monastery before we started our hike

Hi, I will be visiting Meteora for a day with family in mid-July (arriving previous evening and leaving next day at 5 pm). My daughter is 9 years old. The hiking tour seems attractive, since it gives access to a monastery not seen on the driving tour. Would this be suitable for a 9 year old? And do you provide water on the trip or are we expected to carry our own water? Also, in mid-July, is it very hot to hike there or will we be hiking in the shade/ cool?
Thank you for your answers so I can make the right decision on this tour. All things being suitable, I am inclined to book this tour.
